I think the Beatles were delighted to meet fellow Liverpudlian Ken Dodd, and any other of the famous British comedians they admired in the sixties. Ken Dodd's humour is very similar to Lennon's Goonish wit. The only problem with it is that the chat goes on far too long and runs out of witty banter, which is why everyone in it ends looking embarassed; but that was the huge problem with unscripted live tv broadcasts.
It got awkward when the interviewer asked about how many of them had 'Mams' back in Liverpool - since both John's & Paul's mothers were dead at this point
