Once I saw a picture about an elderly Mongolian woman and I was astonished: she looked exactly like my grandmother. She is Hungarian and her family's been living in the Carpathian basin for centuries.
I can relate. i am strongly drawn to the Mogolian culture.. In my maiden name I am a "cow herder'; - Gulas. Too many people recognize my Hungarian look. M Dad myself, and my son have strong characteristics (especially physically looks) regarding a Hungarian/Mongolian background.
I was Lucky to visit this beautiful country and his nice people...indeed,it's sometimes hard to believe...but,anyway,steppes,wind and horses...magic,shidet!Bayarlalaa!
I never ever write comments on youtube video. But, this time after watching this wonderful production I really wish to congratulate those people who made this great thing. So simple, so unique and so complex of ideas with all the beauty of Mongolia. As a citizen of this country I was really proud to see and share it on my FB page. Just love it.
My wife is Mongolian (Born and raised until 22) and I'm American. There has never been a Mongolian that I have met that wasn't as nice as could be to us and just a wonderful soul. It is a very beautiful country and I feel that all countries should model their everything after Mongolia.

I'd suggest not to expect much from them. They can be the exact opposite of freindly as well. But considering the amount of tourists seems to be increasing, still worth visiting somehow. Enjoy your trip

Mongolians love everyone except for maybe some chinese people. That's just because the Chinese are trying to claim Chinggis Khan as chinese now. They even teach it in their schools.
DrTBone The Mongolians don't get along with the Chinese because of their long history of fighting for control over land and border disputes, not because the Chinese are trying to claim Genghis Khan as Chinese. Genghis Khan doesn't even have a Chinese name to begin with and to be honest, the Chinese have no reason to try to claim him as their own. The Chinese have always seen the Mongolians as barbarians during the dynastic periods. I have no idea where you got the idea that they're teaching that in schools. On another note, props to the people who made such a beautiful video and for sharing this wonderful music to the world :)
karatesushi Yep, We Chinese are teaching that in history book. Purely because China is a multi-culture state and absolutely majority of mogolian population reside within China. Genghis Khan's kid once unified China in history, and Yuan dynasty established by grand son of Genghis Khan is considered as legitmate dynasty of China.
What would it sound like without the very formal, professionalized perfomance-style interpretation? I would love to hear and see it performed in the indigenous manner (if it is even actually an indigenous song). This operatic style is made for tourism and its audiences - but even as a tourist I would like to hear a traditional, indigenous performance.
