- In this video I'm making a simple but very useful Power supply to power up your electronic equipment under the current rate of 500mA and 3-15V DC Voltage Range. The LM317 Voltage Regulator has been used as the major part for this project.

Swap the 10k pot for a multi-turn 10k pot to get better voltage precision.
Those capacitors are far too small, you need at least a couple of 4700uF capacitors after the rectifier to reduce the ripple. A 4004-4007 across the LM317 is also a good idea to protect it from back EMF.

@@netrapatil2169 Yes you can use it but it won't be precise and you will have a lot of turns that do not do anything.
I would suggest at least 20k pot and then adjusting resistor values.
Or if you can't get that, something like 50k pot in the worst case.
100k pot is too big for this.
WHY on Earth would you need "voltage precision?" .......for any reason!
While it appears to work, I find the dead bug style a bit frightening, what with all those bare leads just floating around in the case. I am aware you hot glued it for some protection, but I would suggest a small printed circuit board to keep things in proper order. Otherwise the circuit appears to work, however I would be a bit afraid of what I would see if I put my oscilloscope across the leads, I am sure she is quite noisy with that small a capacitor.
Thank you for your suggestion, btw this is not a professional high end power supply just a mini power supply, which supply 3-15V 500mA. Perfect for small DIY electronic stuff. Also, check out other power supplies, which was made by myself. (Links are in the video description) Thank you.

The heatsink is very small for large current of upto 1 Amp and large voltage drop in Ic

What is difference between adjustable 2596 Buck Module vs 7812 vs LM317 Adjustable Voltage Regulator?
Both regulate the voltage down, but the buck converter does it much more efficiently. If you have a buck converter, use it. Just be aware that it may produce switching noise, which some electronics won't like.
The LM317 is a linear voltage regulator. It won't produce switching noise, but every watt that you won't use will be turned into heat, reducing efficiency.
The 7812 or any 78xx family regulators decrease a fluctuating voltage into stable 5, 12, 15, 18 or 24V that isn't adjustable. Supply 7 to 29V into a 7805 and stable 5V comes out.
Don't forget to use a heatsink, as they can get up to 125 °C (257 °F) while dissipating!

Can we use 12V 1.5A transformer
Increase the capacitor power & diode current. (Eg. 470uF 25V & FR207 diodes) But it works fine for 1.5A forward current.
Just be aware the LM317 will need a lot of cooling to make it stable. 1.5A at 12V maxes out the LM317's current limit.
You'll get 12V RMS × √2 = 17V - 1.4V rectifier drop - ~2V dropout - 13.6V max.

HELLO. Can I use a 12v 2A charger?
Yes, but you won't be able to use the full voltage and current. The LM317 maxes out at 1.5A and has a dropout voltage of 2V, so you'll only get 10V at 1.5A.

With a powerfull transformer can you use more lm317 in parallel?
This is not recommended. As the IC gets hotter, it lets through more power, so it will eventually overheat one of the ICs.
You can use LM317 to control a big transistor like 2N3055 to dissipate even more heat and thus output more power.

Hi, that's tricky, because you can't run that 7 segment individually you have to make a separate driver to run that. Such as micro-controller or Arduino. Do some research on "vhdl code for 7 segment display".
