You could spend thousands like Chris and get nothing but you can spend 0 pounds and get a mega team if you play enough weekend league, squad battles etc. Heck I have prime rui costa for cheap thanks to the SBC and so many people are now investing in tge market etc so you don't have to grind the game to get good/amazing players
