I took up street dancing within the last year after Bombrush Cyberfunk came out. It put me right back in the mindset of a kid playing JSRF for the first time and I had been loving it, and it encouraged me to take up dancing which I'd always been too embarrassed to do before. I started getting compliments from my roommate and have gotten pretty good at it. It wasn't until I revisited this video that I realized just how many moves I was using came DIRECTLY from these idle animations and the character select dances; I've always loved JSRF but these things were apparently so hardwired into me that I've been stealing Hideki Naganuma's moves without even realizing it.
Definitely. I would have been fine if they were all in the hub stage but their dances alongside their stage really gives off the feeling of 'their world, their turf'.
Hey believe it or not I can dance in rollerblades you just have to have a good balance and good reaction time if something was to go wrong. It took me a while to learn but now I know how to do corns dance lol
It doesn't seem to be very popular in north America, but the things you can do with inline wheels strapped to your feet is pretty nuts. All of the grinds and switch ups in Jet Set Radio Future are real grinds people do street skating(though clearly exagurated, you're probably not going to see more than three switch ups on a hand rail grind unless it's the highest level of skating.) And all of the "dances" are animated from skate slalom moves. Like really, check this shit out: ruclips.net/video/gf67bDwN6-M/видео.html ruclips.net/video/KDrO1qw3oxQ/видео.html it's crazy.

Honestly, I’m enjoying Bomb Rush but it’s never going to hit as hard as JSR. The character variety helps out with how nostalgic and perfect JSR was for both games. Really hoping the success with Bomb Rush will WAKE SEGA UP!
SEGA woke up years ago... now they finally announced bunch of classic, incluiding and being the protagonist, Jet Set Radio. That games have been in development awhile ago so we are getting JSR in 2024.
As a child when I was 10 years old this was my favourite game growing up, I loved everything about it. I’m 23 now and I would honestly pay a lot of money if they made a Remastered Version of the original or a JSRF 2. I think so many others would do the same.
@@user-cu7dz1jv2x yes but if Bomb Rush Cyberfunk does really well then SEGA WILL have to take note & can help big time to bring JSR back to life along with working with Xbox who want to revive older franchises too (Sega is working with Xbox in an official partnership now)
There’s an unlockable character for each location you went to in the game. Collect all the graffiti souls, beat the game, and unlock test runs for every location. Do the test runs.
I figured it out myself as a kid after wondering for ages what the other character slots were for. When I finally unlocked every single character in the game I was so damn happy. Definitely one of my best childhood memories.

The character at the part where it shifted to That’s Enough syncs perfectly with the opening. I know what his favorite song is now. Found out. His name is Soda.
Any else have a favourite location they would always dance at? Pharaoh Park was my spot. I used to jump off that huge tower with all the girders so I could land on top of the big pillar in middle of the spinning ride thing.
Anyone else slightly disturbed to notice that the Immortals have the most provocative-looking dance out of all of them? Also, I haven't seen this game since I was about 9; I just now realized that a lot of the characters share dance moves....
6:53 wait, how did you get Zero Beat before finishing the game? I'm pretty sure you can't get Zero Beat until you finish the game and do the Test Runs.
Out of everything in the video this was the biggest headache. I used a modded xbe file called quicksave for JSRF, you can find it on speedrun. There is a menu in it that lets you do a lot of things like unlock all the characters. I'm not sure in what order I did things until it finally worked and didn't glitch automatically to post game. Before the battle with Goji, you can save the game as Zero Beat as selected character using this modded xbe though. I took that save and opened it up in a different modded xbe I made for recording footage
I think the classic Jet Set Radio has the idle dances as well. You can easily view these with the recently leaked prototype. Shibuya > Mission 05 > pick a character > Goto game
I remember the loveshockers being a main rival gang and a bigger role in jsr. For jsrf they were given the smallest area to ‘run’ and don’t appear until way into the game. I wonder why
