Every time i see that semi final i want to cry. That was our cup, our conditions, our team was in form, but in the end lack of experience made us lose that game. This worldcup too, we have argubly the best pace attack and the worst middle order, but why did we lose the first game? Because of our death bowling. We only got the hope of winning because our middle order saved us. We went in this worldcup with middle order questions and we will go out of it with top order and probly death bowling questions as well

I feel that the Stoinis incident is a common thing. Such a thing has happened to lot of teams before. In one IPL match, with 2 runns remaining, the catch went just past Chris Morris and lost RCB the match

It's not necessarily bad luck. Bad luck is when toss decides the outcome of a match(UAE worldcup)... This is good old Choke under pressure.
Pak won match against the mighty SF in 2022 world cup because they were not under pressure and thus could play to the best of their abilities.
But when it comes to performing during crunch games, Pak lost fair and square.
This is where Australia has stood out in the past 30-40 years. They don't buckle under pressure. Their mental strength is their biggest asset.
What Virat Kohli did against Pak game, Australian team has been doing this since ages...

Tbh i was really surprised that Pakistan didn't lift a cup last year in 2021. They were dominating the Asia Cup, and then choked in the finals. They were dominating at the WT20 and then choked again.

Im wondering; if we can realistcally compare non-World cup t20s with world cup t20s.....Pakistan is in a unique position due to lack of IPL; that they play their first choice XI in almost all t20Is. whereas the rest of the squads rotate or have players away. Its like one side play their premier league squad and the rest play their carling cup squad. but at the world cup...all teams play their full strenghth sides. Makes me wonder if we should lower the stock we put on t20i stats as whole -

Disagree, all the UAE WCs were heavily biased on toss, Contrarily, I believe India were quite unlucky for last 10 years, toss factor, rain factor especially against NZ. That said, NZ still ranked first losing the WC to Eng on boundaries count.

Choking is used when you are in a winning position and you somehow fumble and manages to lose, in both of the matches you mentioned India were already behind and therefore deservingly lose,2 different things, if india lost against Pakistan in 2007 T20 world cup, that would've been choking.
This needs a sequel. Pakistan maybe blessed this time.
If at all Pakistan had chances in previous world cup was bcz of bowling & UAE wc they looked in form team mostly bcz all of their players have started their careers playing on UAE pitches~

Even tho our openers failed badly, still we managed to give 160 target to india, still we managed to give 185 target to the only undefeated team south africa, WITHOUT our top order performing. (Haris played so good too yesterday no doubt) the only game we played bad in this tournament was zimbabwe one.

The entire argument can be countered by the fact that David Miller was not playing. If he would have been there then South Africa had a great chance to win against Pakistan. Plus same number of ifs and buts can be applied to conclude Pakistan is poor than some of associate nations. You are applying too many ifs and buts to defend the fact that Pakistan played badly and term it as "cursed". It's simple Pakistan played badly hence they are on brink of exit which is pretty fair reflection of where Pakistan stands today in world cricket.

Jarrod first time I have to disagree with you that they were unlucky! Maybe in the last WC but this year honestly they don't deserve to win, no game against express pace, Many 150 bowlers have destroyed them all ever the year even their heavy opening partners.
And just being dependent on the top 2 is a massive disadvantage although they have a quality bowling attack, but that also choked in 2 important games which is not a bad luck.
Even if they would have won the Zimbawbe game they would have been Blown away by NZ or Eng in semis by their seam attack.

I think the numbers need more context. Yes they had the most win %, yes they were very good at death, yes their openers scored 1000 more runs than the next best opening partners but who did they play the most? The 8 lost T20s whom did they play? Where did they play? Pakistan in that period played high number of T20 against Zimbabwe, Bangladesh, a T20 worldcup, 2nd string Windies team at home, almost second string English team at home.They have a great Bowling attack may be one of the best in the History of T20 cricket. Does Babar have a pretty cover drive? Yes. But the greatness stops there. Babar needs to do so much to be even put in the same bracket as the Fab 4 and Pakistan needs atleast 4 good T20 players to make them compete for the top4 spot of a T20 worldcup.

Disagree with the amount of focus on Asif Ali/Fakhar not being at the boundary, Regis Chakabva fumble and the Aus semi -final being dead and buried at 81 from 46. Yes, Pakistan were the second best team at the last World Cup and have a great team this time. A combination of a few things including bad luck and the opposition players playing out of their skin. The World Cup in this format can be harsh.
