spent many a nights on that beach late 70s to mid 80s ,, back when Baja was still an adventure not a tourist destination
I miss those days in Baja ... back before it became a total clown-car shit-show. I stopped going to Scorpion Bay in the mid-'90s because by that time, it had become too crowded for me. There were already too many Gringos who owned property in San Juanico. But at least back then the vast majority of the surfers who would go to Baja were from California. Now, there are tons of people from all the western states and a bunch of foreign countries. The last 15 years have been the worst, as now there are lame-ass vanlifers and RUclipsrs down there who don't seem to have jobs. They go down for months at a time. And tons of adult-learners, who are the worst! But the final nail in the coffin has been StarLink. I've met Gringos who are now living down there full-time because they can work remotely with Internet. There are still spots you can find without crowds, but the waves aren't as good. All the good points and reefs have been discovered, mapped, and displayed on the Internet for all to see.
