I'm glad I watched this show, as bittersweet as it was to see everybody go on their own seperate paths. This was a mighty video, you really gave a great examination of the all the main themes!
Was looking everywhere to find someone talking about this anime, it truly is an underrated masterpiece. Another reminder it changed my life. Great video, love the way you discussed the themes in the show, hope to see more in the future!
H&C really does capture very specifically this time of early adolescence in which everything is uncertain and always moving. As someone going through that right now, seeing the characters in H&C survive it all comforts me greatly. There is a surprisingly large amount of themes in H&C and your video does well to cover them. I enjoyed watching it!
Still in the top 1% of anime I've watched, thanks for choosing to nudge a spotlight onto H&C for NOVID. It was a good refresher on how strong the emotions it evokes remain.
absolutely awesome analysis! thank you so much for this. it makes me sobbing the whole video as another college student not sure of my future like Takemoto :")
That was a beautiful analysis. Very well thought out and articulated, yet raw at the same time. When I first watched the show, I was in my late teens and now am an adult who's been working for a third of his life. H&C is one of, if not my favorite anime of all time and I always revisit it when I'm feeling the blues. I think this is Chica Umino's masterpiece as it depicts the uncertainties of life no matter what stage of life you're going through, but that the beauty of life is sharing the experience with the people most dear to you. I just want you to know I also was once an uncertain college graduate, and I felt a lot of the struggles the H&C characters went through as I'm sure you're feeling it to. It does get better, and life is full of great moments to love and appreciate. So good luck and hang in there!
You made me tear up. I remember all the feelings I felt while watching the series before I finished high school and entered college. It really struck with me as someone who struggles to find meaning. Although Takemoto and I have different MBTIs, I was drawn to him the most. So it was painful to see him go through that unrequited love. I've been asking myself what constitutes the "best anime" having watched the popular ones but I can say that Honey and Clover is still my top tier. Thank you for sharing your analysis.
I bought all of the books online a few years ago, they were extremely hard to find. One copy was 180$… I can’t believe they aren’t printed anymore. I miss them all the time.
This was an incredible video! I've been infatuated with Honey and Clover for a while and I am extremely excited to see others experiencing similar vibes from the series that I did. Thank you for this, I really enjoyed it :))
