    In conversation with Hector Tobar
    June 29, 2017 | ALOUD @ Aratani Theatre
Twenty years after her Booker Prize-winning novel The God of Small Things, internationally celebrated author Arundhati Roy returns to fiction with a dazzling new novel. The Ministry of Utmost Happiness journeys across the Indian subcontinent braiding together a cast of characters who have been once broken by the world they live in and then rescued by acts of love and hope. This beautifully told novel demonstrates on every page the originality of Roy’s voice and her remarkable storytelling ability. In a rare visit to the U.S., and joined by prize-winning novelist and former L.A. Times columnist, Héctor Tobar, she will read from her new novel and discuss her impressive body of work that includes recent nonfiction books such as Field Notes on Democracy and most recently Things That Can and Cannot Be Said.
