Love the color! The van itself reminds me of my Vanagon Camper of the same year! Only thing was mine had plenty or rust and other work that was needed and eventually I sold it to someone who promised to do a full restoration on it. It was a fun beach vehicle for a number of years.
My dad traded in our 70s bus for an 82 westfalia pop up. It was his daily driver til the 90s we used it for family camping vacations every year. After 5 years of living in Florida he sold it to buy a new car with AC . I wish I had it now it was an all around great vehicle
Super job. One thing I would like to mention is its best to match your primer colour as close to the paint colour so a grey primer would have been better here.
big fan , BTW vanagons need fuel hose replaced every 7 years , # 1 cause of fire is old fuel hose .gowesty has a coolant alarm that will warn you of coolant problems before the engine gets too hot ,
Hey man, great job with the van. I REALLY need to paint my van (after I sort out some rust issues). Thinking about going this rout because I like the price haha. But I just had a couple questions. When they painted it, did the remove the windows? If they did not, did they say they could and how much extra that would cost you? Also, how is the paint job holding up around the seams? I heard you need to reseal those before paint. Anyhow, great video! Keep up the good work.
Hello, loved the video! I know this video was 6 years ago now, but i was hoping for a response as to what paint code that blue color is. I just aquired a Vanagon of my own and want to get that exact color!
That's a nice paint job but you need to get new front seats or get the one's you have recovered! Those seats are in bad shape. Fix the seats for added coolness!
I had my experience being from US when i went to Canada recently the money exchange was interesting to learn. So i came home with a some Lonney & twoneys. Not sure if i spelled those right.
Curiosity Incorporated. Yes it took me a hour or so to fighre it all out. My bank was being difficult about giving me some CA money so i just got some from a friend when i got into town, had a great time in CA
I would have purchased a pre 1983 for the last air cooled, but they are very difficult to comply with California bi-annual SMOG checks, unless you are willing to spend money, pre 1975 VWs are SMOG exempt and are converted to easier and cheaper twin carburettors
I suspect the kids will rapidly fall out of love with the bus when they hop in on a hot day when it's been out in the sun, wearing shorts, and burn their legs on the vinyl seats. Ouch, sticky...
Nice color, car colors from the 60's and 70's are the best. Much better then all those boring colors on cars nowadays,
Couldn’t agree more!

Nothing wrong with coolness on a Budget big Thumbs up looks great

It’s very clean looking! I like it a lot :)

You have the right attitude ! Fix it and drive it
The red white combo was beautiful

Looks good but, I'm thinking you're just missing some "Mystery Machine" motif on it! Cheers!
I guess you like aqua blue, but the red and white was more attractive, IMO and would have looked better towing your vintage boat which is also red.
I wanted a bright happy colour :)
I like the blue too. Shelley from Richmond, Ky USA
The van is awesome...love the colour 🤟🤟
love it, 1000x better than the original!

It was just taped off and sprayed, I did the door jams on my own to save money. It’s a cheap way to get a different look :)
Cool ride, love the color.

I got them redone since this was posted :)
Where did you go to get the van seats redone?
Looks awesome
..nice ride,

I was surprised to see pennies and $1 bills in The US :) funny how we are so close and yet some subtle differences!

sweet
I think a colour like that was used on older vans?
💗💗💗
SO WHAT DID YOU PAY FOR THE VAN?????
I may have missed but how many miles were on it when you purchased?
Seems super cheap! How much did you pay for the van?
Vantastic! ;)
And the cost of the van is? Shoulda bought an 82 (last of the air cooled Vanagons) 83 was the first year of water cooled with lots of problems.
This was air cooled too :)
@@CuriosityIncorporated Must have been early 1983..

👍🏻
Throw a set of big white walls and trim rings on the van ! lol!
I’ve thought of it :)
Nice 😊

Your MAACO does a better job than ours
NFW.....you didnt paint over that sweet factory red and white paint scheme with that horrendous robins egg blue...youre killing us man. Unbelievable.
That wasn’t factory paint it was spray bombed red and white, and I liked the blue very much.
First!
You ruined the van. The original paint was fine.
That red wasn’t the original paint it was brush painted on...
Curiosity Incorporated ick on brush painting. I love the retro blue.
