So are some stones set and fired with the clay and others have to be set with Glue afterwards? I read on a package if silver Clay that you get 10 to 15 percent shrinkage after firing. How do the stones still fit?

How can i set opal using silver clay? i know i cannot fire opal, i just cant find a solution for it.

The stone is set after the piece is fired

try using Gilson opal (lab created) it has no water content and people have been blowing glass and inlaying Gilson opal inside the glass
