I think this is literally the largest solid piece of Osmium that has ever existed, to hold that much metal in your hands must feel surreal Extremely high congratulations to you and HDLM
How do you say mouth watering for your hand to hold something. Because that’s what my hands are doing now. That’s just amazing. What a job you have to handle these objects. Just like gold refinery people who interact with solid huge gold bars everyday. Must be hard to believe when you first start doing it.
It must be crazy to hold something so rare, although I would probably prefer to briefly experience it rather than to own something that could form OsO4 if damaged. Good thing I don't have $35K to spare :) It pays not to be rich.
Well, for starters, what would you melt it *into*? Temps high enough to melt these melt most everything else too. Carbon molds will foul the surface, tungsten would chemically react and iridium is too close to the melting point. Secondly, when these metals cool down from their molten state they form into beads which are internally very brittle. Any attempt to shape it at this stage and they simply crack. It basically acts like glass.
You're probably seeing results from Google.de instead of Google.com. There's a particular company that is selling osmium at those ridiculous prices but the real cost is only around $75/g in polycrystalline form, $40/g as beads and only about $20/g as powder
Are these metals good for bullion investments. If I buy them and down the road when prices go up and I wanna sell them who will buy them off me MY LOCATION COIN SHOP DEALER 😂. WHO???

I have a bead of Osium, and am super jealous.
hello beautiful collection of 1kg of elements I wanted to know the dimensions of osmium 1kg length width height thank you
So since it is sintered osmium that means the density is not the same as regular osmium? What is the density of the osmium bar?
Yes, it is lower but not by much, ~97% of theoretical
Осмий в кубиках ещё актуально?
wow
Kilo????????
jesus christ you can feel the weight through the screen
How did you pay 35 000$ for one Kilogram of Osmium if google says a gram of osmium costs 1350$ meaning a kilogram would be around 1 350 000$?

Can you get $35,000 selling a kidney?
Don't.
Yes, but the Rhenium is even rarer! Why is it getting shade next to Osmium?
Agreed! Osmium gets all the love for being rarer *commercially* and the fact that it's a prettier color.
