I recently bought the 2021 model of this bag and absolutely love it. It comfortably holds as many discs as my Grip CS2 and is so much more enjoyable to interact with and use on the course. Amazing product.
Your reviews are fantastic! I was going back and forth on a pound bag a few years ago and found your review. You made the decision much more comfortable. I am now searching for a small bag to keep in my truck while traveling and once again you came through with a great review. Thanks for your dedication to the sport :)
finally got around to buying the mini after having the carolina team for the last year. stupid excited to try it out! love my carolina and i’m pumped to have a travel version
@@Ramus223 so my Carolina team is like 15 years old, and the new ones have some improvements (though they’re still basically the same); so I can’t be sure. But in general I prefer the mini because for this style of bag, I prefer to use a single shoulder strap instead of a backpack harness, and the Carolina is just quite large for that (unless you only carry 12 discs in it, then it’s fantastic). So basically, regardless of which of these bags I carry, I’m almost always only carrying 10-12 discs and using the shoulder strap. They’re VERY similar, I just like the smaller form factor most of the time. I do use my Carolina for competitive rounds and field work though! I keep my mini deluxe in my trunk loaded and ready for whatever the day may bring. Takes up almost no space so I can still get groceries and whatever else in my trunk. If you’re only going to have one bag though and you’re committed to this style, I definitely would recommend the Carolina because you can carry up to 18 discs fairly comfortably and it’s also very good at carrying fewer, just takes up more space.
I'm impressed. I'm going on a trip to Cali and wanted a small bag to carry on the plane so I've been looking at $30 bags on amazon... Now I'm thinking I need this haha. There's no way I'm hauling my Ridge V3 across the country.
Bought the mini for $109ish after three months of using one of my old beat to crap snowboard packs for disc golf. This bag was recommended by a member of the NJ Disc Golf HOF. Maybe the lower price is cuz it is now made in China. It's a big improvement for the last 11 rounds. Couldn't be happier with the Revolution Mini. Tossed the cradle per Doth's recommendation. I keep finding new features and pockets to use. The Revolution $90 backpack harness was a bit pricy, so I nabbed a $25 backpack setup from Amazon that works well. I carry about 11-12 discs including two putters and play 4-5 rounds per week. Would buy again.
The newer design comes with a foam cradle and attachment points for quad straps all have the plastic connector. Still can't bring myself to spend the $129 for it though
@@1horton3 what’s nice about these is they keep their value really well. Can buy for $129 and sell for $90 5 years later or keep it forever and get lots of value that way. I have the Carolina team bag and it’s easily the most quality bag I’ve felt or seen
Ive not sold my Ridge bag. Not ready to part with it yet. Ive not takem the tine to use it much while trsring these other bags, but the Ridge remains one of my favorites and I hope to have a Ridge Roller cart to set it on some day. It may remain a permenant part of my collection.
Hey Doth, do you think the Carolina is a worthy upgrade over this bag? With this bag being similar in price to the Carolina after the Premium Straps purchase, I suspect it is the right choice. However, I would love your input. Really appreciate the quality of your reviews.
I've had pretty good durability with my Discraft 12 Disc Tournament Golf Bag. It has been used for about 2.5 years (1-2 rounds a week) and only has a tear on the bottom of the water bottle holder. I fixed it by adding duct to the inside of the holder. I use a 24oz stainless steel water bottle so maybe it is too heavy? I replaced the shoulder strap that came with it with a phenix backpack strap so I cant speak on the durability of the strap that came with it. Debating on whether to buy a larger bag should it eventually fail! Keep up the great work. My future purchase may be a Grip A series (If they ever get back in stock). The Pound bags seem impossible to buy since I heard they sell out within seconds.
I’m curious what his thoughts on the Rufus are too. I’ve got both bags and I’m still kind of liking the mini with straps more than the Rufus. It’s just an insanely light bag that is easy to use. The Rufus does hold more discs and has a spot for a retriever and water bladder though. But even with the Rufus perks, I have been using the mini with straps more.
@@dutchydc I ended up buying the Rufus over the mini and I'm very happy with the choice, mostly because I like to have a pocket to store an extra layer for warmth in WI. If I lived in a warmer place I think I would have been happy with the mini.
@@dutchydc shit, now I want a mini too for warm days with less discs. I can fit about 14-16 discs in my Rufus, I bag a lot of putters and mids. I bag 5 putters, 5 mids, and ~6 Fairway drivers. What do you have in your mini?
@@brannnnnnn I can get 4 mids, 8 drivers and 4 putters with one of the side pockets full of 3 putters. Or, 3 mids, 8 drivers and 2 putters when having both side zips open for gear. You can get a small sweatshirt stuffed into one of the side zippers if needed.
If I went back and watched my review of the G-Series It might change my mind, as it has been a long time since I tried it. I remember wanting to like the G-Series, but just kind of frustrated at how crowded it felt both for storage and for discs over-laping and angling weird. I think the Deluxe Mini is so much more versatile with how many discs and how much more storage it has. The Deluxe Mini is larger and its not nearly as "cute". To really make the Deluxe Mini great I'm adding in the full harness. I don't know weather the extra dollars spent for you will be worth it as every ones budget and concept of value is different. I really love the bag, and I doubt I will ever sell it(I did sell the G-Series). Every small bag I test from here on out will be compared to this one.
How tight is 12 discs in the compartment? You had 11, but it still seemed to have a bit of give. I didn't know if 12 would put it right at too tight to easily get discs out. As an example, say 3 putters, 2 mids and 7 drivers.
Hey Doth. Was wondering if you been using the Carolina bag at all. Do you have any preferences from this to the Carolina bag? Needing a smaller bag than what I use now. Just for easy rounds. But seems like with buying the bag and backpack straps the bags would be about the same price. What are your thoughts?
I've used both the mini and the Carolina a lot. It really just boils down to how many discs and other stuff you want to carry. If I want to carry a larger jacket and 4 putters for warm up, or some other extra discs then The Carolina makes more sense
Welcome back, Doth! When are you dropping the Dual Pack review? I’m curious if you’ve used it without the plastic cradle? Seems like you’d be able to fit more discs without it.
Probably within the next 3 weeks I will have that review out. Yes I tested it without the frame and its a total NO GO. Its not really even fair to the bag to use it that way. The bag just collapses in on itself with the divider out. The dual pack is the least impressive of the 3 Revolution bags. With some tweaking it is a good bag. If they changed a bit about how its made it could be a great bag.
@@DothSavekthanks! I’m looking forward to your review. Interested to see what tweaks you made to make it work and not collapse in on itself. Keep up the great work!
Could you recommend a cheaper alternative to a 10 disc capacity bag? Sort of your second favorite? For lightning rounds. 2 putter, 3 mids, 5 drivers. THANKS!
@@DothSavek Re-watching that review as we speak, forgot about it! The capacity is similar to the Revolution, do you think the price jump is worth it if it is not my primary bag?
Yes I have 5 bags in house that I will review before I buy any more. 1 of those is an old style Voyager bag. I may save it for last and get a new style voyager to compare it with. Either way it is a bag that has got very many requests and I would like to do it soon
Probably the next few weeks. Maybe as soon as this week. I'm done testing it, but have not decided for sure on what I will record next. I have 4 bags ready to record for right now.
To follow up, I have reached out to the company by phone and email with no response for the last couple weeks. Not a good look on their part. I think they are more active on FB so maybe I’ll try there. The Carolina bag is amazing but I’d still like to know if it carries a warranty.
E-mail is not the best way to contact them. they are way more old school than that. I would keep trying them on the phone during normal business hours and I bet you will get through. I've looked and couldn't figure out if they offer a warranty. They are super proud of the high quality materials and workmanship so I would expect a good long warranty, but not having it clearly stated seems like a poor oversight at best
@@DothSavek thanks Doth! Great to know. They do seem quite proud of their products so I would expect the same. I am amazed at the quality of my Revolution bag so far, I just hope it is guaranteed for a while. Love watching your videos.
