Here's the best explanation of Ateez lore I've read to date: Ateez are pirates who were gifted that hourglass (called a chromer) which allows them to travel through time and between dimensions. At first, they are searching for treasure and having adventures, but eventually they run into these bad guys who have chains where their faces should be. The bad guys are from Dimension Z, whereas Ateez is from Dimension A which is presumably where we are as well. But there is another version of Ateez from Dimension Z called the Black Pirates (aka Halateez) who are the enemies of the no-face guys. At first Ateez teams up with Halateez to fight against the no-face guys (they are the ones in the black hats in the MVs for Answer, Say My Name, and Hala Hala). Eventually something happens and Halateez disappear (I'm not totally clear on this part) and Ateez ends up in Dimension Z instead of Halateez. What they discover is that the no-face guys are in charge of the government and they have brainwashed everyone in Dimension Z to have no emotions so that they can be controlled. Ateez sets up a subversive movement to take down the corrupt government and restore emotion to the people. To do this they use propaganda in the Guerrilla music video and chili peppers in the Bouncy music video (because apparently people can feel the burn of the spicy chilies and that helps reconnect them to feeling). They also smuggle weapons in the chilis. In this current episode (Crazy Mode mv) they need to finish taking down the government and get the heck out of Dodge. But the chromer is broken. It broke at the end of the Deja Vu music video so how are they supposed to leave? Yunho and Wooyoung are working on the pirate ship in the lab. Meanwhile Jongho and Mingi break into the lounge where the high government officials do their business and start shooting things up. They other members are being rounded up by the government but they just have to wait till Jongho kills the leader and Wooyoung wraps up their plan for getting home. When the pirate ship projects in the sky it appears that the team heads for it. If you notice that in the beginning scene there is a crescent moon and in the final scene a full moon. Ateez can only travel on the full moon. In the extra scene at the end you see the full moon, but the pirate ship and presumably Ateez as well are gone even though they left the broken chromer in Dimension Z. In the song Halazia, Yeosang has a line, "little blue bird that list it's voice." I think they are using this as a metaphor for the people that lost their emotions (if you examine the other lyrics of Halazia). At the end of Crazy Form, you can clearly hear the bluebird singing as it takes to the sky. I assume this means that the bluebird found its voice and the people found their lost emotions. But without the chromer to help them travel will they be able to get back to Dimension A or will their new ship take them somewhere unexpected?

You are right about some things, close about some things, and a little wrong about some things. I've read all the diaries and can explain the storyline. I just made a very large comment (on the video, not on your comment) explaining the Fever series diaries, then replied to it explaining what happens through Movement and Outlaw. I will reply as well what happens in Will soon, too. Hopefully, my comment does get posted despite being very long and full of information because it is all just explaining the exact storyline.

So I have read all of the diaries from the albums and watched all of the official content that depicts storyline and can give you an explanation based on nothing but facts from that with no theorizing. The story starts with all the boys as teenagers in Universe A struggling with different things in their lives. The start is depicted in Fever pt. 1 diary film and Inception m/v. Mingi is struggling with poverty and his grandma being ill. Jongho was a star basketball player who was injured and unable to play anymore. Seonghwa struggled severely with anxiety and lack of self-confidence. Yeosang has a father who is overbearing and trying to force him to focus on nothing but studies. Yunho just lost his older brother to a car accident. Wooyoung wants to get more successful as a dancer but struggles with stage fright, San's family moves often, and just after finding all the other boys and them becoming his first real group of friends his father tells him they have to move away again, and Hongjoong appears to be separated from his family and missing them. The boys all gather in an abandoned warehouse to hang out, play basketball, dance, and start making music. They all become eachothers best friends. But then Yeosang's father learns about this and doesn't like that his son has become distracted from his studies. So Yeosang's father has the warehouse boarded up and tells Yeosang he needs to stop hanging out with the group. Mingi gets very upset by this, and because he's also very worried about his ill grandma who is his only guardian he gets very emotional and says he was afraid to ever believe they could achieve their dreams anyways. Jongho gets very angry with Mingi because he has already lost his dream of basketball and doesn't want all the boys to also give up on their shared dream of music. Jongho actually grabs Mingi and hits him. The fight is broken up, and all the boys separate, feeling sad about the way things have turned out. Hongjoong breaks back into the chained up warehouse and falls asleep. He has a dream that a man dressed in all black wearing a mask and fidora hat gives him a sand hourglass, and tells him his world is much smaller than it appears to be, and there is a way he can fix everything if he just takes a chance and tries. Hongjoong wakes up from the dream, and the hourglass is on the table. He is surprised because he thought it was a dream. As he is checking out the hourglass, the other boys all arrive after receiving text messages from Hongjoong to return, which he didn't send. Hongjoong turns the hourglass while inspecting it, and suddenly, the boys all feel a force that seems to suck them in. They all feel like the force kind of knocked them down, but when they get back up, they are in the warehouse, but it is different. Suddenly, there is a loud banging on the door, and it flies open. Men wearing all white and masks appear at the doorway, demanding the "chromer" and pointing at the hourglass in Hongjoongs hand. Hongjoong comes up with a plan to distract the men in white and get all the boys to escape. They flee into the woods and realize many things around them are different than they remember it being. They are attacked again by the men in white and are rescued by 2 children, but they lose the chromer to the men in white while escaping. The children tell them they are in a world where the government has taken control of everything and brainwashed the population to have no emotions and be hyper focused on productivity. The children tell them the men in white chasing them are called The Guardians and are actually androids and the main police force in this world. We see a guardian depicted at the end of Answer m/v and Fireworks m/v. The boys realize the chromer must be some sort of magical device that has sucked them into another universe and decide they need to get it back to get back home. They ask the children to help them, and the children tell them about an old man named Left Eye who lives at the dump who might be able to help them since Left Eye is the only person the children know of who knows where to find the Guardians bunker. The boys find Left Eye and get his help. Left Eye takes them on a boat to the island that the Guardians bunker is on. They get there and start exploring. They find a room in the bunker that is almost all empty except has a large glass box in the middle with 8 men inside. They approach, and realize the 8 men are them. We see a depiction of world A Hongjoong approaching World Z Hongjoong in the glass box in Deja Vu m/v. The Hongjoong in the box explains that they are now in another universe, named Universe Z, and these 8 men in this box are the versions of them from this other universe. They are rebels against the government but have been captured and trapped. They call themselves "The Black Pirates." Black Pirates Hongjoong explains that he used the chromer to teleport it to universe A Hongjoong through his dream, and did it on purpose to call the boys to them for help. They want world A Ateez to help them, but they try to tell them that the moment is a bad time and try to tell Ateez to run away and escape now first. Hongjoong from World Z asks Hongjoong from World A to put his hand against the glass box and then puts his hand up as well. Black pirate Hongjoong used some sort of magic to actually switch the clothing all the boys are wearing, so now Ateez are wearing the black pirate clothes. While Hongjoong talks to the black pirates, Yeosang wanders off and finds the chromer and returns to the boys with it. But the Guardians realize the chromer is missing and chase after them. A guardian manages to grab Yeosang and threatens to hurt him if Hongjoong doesn't hand back over the chromer. Hongjoong throws the chromer to the Guardian, Yeosang grabs it, turns it, and throws it back, smashing it in the process. We see the chromer breaking, and Yeosang reaching out to Hongjoong before teleporting at the end of Deja Vu m/v. Yeosang is left alone in Universe Z and is imprisoned by the Guardians alone in a glass box of his own, depicted in Say my name m/v. The 7 other boys are sucked back into Universe A. The boys realize that they have gone back in time a little in Universe A, 2 weeks to be exact, and Yunhos brother is still alive. 6 of the boys agree they need to find a way to get back to rescue Yeosang, but Yunho says he instead wants to focus on spending time with his brother and trying to stop him from going out the day he dies. The boys see in a newspaper that there is a chromer in universe A, and it's at a museum. It's in the newspaper because some cult leader got caught trying to steal it. The 6 boys form a plan to get to the museum and steal the chromer so they can go back and rescue Yeosang. On the day of the heist, everything kind of falls apart because the cult leader and his followers are also back there trying to steal the chromer again. Wooyoung tries to sneak over and steal the chromer from the cult leader but gets caught and is held at knife point. The police show up and start threatening to arrest everyone. But then Yunho also shows up, along with a group of 5 other motorcycle riders who are his friends. Yunho and his bikers distract everyone, and Wooyoung manages to pull away from the cult leader with the chromer and all the boys hop on the bikes and escape. Unfortunately, the cult leader also escapes the police and chases after the boys in a car. The motorcycles try to lose him but get run off the road by the cult leader. The cult leader loses control of his car and crashes into a pedestrian crosswalk. Multiple people are hit, including Yunhos brother, who left the apartment after Yunho suddenly left after seeing the problems happening at the museum on TV. Yunhos brother dies again, this time in Yunhos arms. He tells Yunho that he read his diary and doesn't want Yunho to blame himself this time. Because it wasn't his fault last time, and it isn't his fault this time either. The boys immediately turn the chromer after Yunhos brother dies and appear back in Universe Z. They find Left Eye, get back to the bunker, fight with the Guardians and Seonghwa from Ateez dressed in the full black pirate clothes rescues Yeosang. This whole scene is depicted in the Answer Ode to Joy Kingdom performance. It is unclear if they also rescue the black pirates or not. Some think they did, some think they didn't. It is never specifically said or depicted if they did. That is all the story told through the Fever series albums diaries. It kind of ends on that cliffhanger.

Next starts the World series and Guerrilla. Ateez has either returned to Universe Z or never left after rescuing Yeosang, we're still unsure what happens between the end of Fever and the beginning of The World. But for sure, in Movement, Ateez is in World Z with Left Eye and The Black Pirates running rebellious operations against the government controlling the people. Most of their acts of rebellion involve using displays of art in public spaces, hoping it triggers emotions in the brainwashed people and breaks them free of the control. It is working slowly. But then Left Eye manages to build a device he calls "a breaker" that forcibly breaks the control link to the government and floods those who use it with emotions. Ateez and Left Eye decide to start handing out breakers, but give the people full control to decide to use it or not, and whether they want to join the rebellion or not. The people's free will is very important. During a demonstration, a child from Prestige Academy picks up a dropped breaker and uses it. The child goes home and uses the breaker on his older brother as well. The brother panics and runs away in fear. The child, scared now, reaches out to Ateez begging for help rescuing his brother from school. This is all depicted at the end of Guerrilla m/v. During Bouncy m/v, we see depictions of the different things in world Z that the boys have been doing to both help people break free from control and learn to feel and express their new emotions. A lot of what is depicted in Bouncy, though, is unimportant to the story. During Outlaw diaries, Ateez agrees to break into Prestige Academy to rescue the boys brother. They also set up and plan a demonstration for the school, setting up speakers, mirrors, and rainbow coloured smoke bombs. The rescue doesn't go according to plan, though, as the older brother freaks out and threatens to unalive himself. Yunho manages to rescue the brother using the chromer after the brother panics and falls from the banister of the highest staircase. But the energy of the chromer being used attracts guardians, and Ateez is ambushed. To create a distraction, they set off all their smoke bombs and drop tons of breakers into the gathered students, and explain what they do over the speakers. Dozens of students use them, and Ateez start to hurry students out of the school to safety. The younger brother is captured by a Guardian, and Seonghwa goes back to try to rescue him. But Seonghwa is stopped by a female student, someone he has seen before. It's the girl who wore the Be Free bracelet who danced in the street during the Fever pt. 1 diary film. This student pulls Seonghwa away into the smoke, and that is the ending of Outlaws diary. There is an Outro where the leader of World Z, named Z, has the Principal of Prestige Academy unalived for failing to stop Ateez.

Now, I will explain what happens throughout Wills diaries and if any of it relates to what happens in the m/v. So, SPOILERS ahead for anyone who doesn't yet want to know what happens if they want to read it themselves. Also, massive WARNING, the diaries for Will contain a lot of violence surprisingly. The diary starts with Ateez returning with the older brother and any other students they rescue to the Black Pirates safe house, worrying about Seonghwa. They start to discuss it when Seonghwa suddenly walks in behind them. The members berate him, asking why he would willingly leave with a girl who seems to be a part of Prestige Academys student council. Seonghwa explains that the girl is actually a part of another rebellious group, who is infiltrating high-ranking government positions slowly but surely by pretending to be model students at Prestige. She rescued Seonghwa and provided him with a map to the place where the Guardians would be taking the younger boy. We learn that the cult that was trying to steal the Chromer in World A also exists in World Z, and the leader, Z, is this world's version of the leader of that same cult. But in World Z, the cult intensified and took over power, forming the government and brainwashing the population. Ateez are unsure if they can trust this new rebellious group, named Thunder, but they all agree to use the map given to them to go and rescue the younger boy. Ateez breaks into 2 teams of 4, team 1 to break in and use the chromer to rescue the boy and all the other prisoners, and team 2 to create a distraction outside. They use drones, shaped as blue butterflies, to scout out the way. Yeosang directs multiple blue butterfly drones with cameras into the building to find the prisoners. He gives team 1 the all clear and joins team 2 with the distraction and fight. Unfortunately, without the chromer to use to avoid attacks, the 4 boys eventually start to lose to the stronger Android Guardians and start to fall down. Team 2 is captured by Guardians armed with hand guns. Team 1 is trying to settle prisoners they've rescued with the chromer into the safe house bunker when they hear a gunshot. A black pirate bursts in covered in blood and warns them armed Guardians are outside and that they need to run. Immediately after, a guardian breaks in with a beam saber and cuts down the black pirate follower. Seonghwa becomes unsure if Thunder deceived him or not. Back with team 2, Guardians bring out the younger boy and tell Hongjoong he needs to get his members with the chromer to join them or he will unalive the boy. The guardian gives them 10 minutes. Team 1 is using the spatial movement function of the chromer to fight off Guardians at the bunker when they get the radio call from Hongjoong about the situation. But there are too many, and they all end up being struck down from beam sabers. The Guardians start to kick the members of team 1 while they are down and bleeding. The members of team 1 are starting to lose hope, when suddenly there is a zap sound. People wearing masks carrying long rods with modified shocking technology on the end flood the bunker and fight off the guardians. They help team 1 members up, and without removing the masks, explain they will finish rescuing all the prisoners and other black pirates while team 1 return to rescue team 2. Although unsure because they don't know who these people are, team 1 agrees and activates the chromer immediately. Before they disappear, though, the older brother leaps in to join them. Just as the Guardians timer was reaching 0 back with team 2, team 1 appears, and use the spatial movement ability to appear and disappear in front of all the Guardians in the square, disarming them quicker then they can react. They throw the guns into a furnace that has been set up to burn the bodies of the executed prisoners in the square. The head guardian grabs the younger boy and threatens to throw him into the furnace, too, if all of Ateez doesn't surrender. All of the members stop and allow themselves to be restrained as well. The older brother, who had been hiding, takes a small knife he keeps in his pocket out, sneaks up behind Yunho, and gives it to him. Yunho breaks free of his binds and hands the knife to Seonghwa. The Head Guardian, with the chromer in hand, drops the younger boy to the ground. The members are relieved the boy is safe, but then the boy sits up, looks up at the Guardian, and says, "Am I done with my role now?" The younger boy explains that after he awakened his brother and his brother panicked and left, he also panicked and reached out to the Guardians to apologize and beg for forgiveness. Instead, the Guardians gave him a mission to help capture Ateez and promised him that if he did so, both him and his older brother would be pardoned and awarded higher standing in society. The older brother is shaken and outraged. He starts to berate his brother for turning in the people who fought so hard to rescue them both multiple times now. The older boy tries to reach his younger brother, but just as he is almost there, the Head Guardian kicks the older boy into the furnace. All of the members have cut themselves out of their bonds, and Mingi immediately snatches the chromer from the head guardian. He tries to use it to save the older boy, but he is too late, so instead, he saves the younger boy, who is also falling in trying to save his older brother. Mingi puts the younger boy down and goes to help the other members fight off the guardians. They throw all the Guardians into the furnace as well. Only the head guardian was left and was chasing Hongjoong. The younger boy, full of despair, jumps onto the head guardian, and they both fall into the furnace as well. Leaving only the 8 members left at the site. Just at that moment, all the blue butterfly drones inside the building start to blow up, being not only drones and cameras but bombs Yeosang strategically placed all over to take down the entire building. The members, feeling emotional and defeated, all agree to leave. We then learned the people who saved Ateez team 1 were Thunder, and before Ateez team 1 left, the Thunder leader slipped a note to Seonghwa of a map to Thunders safe house. Thankfully, Thunder rescued as many prisoners and black pirates as possible and gathered the bodies of those they couldn't save. Ateez joins Thunder at their safe house, and they have a joint funeral for the black pirate members lost as well as The Grimes siblings. The Grimes siblings were the 2 children who saved Ateez back in the forest the first day they arrived in World Z. The Grimes siblings tried to rescue them again the day Yeosang was captured but were captured and had the energy of their souls removed by Guardians. Thunder purposely rescued the Grimes siblings bodies, because as it turns out, The Grimes siblings are the reason the lead girl of Thunder broke free from her brainwashing. The Grimes siblings used to sing in the streets long before the Black Pirates and Ateez came along. The leader of Thunder, the Be Free Girl, explains this to Seonghwa and explains that it is her goal to infiltrate Z's safehouse and take him down. She has found a way to make it look like her emotion chip functions properly and passes all of her tests. The end of the diary is a scene where Thunder is appointed to be Z's new assistant and meets him in his office for the first time. As you can see, none of this is depicted through the m/v, probably because it is all very dark and violent. I will say I think the depictions of the story through the music videos are not meant to tell the story necessarily, but meant to be almost like entertaining and performative side stories. Now, the only theory I will mention. During Halazia, we are introduced to the Blue Bird with the lyrics of the blue bird losing its voice, but its voice is the one that will awaken the world. In Korean lore, a Blue Bird is seen as a representation of a rebellious leaders soul after they are lost in battle. The story of why that belief started is rooted in the rebellion of 1895 in Korea. The peasants leader was executed by the Japanese, and the peasants in mourning started to sing a song called Blue Bird. My theory, the Blue Bird represents the Grimes Siblings souls. They awakened the Thunder leader with their singing, their voices, and their souls were taken by the Guardians, and now Thunder is on a mission to get close enough to take out Z. Also, a little note for everyone, no where in the diary does it mention the chromer being broken. So I am not sure why it is shown as broken here, maybe a spoiler for the next comeback?
