I have had mine for two years, and it takes time tomlearn howmto optimize range. I´ve managed 45 km (!) , but normally, city driving, it´s between 15 and 25 depending on tempreture and driving pattern. I love it! Best car ever!
At once, I can tryly say this testdrive and everything Mark says is truly true, I indead have this very car and its behave is just what Mark says,, You should try it :-)
not that i have the money to by one but with the 20km range even so the engine kicks in at 17km per hour by your review you have to think about how many times per month it would save going to petrol station, you do have to plug in at home but maybe thats a better tradeoff, also trade in value/resell might be the most important factor when buying the car. would be nice the see a review just driving in stop and go and 60km/hr traffic and seeing where the engine kicks in
I just bought a 2019 used for under 30k US$ and I’m loving it, but for a 73 year old woman there is a lot to learn (good brain stimulation!). I got very nervous this weekend because the Mercedes Me app said it wasn’t charging and the charging lines were red instead of blue and no one could tell me why. When unplugged, it had apparently charged just fine and the lines were blue again. Everyone was telling me I needed a new $10,000. high voltage battery, (I’d gotten a “critical starter battery” e-mail in the middle of the night.) Driving it today everything was working, including “charge” mode. So now I’m thinking there’s a glitch in the Mercedes Me app. Have you got an opinion on this?
I don't have a good answer. I've had PHEVs and EVs spit out all kinds of errors, disconnecting etc. This could be a one time glitch, but if it keeps coming back, I suggest you see a qualified technician.
Great review. I'm wondering if you know why Mercedes puts the charging hook up in the back of the car. My son has the c350e and usually has to back into the spot because the charging station cords don't reach unless you do. Very odd.
It is odd, and I bet market research has shown that Mercedes owners like to park backwards :) But seriously, I'll be attending two MB events within the next week. I'll try finding someone, who knows about their PHEVs.
I really dónt know if the combined of horse power is correct since they are 2 separate systems ... When the car use gas, it has 211 hp, when it uses electric, it has 116 hp .... Combined those 2 is a kind of tricky saying ...
Wait, so you are saying that unlike what the catalog would say for its fuel efficiency (which I believe is about 30~34km/liter), the actual efficiency people would get is around 16~17km/liter? (I mean, it will obviously depend on the driving style, kinds of roads we are driving on, traffic light situations, etc.) This sounds like a huge discrepancy.
Thinking about selling my Land Rover and getting a GLC 350e (mostly for the gas mileage!!). Would a clear bra wrap protect the 350e from scratches off-road? Advice welcomed.
I have the 250 d Glc sport at the moment and hopefully they will bring the new diesel hybrid just announced at Geneva for the facelift c class to this next year when mine is due for replacement my wife drives this every day my work car is a Mitsubushi outlander PHEV which I drive everyday in central London I normally get about 40 KM or 25 miles on ev only range and about 25 to 30 mpg on petroleum so a diesel PHEV Glc with 50 KM RANGE Ee and 40 mpg real world would be ideal and a 7 Kw charger not 3.5 like all PHEVS at the moment
I do have a Lexus RX 350 and thinking to get the GLC 350e. But not sure about it. Lexus IS a bigger car and much more luxury. But u save gas on Benz, hard to make a decision.
I know this is not a popular opinion, but i hate the melted Mercedes look of the c class which follows suit on this GLC. Mechanically I do greatly appreciated it is RWD based unlike Volvo, Infiniti, and Lexus
I like you Marek. I also like your reviews. I don't like the GLC and I especially don't like that awful iPad screen stuck on the dash. Why is the black dead space around the screen almost as big as the screen?
There probably is (or will be) a more expensive version with a larger screen, which has to fit in the same footprint. Other brands do the same. BTW, what is it with people hating the tablet style screen? I don't mind it.
Here in Canada that's the only screen, so you would think a manufacturer like Mercedes could design a surround that fits the screen. For me, this particular tablet looks like a design after thought. I just think it could be integrated into the dash better. This makes me want to grab it, and take it with me. If they did that, it would make sense. Imagine that? A tablet that you can take with you?
It has to be permanently attached for safety reasons. It can't pop out during an accident, and you can't drive without it, because it displays reversing camera image. This type of screen allows designers to move the dashboard further front creating a feel of spaciousness. Audi, Porsche have this vertical tall dashboard, which some may find claustrophobic. I don't mind either.
It's a well established design element. The reason for the bezel is to make it easier to quickly focus on the screen with your eyes, especially if the colours on the screen are similar to those around it (dashboard, windscreen, etc). It's the same reason you have frames for paintings and photos. Obviously it's more important within a car as you want to minimise the time spent looking at a screen.
A well established design element? You are referring to frames for paintings and photos? Those were produced to be decorative and to protect the actually piece of art. Smart phone screens now extend edge to edge so I would have to disagree with you on that one. Anyways, the stuck on iPad design seems to be getting the boot. They just unveiled the new CLS and A class and they've both moved on to a very different design.
In the era of full EVs with a range of 500km, range of this plug-in hybrid is awful! I would expect 50km in all reasonable weather conditions from manufacturers like MB. Meaning no -10 or lower. If someone were to make a plug-in hybrid with 100km ev range, I'd say that would be a best buy vehicle in the next 2-3 years. Unless average EV range goes to 400km and prices drop to 20k euros. I wonder when can we expect that to happen...
that hatch will have to be really small because most 2-litre engined hatch will be ranged at 11~14 km/litre (in terms of actual fuel efficiency, not the ones they boast of on their catalogs). My car is a hatch (1.8 litre-engine) and it gets at best 14 km/litre and normally about 10. I do have to say I drive mostly in a big city (a city with a size and crowdedness of NYC, London, Shanghai, etc), but still. My point is, even with such discrepancy in fuel efficiency, GLC actually will provide better fuel efficiency for its comparable hatch (ones with 1.8 ~2.0 litre engine).
Nice, but I'd rather have a full EV like a Volvo XC-40 EV or a Tesla M Y. VW should have something within the year, and then there's always the Chinese. Yes, I know I'll have to wait.....
You forgot to mention THE MOST important thing - GLC and C class 4matic are all broken! They tyre skip at full steering lock and Daimler says this is "normal". The results are destroyed tyres, judgering steering wheel and noise like you're driving a lada. Not very posh. There is a class-action lawsuit forming from customers and all that buy one need to sign a waver, that they understand that this car does this and it's not a mechanical problem rather works as intended.
We have a GLC300, and I understand this tire/tyre skip issue. What I have found is the car turns MUCH sharper than our Hondas and VWs that we have owned. I don't think it is intended that one turns the steering wheel in this car all the way full right or left under most conditions (especially wet or slick). If you turn the wheel to where the tires have the same angle as most other cars, I have found it will NOT skip. Also, in the USA they outfit the car with extended mobility tires. At 18,000 miles we replaced the worn-out Pirellis with a standard Continental tire. Major difference in ride and traction quality!
If I don't look at the camera I get comments like "respect your viewers! look at the camera, when you're talking to us". So there is no good way. I film most of my stuff on a relatively empty road, which I know well. I know this is not a closed circuit, but that's the best I can do.
€77k for that appalling EV range! Na thank you! Still beats me why range isn’t triple what is being marketed, especially with Tesla coming with better Range!
This is from the 2015 GLC launch press release: "The semi-electric vehicle can cover up to 34* km in zero-emission all-electric mode, accelerating to 100 km/h in 5.9 seconds if necessary, courtesy of the boost function. Like its plug-in big brother of the S-Class, the GLC 350 e 4MATIC offers all the characteristic comfort and efficiency systems - from the flexible, intelligent operating strategy through the specific hybrid driving programs and the haptic accelerator pedal to pre-entry climate control. " These were provisional numbers, because at launch only the diesels were available, but the 250 d does 0-100 km/h in 7.3 seconds, so a much more powerful 350 e could indeed offer such performance.
Great review!
Great review, Marek..... one of best SUVs on the market
I have been trying to decided GLC 300e vs GLC 300 and this video gave me my answer!! Awesome breakdown of GLC 300e
And? What did you buy Gina??? :))
@@ihavebeenthere1874 HAHA Tesla Model Y
@@ciaogspProbably a much better choice
Great review Marek, as always! keep up the great work
Much appreciated!
Gratulujemy ! My tez wlasnie sie przejechalismy ...powaznie sie zastanawiamy czy nie zastapi naszej evoque jako drugi elektryk w rodzinie
👍👍👍👍👍👍👍 I have it since 1.5 months, and I love it!! 😜

Nice video and excellent car. Your review really helps me to make a choice.
You forget the Outlander PHEV with 30 miles EV range which is also a larger SUV and cost around 45000€ or less
I like it. I will definitely put this on my short list next time arround
At once, I can tryly say this testdrive and everything Mark says is truly true, I indead have this very car and its behave is just what Mark says,, You should try it :-)

Great SUV. I’ve reviewed 220d, 250d Coupé and AMG 43 Coupé. AMG 63 coming up later this year.
They should make a beast with a v6 hybrid

HOW MUCH DOES ONE 350E cost there in total? Mate
How is it in the snow?
a good one Marek, just change a hashtag (GLE -> GLC) :)
Thanks. Well spotted.

Does 2019 model have cruise control or adaptive cruise control?
As an option it probably does. Check your country MB website.
I really dónt know if the combined of horse power is correct since they are 2 separate systems ... When the car use gas, it has 211 hp, when it uses electric, it has 116 hp .... Combined those 2 is a kind of tricky saying ...
It depends on the powertrain. Some add up, some don't. Usually when there is ev on one axle and ice on the other, they add up.

Yes it is all fake. This car consumes about 5,4L/100km

This isn't really an off road vehicle.
This car is absolutely not suitable for off roading.
C class estate or GLC suv

i still stay with Lexus RX450Hybrid !!
Lexus is basically a Toyota tuned up… a Mercedes is a Mercedes. Another league.
I do have a Lexus RX 350 and thinking to get the GLC 350e. But not sure about it. Lexus IS a bigger car and much more luxury. But u save gas on Benz, hard to make a decision.
Don't forget about maintenance

Volvo is FWD or AWD these days.
Production on paus. Hybrid removed from lineup here in Sweden.
It didn't sell?

My 08 ML320 CDI get 35 mpg highway..But I want more
77 ,000 EURO........no way!
You pay always for quality
Off lease for cash maybe $30k..getting the annoying useless computers removed $10k
The thing is if I trade in my GLK they don’t even give me 10K for it ! 50K is the most I’d be willing to pay for it.

Has 320hp! Electric motors and petrol never sum the two hp’s ! Allways have a little less than the sum of the 2!
why dont you like the C class?
I liked the previous one more. It felt so much better, than anything else on the market at the time. The current one just feels average.
Normal this car had blue callipers on THE front because its a hybrid
why can't they do that Toyota is doing with a non plug in hybrid?
I got this car 😀😃.

The GLC is Not an ev, it's a Hybrid. Think before you speak
Lol tesla, crappy interior as well as crappy exterior
Tesla only competes in price - however the Model Y is realistically at least 2+ years away...if Tesla is still around by then.
I think they have discontinued this model
They are now called the GLC 300 e and 300 de for the diesel variant.
0 to 100kmh in less then 6 seconds??? :) You mean less then 7 seconds… LOL

What the fuck i get 3 l per 100km when driving like a normal person and 10 when driving like myself
70000? So an averge person in Germany should work for 3 years to pay for this??? Sorry, no.
I really like your reviews, but this merc is (like the most) absolutely ugly in my opinion.
Ludwig Pflug lol I think this is the best looking suv ever. Not your cup of tea I guess
Yeah that's right. You see how tase differs? Lucky for me, having a beautiful car, which will get more rare
Ludwig Pflug lol yeah this version of it. look up the ame 63 version. most beautiful one you'll see
Ok. A MERC is a Mercury. Stop calling Mercedes MERCS.
Perhaps in the US, where the Mercury brand used to be relevant.
A Benz is a Benz is a Benz
