DIY Wind Turbine Build Part 4

- In this video, I build the blades for the wind turbine. I used a piece of 6-inch PVC pipe and cut the blades out with a jigsaw.
The dimensions of the blades are 5 feet long-3 inches wide at the end and 6 inches long at the base, with an indent cut out about 6 inches from the end.
It seems to grab the wind pretty good. I have the other half of the pipe left over if I want to try another design.

I was very excited to see the wind power for dogs. I would like to add a large fan blade suitable for places with weak wind. When the wind is strong, it will affect the fan blade.
Great Video, Brother Luke!
You have work all the bugs out of Any project!
Thanks! Yep, a few more bugs and it should be producing power.
Thank you for the upload. It will be fun to see how much it can generate.
I'm ready to find out, can't wait, just hope I'm not disapointed.
Hey Luke! You are amazing! Never thought of using pvc pipe! Cool idea! I'm excited to see how this is gonna turn out! You are doing great! Thanks for sharing this! God bless!
I can't claim credit for the PVC pipe idea. I found a video where someone used 8 inch PVC, which I couldn't find, so I went with 6 inch.
Outrageous man. Cant wait to see the wiring.
I have a charge controller coming but it may be slow getting here. I might just use a solar charge controller until then. I do want the automatic braking from the wind controller though.
Awesome luke! You are sooooo creative. I know you will make it work.
Thank you! It should work. It just needs some good steady wind.
Great video
Thanks!
😀Very Nice Luke 👍🏼
Thanks!
I have made similar project and PVC pipe is great but PVC need to be stiffened because of strong wind it can really hard bends and hit the mast (that was my case)
Excellent vlog. If you find the blade curling in the future from UV exposure you could pop rivet a piece of angle aluminum (length wise) down the center of the replacements.
Good tip. Thanks!
I would really love to build one of these for my land.
Yes, if you get a lot of wind it would be perfect.
Will be interesting to see what kind of numbers you will generate ! ha ha... no pun intended : ]
Yes, whenever I can get it away from the hillside it should do pretty good.
I've been shooting pool all my life...
I bought a pool table that had a wood ball return...but over the years it didnt work anymore...so I took a peice of schedule 40 6inch pipe cut it in half and mounted it under the table work like a dream..the only when the balls went into the pocket it was real loud..so I felted the inside of the pipe and solved the problem
Good job on that. That was using your head. It'll last a lot longer than the original wood did, that's for sure.
Stop stop for the love of God stop you're killing me
WHAT DID THAT TAPE MEASURE DO TO YOU WHY DO YOU WANT TO HURT IT LIKE THAT

👍👌👏
👍😃
Thats cool, using a belt system you could easy power two generators
Good thinking! It wouldn't be hard to set up that way.
Super smart way to make those blades Luke! What would you think of adding a thin metal backing plate on each blade where the mounting nuts attach? That area gets a lot of strain in any gusty wind situation. Just food for thought. Remarkable job as usual. I hope you and your family had a great Christmas, and this new year is healthy and prosperous for you also.
Good point. I think I will add some reinforcement to the base of the blades. At least some washers if nothing else, but the metal plates would be a good idea.
Hope you had a good one as well.
I thought you were going to mount it up on the hill. Are you planning on attaching stay wires?
It will eventually be up on the hill for the cabin permanently. For now, I want to try it on Zephyr and If it works and seems feasible I will either build one just for Zephyr or buy one. It will have guy lines on it in a triangle pattern to stabilize it.
WHY WOULDN'T YOU JUST BALANCE IT LIKE A LAWN MOWER BLADE 🤔
sir what is length of one blade
5 feet.
how much is the thickness of the pipe plz reply both of my comments because I am going to make a wind turbine
The pipe was 6 inch pipe. I think it was schedule 40. The length of the blades was 5 feet.
Why not use sch 80 for more strength?
It would be stronger, but this worked well enough.
I'm a complete nube, and simply asking questions to learn. Thx for the prompt responses
And weigh em before testing?
Yes, if I had a scale to weigh them it would be ideal.
@@lukeFugate A German VW engine builder that I use had me weigh the 4 pistons to within 1/10 of a gram, so I had to buy an inexpensive digital scale, but I'm guessing that level of difference is way beyond what's needed for these purposes
Isso é uma cagada
