Thank you so much! I've just had mine fitted and now I know what to do myself when I take it on and off. I really appreciate your clarity and excellent demonstration. I also really appreciated your suggestions of loading the bike ... I loved how you lodged yourself between the door and car body to lift the bike on top. I've always taken a stool to do it, now I'll try your method. :)
While not in use, what secures the hoops and stops them from flopping around on the roof while driving bikeless? Surely it can't be the tail whip since they made a nice stowing design for it. If it is, the stowing feature seems fairly useless since you'll be using the whip/cable with or without a bike. Other than that, I really like this rack so far. The install was super simple.
I had the same question. Only the large hoop is loose, but it seems to just lay there. I have not had it bounce and slam down yet, but I have only been on smooth roads.
What's to stop a thief from just releasing the skewer or thru axle and just taking the bike and leaving the front wheel? That's a pretty significant vulnerability.
Would the Smart-slot kit 1 help prevent theft of the rack? My Aero bars have locks on them already. Can someone still remove the rack with the T Slot kit??
Hello. T-slot adapters are available. The band is rubber covered stainless steel, it offers good security, we'd always recommend supplemental security for high-value bikes and high-risk environments. Thanks!
We would have to check that out in person to see why that is. We would recommend finding your closest Yakima dealer, hopefully there is a Rack Attack near you!
Thanks boor the reply. Yakima replaced my high road unit, no questions asked. However, that was after I successfully completed a 2350 mile road trip using the original high road, the one that wouldn’t click, and had no problems. Drive from Wisconsin to Colorado and back with high road atop my Subaru ascent. Highway speed with significant crosswinds for most of high plains.

Perhaps the best bike rack I've seen so far.
Hello. Yes, quality materials and good design. Thanks!

Great, happy that you found the video useful.
Another solid Rack Outfitters video. But what’s with the super distracting/annoying Disney-pop-sounding music playing in the background? 🤫😉
Very helpful video. Thank you
Glad it was helpful!

gillyboyNY what’s to stop the thief from stealing the car, maybe he doesn’t like the bike and looks for another car?
Get your own lock and lock the the whole bike
Not even. You just let all the air out of the front tyre and it gives you enough room to twist the wheel out of the rack
It’s about deterring, not preventing

Yakima SKS lock cores are required to lock the Highroad to the load bars with or without the Smart-slot kit. Hope this helps!
is it me? I feel anyone with a knife can cut the strap. What is the purpose of the lock? why not use a mount to a round bar, or T-slot, etc.

Does the Yakima fairing still fit if you have the highroad installed on the roof rack?
You'll have to position the bike rack around the mounting hardware of the fairing, but you should be able to mount both
I’m not getting the click sound when tightening-- why not???

Very Stable Rack
We're glad you like it!
Did you just say niner? 😂
Hello. Yes, "twenty-niner". On newer videos we generally say twenty-nine inch, as Niner is a bike brand. Thanks!
