True Origins of Ghostwire: Tokyo's Monsters and Spirits

- Japan has a lot of stories about Yokai and Yurei or supernatural entities and spirits. Ghostwire: Tokyo takes a lot of inspiration from those stories. This video examines the Yokai shown in the game and offers some insight into their historical context and representation in traditional Japanese folklore. While most are very true to their roots, the developers certainly made some changes to the creatures' seen in this game.

Says stay clear of tanuki: *PROCEEDS TO SHOW A TANUKI WITH HARDHAT*
LOL. Good point. You got me there.
This game is so filmic and gorgeous, so much attention to detail and not just with the graphics and animations (which are great itself), but also lore and story wise. Normally I never bother to read the lore games, especially with enemies. But this game just captured my imagination so much.
I couldn't agree more. I am so happy when I hear that this game resonates with other people. It isn't game of the year, but the atmosphere, attention to detail, and lore are superb. I really like this game a lot. I hope they do more with the IP. I would love to see more games set in this world with the same aesthetics.
And thanks for checking out my video!
This game always looks mad trippy 😂. Im so intrigued everytime I see you play bro
Thanks a lot man. I ain't got those run and gun skills like some people.
Actually, Lamentation is based on Teke-Teke. A Ghost in the form of a Girl with no Legs and No lower Torso and have Long Stretchy Arms.
I can see that actually. It makes a lot of sense. Thanks for sharing! I appreciate it.
Looks more like Kayako than Teke-Teke 🤔
You know my daughter loves Yokai the show. She was soo happy to hear that the game was going to the Nintendo switch.. Stinks it never came to america though! I wanted to play it lol I love Japanese legends though. Always seem way more scarier . When I was a kid I wanted to become a Cryptozoologist.. I had big dream lol :) Great video!
Thanks a lot for checking out the video!
It is definitely a bummer when games don't make it to the US. Especially when both you and your daughter were looking forward to it.
I've always had an interest in urban legends and monsters too. Being a cryptozoologist sounds fun, but I do not get how they make money. LOL.
To quote the famous ghostbusters franchise i ain't afraid of no ghost
LOL, you are braver than me. Some of these would freak me right out.
My favorite yokai is the Kuchisake-onna. I don´t know the exact reason anymore why, but they´re kinda cool.
I totally agree. That's why I led with her. Seeing her in the trailers was one of the reasons I bought this game.
While the rainwalker visitors can represent yurei, they might also be a type of yokai known as the Noppera-bō (a faceless ghost that disguises itself as a human.) However, I do find that you could have more of a point since Noppera-bō do not harm humans whereas the rainwalkers do since they manifest from agony and rage.
Great point! Didn't even think of Noppera-bo. I think there was definitely some inspiration taken from these as well.
Great video not just informative but super well edited
and interesting hope to see more
E2
Thanks a lot! I've still got a lot to learn, but I'm trying. I really appreciate the comment.
Great video not just informative but super well edited and interesting hope to see more

This game is sick bruhh and the editing was good TBH 😳
Many thanks! I've still got a lot to learn, but I'm trying. I really appreciate the comment.
Very scary, but ...great video and super well edited.thankyou for shating andwaiting the next video from your contenn.
Thank you very much for your compliments. It means a lot to me.
A little late but i think the visitors (rain walkers and paper dolls) are based on the Nopperabō or the "faceless monk" which are fittingly encountered at night on empty roads.
I'm really interested in strange and dark stories and very entertaining keeping you on the edge. Very excellent video . Kaapa stories is very thrilling story .
Thanks a lot for checking out the video. I am really glad you liked it.

I can't wait for the JJK movie to come out. I've been wanting to see it for so long. You are right, I definitely see some similarities with this game.
This is not the best game to come out in March, but I really like the atmosphere. It is a lot of fun.

That is a great idea. I've done a little research and think I'll be able to put a video together on that topic soon.

Did anyone playing this wish the Higurashi Shrine (even though fictional) existed in the game with an Sacred Tree and Demon Well easter egg.
I wouldn't have been upset by that. LOL.
I'm a coward and this video gave me goosebumps. Like real to me.
Don't worry. It is scarier than it looks. You could totally handle it.

And good to see tanuki getting mentioned elsewhere. I had no idea. That's awesome.
@@KumaPlays yeah it was after you said that Tanuki are 'wise' it made me remember the spirit.
they are so dangerous and manipulative
@@lisafickle954 They definitely can be. I have this artwork in my house of a bunch of famous tanuki stories. Some are just mischievous, but some are definitely dangerous and manipulative.
