Great job! keep up the great work. Like the idea for getting the mill up! I've been brainstorming different ideas as well for when I get my HM 130, since I am without tractor
The sounds of your children playing when you were assembly the mill was priceless I hear so much Joy Great job on the Mill and video . Thanks for sharing
I’m working on my build sheet now so watching you guys put these together and watching your struggles, I know how to prepare. I plan on using my engine crane for installing the head unit.
Just a thought for others...I'd lay plywood or boards on the assembled tracks and then slide the head on top. Then complete the assembly and stand in place. Less weight to deal with plus lower center of gravity. And maybe better footwear ,lol. Good video. Love the time with the kids. Those moments will never be forgotten.
I did the crossbar by myself just yesterday. I set two bolts in the lower holes for a landing place and once you get one bolt in place on both sides you can then remove the landing bolts and set them in place. Really enjoyed watching and I'll be finishing up today. Thanks for doing this bud👍😎👌 Fortunately I do have a loader and an excavator for the big lift onto the tracks. Sometimes confidence is the difference between success and failure 👍😜
Our rule is as long as it's not raining snowing and it's light out the kids should be outdoors. They always have plenty of time for the other stuff during inclement weather and weekend nights. Thanks for watching and for your kind comment hope to see you on the next video.
Good luck with your mill. Me and my partner just purchased a old woodmizer LT40 electric motor to start a new venture. We were looking very seriously at tge woodlands hm130 and may still buy one later if all goes well with our new business. As they have no length limit with the tracks. As it is ours comes with a 12' bed extension so milling longer lengths up to 30' is possible already but some post and beam construction require longer custom lengths. Again good luck
Thank you for making this video, I am purchasing a HM130 at the end of this coming week and your video should help me with the assembly as I will have a bit of information on what to expect.
That's great! Feel free to ask any questions you might have. I usually try to respond with a video explaining my answer. I look forward to seeing how it turns out for you
New subscriber my friend. I am watching this video with you and your daughter, how fun is that. Hold her tight when you can, ours have grown up and moved away, miss them both. Thanks again for taking the time to share this video us is, My wife and I are looking at a couple of saw mills, we have no tractor either, so watching you do your build is giving us some ideas on getting the 500 plus pound head onto the tracks.. Thanks again, subbed you, keep up the fun work my friend.
Very interesting video. Emma is quite the helper. She had a big roll it getting that head up and on for you. Great watching your progress in putting it together. I'm looking at getting a 126 mill, is what I'm thinking as of now. Don't know if your still on you tube, I'll have to check it out. Thanks for sharing. watching from Iowa 19 Degrees out. :)
About the same temperature here at the moment. Emma is always a great help. She's my sidekick. The Woodland Mills sawmill was a good mill. Im still on RUclips, but a bit overdue for putting out another video. Thank you for watching.
Thank you for your interesting effort. If I may venture a suggestion in, the process of putting the finished cart up on the rails seemed pretty awful, if not downright scary, but finally turns out well, thanks to the contribution of your nice daughter and her strong winch. There comes my suggestion, for what it is worth. Maybe it would be possible to make a temporary floor, thick piece of plywood, either directly on the logdeck or just behind it, so as to build the entire cart on that plywood. Afterwards, one could then just bring DOWN the cart on its rails, if the floor was placed on the log deck, or simply roll it there, if the floor was built behind the rails and at the same level.
Thanks much for the feedback. I really appreciate that. Back when I built this I had no machinery here at the house, but since then I have acquired a large backhoe. In the future I am sure I will use the backhoe if I ever need to move it around. Thanks for watching and appreciate you being here part of the channel.
If you want longevity for a blade take the time to peal the bark where the blade runs and get rid of the bark I use a spade which is like a half moon on the end of a handle to break sod. easy to remove if bark is green.
Enjoyed your families team effort and would like to know if you considered any other mills and why you purchase this mill and would you do buy this one again. I’m looking into purchasing a mill now. Thanks I enjoyed your video.
Thank you for watching. I love working with my kids. I looked at Norwood, Hudson, Harbor Freight, and Woodmizer. I compare cost and features and this mill seemed like the best for the price by far. I also read lots of comments of people raving about how amazing their customer service is. Everything I read is true. Their service is incredible a
Hi Logjam5 - Sorry, I just found your comment. Yes, its a great value. I love it. I would definitely recommend it. Now that I have had it for a while I plan on doing a follow up review very soon. I will go over the things I have learned and what I like about it and what I might change. But If I were to do it over again, I would definitely buy it again. Its a great value.
Good video, I just ordered my HM130 today and look forward to setting it up. What electric winch do you use on your trailer? any advice on the winch will be greatly appreciated..
Thanks! Congrats on the new mill!!! You will love it! I am using a Traveler 8k pound winch. I recently bought a used backhoe, but the winch setup worked well. I put my mill in front of that tree so I could hook a snatch block on the tree. I use a tow strap on the tree so it doesnt harm the tree. If you would like to see the setup in more detail I could do another video on it. I am more than happy to help in any way I can. Very excited for you. I look forward to hearing more about it.
Could you have built the head unit on the track vs the winch and extra work of lifting and realignment? Would really would like to know before my HM126 arrives in May...thanks.
phil 123 I didn't have anyone to help me move the saw head itself. The frame parts weren't bad, but the core of the saw head is very heavy. Would have need at least one of two other guys to lift it. I thought about assembling it on the track, but I think I would have had much more trouble. Anytime you have any questions feel free to email me or leave a comment. Thanks for watching.
On my 126, it I just walked it up side by side myself to the front of the track, then just lifted the front track wheels up on track, rolled it up slowly and lifted the back wheels up on there. Worked great. I love my 126!
I build my 126 on the track. I laid a couple of 2x6's down, assembled and just tilted it forward and onto the track by myself. Make sure the track and wheels are perfectly aligned first.
hey still have the mill? hows it running buy any parts other than blades for it yet? did you manage to put a log on it to realize the log is too big in diameter to mill on it yet? would you consider these a really capable machine and good deal or if someone had the skills to build and trouble shoot their own mill from the ground up would you recommend that just worried im gonna order one and in a couple years realize its not large enough or that i could of build a much sturdier machine for less money with my own preferences built in
I love this mill and have no regrets. I try to run it as often as possible. I have been running a lot lately and really enjoy it. I have had maybe 3 logs over the past year that were too big for the mill. That's 3 out of maybe 100, so I would say the mill is perfect size for me. If you find you are likely to get logs greater than 30" in diameter then it might make sense to go bigger, but for me, rhis mill is perfecr. I can tell you that if I were to do it all over, I would buy the same exact one.
That being said, if you are capable and have the patience to build one, that would be ideal as you get much more mill for much less money. I just don't have the time to do something like that, but maybe some day.
Good tgat you discover the mistake before assembly.. Me after assemble 85% of it I discovered the big angle bars in the wrong side.. And I had to open it all and assemble it again😅
please dont have your kids around when using a winch, I've seen cables snap and go through windshields, would hate to hear that one of your kids got hurt.
Great job! keep up the great work. Like the idea for getting the mill up! I've been brainstorming different ideas as well for when I get my HM 130, since I am without tractor
+Twindadx2 I just bought a backhoe. It's so much easier than staging the log and pulling it on the mill with my winch.
The sounds of your children playing when you were assembly

I compliment you on your excellent parenting skills.
Wow, thank you. I love my kids more than anything in the world.
Thanks for watching. Yeah, I didnt always make the best decisions back then. I still don't, lol.

Thank you for answering will continue to watch your progress.
Nice to see your kids play while you work. Outside instead of stitting in front of a computer, tv or phone.

Who’s going to dislike this video?? Thank you! I just received my mill, am just about to start assembling.
Thank you. Happy sawmilling
so glad you have the music soft, not blasting
Lemme say, super smart way to get that up there VERY creative.

Good thing you got those crocs locked into 4x4 mode!
100% Those are my milling Crocs!
Nice work. Where there is will, there is a way. Great helpers too.
Thanks! Emma is the best helper and my biggest fan. 😁👍
Great video! Very informative
+Paula Darling Thanks! I hope to get a new video out this week on what I have been cutting.
Thank you r our video. I am considering a Woodland milll and this video was helpful

I 've got the trailer version & love it only 10'5" log length but I am ok with that pretty manageable for an old timer
Funny thing is most of the logs I mikk are under 10 feet long. Its definitely easier to manage as well. Thanks for watching!
Nice thanks for the vid
Thanks for watching!
@@practicallyIndependent I will be leaning on your brain pretty hard when I get closer to getting my own mill thanks
Emma is so cute! I dont have a daughter of my own yet, but if I do I hope she will be like her.
Thanks so much. She sure is a daddy's girl. I hope to do more videos this spring. Where we live sawmilling is no fun in the winter.

Dillon hope to get a new mill in the spring I'm looking to get a woodland Mills hm130 Max 😁 it's a new model just out
Let me know how you like it. So far I really like the HM130.

Hi Dillon. Woundering you thoughts on the 130, now that you've had it fore a bit . Do you feel it to be good value over all? Thank-you.

Thanks for the info, I will have two son-in-laws helping to setup saw, the company support already seems super good, life is good
Hi Dillon. How many hours of use before you change the blade on the mill?
Typically after about three to five dirty logs I change it. That's about when I start noticing it is getting dull
I love these mills. I’m really bummed that they don’t finance Americans.
Could you have built the head unit on the track vs the winch and extra work of lifting and realignment? Would really would like to know before my HM126 arrives in May...thanks.

Curious, how comes you didn't build the head on the rails?
Would have been much harder since the engine and most if the saw head was already built out of the box. I couldn't have lifted it up.

What did you use to cut the slabs your daughter was playing beside at the side of your house? Do you have another mill?
I started with a chainsaw mill. I still use one for wider logs.
SORRY - RUclips Destroyed the audio because they claim it is copyrighted material, but it is not. I will edit and re-upload.
Can it not be assembled on the track so it doesn't have to be moved onto the track?
Unfortunately it cant. I was a but too inpatient at the time to wait for my friend to bring his tractor over.
Good tgat you discover the mistake before assembly.. Me after assemble 85% of it I discovered the big angle bars in the wrong side.. And I had to open it all and assemble it again😅
Lol, that is what I would normally do. I get too excited and rush it sometimes, lol.
The powerhead, you say you think weighs 900lbs - really??
In hind sight I would estimate the weight of the saw head to be more like 700 pounds. Either way, its very heavy.
please dont have your kids around when using a winch, I've seen cables snap and go through windshields, would hate to hear that one of your kids got hurt.
Good point. I appreciate the advice and concern.
What is with the chook (hat) what is your ears cold?
It's a head net to keep the black flies out of my face.
