Could be a while until I've finished covering the entirety of Volume Beta, so I thought I'd give you the most requested song early. No midi swaps, all recreated by ear, enjoy ✌🦊
When that trumpet came in at 1:20 😍 I could tell pretty early on that this was no mere MIDI swap, but rather 100% pure composition skill. And by ear, too?? WOW! I'd be content with even half your skill.
I never even played SM64, yet somehow this feels like you've invented a new kind of nostalgia. Such a great song, and this really fits fantastically. C418's work has so much unexplored remix potential!
I’m sorry but what the fuck? This is perfect? How? This is an art form, I feel like this would fit perfectly into a n64 version of Minecraft…thank you for reminding me why I love this game
Nice to FINALLY hear someone get this concept right. Every other video felt so empty because they had trouble overlapping the sounds. You not only did a great job capturing the melody, but more importantly created the the backing soundscape to carry that melody. It was crazy to hear so many versions without any bass, or leaving so much empty space, when that's the opposite effect you want for an AMBIENT track. Excellent work!
Thank you to RUclips for bringing me to something that hits me with some different level of nostalgia I've never experienced, and thank you TABBY for making it.
dude I listen to this almost every day! Thank you so much for making this!! I played it while my boyfriend and I were playing B3313 and now every time he hears it he doesn't even think of minecraft just B3313 😆
I'm SO glad to hear you're working on Volume Beta, it has some of my favorite songs of all time. This one sounds amazing btw, you manage to capture the slow winding feel of C418 songs better than any other covers or remixes I've ever heard.
Awesome to hear that work on Volume Beta is being done! Super excited to hear "Dead Voxel" in this style! Edit: Just got to 3:00 and wow, this is incredible!
Absolutely amazing just like the Volume Alpha release. You should consider doing music for N64 homebrew. Would love to see what you could accomplish on actual hardware.
I listened to your volume alpha for the first time today. It was amazing but I was a little sad because I didn't hear Aria math (my favorite one in minecraft)... which is completely normal since it was just volume alpha. Then I check your video and you released aria math yesterday... what are the odds ? thank you very much
They're working on it! They've already done Volume Alpha and Beta is a work in progress. This is the most requested song from Volume Beta though so they released it early as a teaser.
This is such an incredible piece of music, I'm dying from happiness knowing that you are working on Volume Beta!! Your rendition of Volume Alpha was already top notch How you managed to make this sound so epic despite using these soundfonts is beyond me ahah I'm wondering how will Intro sound with SM64 soundfonts... Are you planning to recreate the humming, or will it just be the piano?
Hey man, I wanted to say this is an amazing recreation of the original! I mean no offense by this question, but im genuinely curious, what is midi and how does it make the fact that you composed this by ear impressive? What does midi help with / what does it make easier or what does it do instead of you?
MIDI is simply what is used to create digital music, it's essentially a grid where you can select which notes are played, when they are played, and for how long each note is played for. The way I make my covers is by listening to the original audio, and then placing each MIDI note as accurately as I can. What some people do however, is they don't create the MIDI themselves by ear, and instead opt for simply downloading the MIDI that somebody else has already made and simply changing the instruments and calling it a day.
I'm pretty sure it's musical-artifacts.com/artifacts/551 The one I'm using does have a lot of duplicate instruments which is a mild annoyance at worst but it's got everything there

I've played your SM64 Alpha videos over 10 times while chilling or working, glad you continue your amazing work
Whatever i was expecting was not the most heavenly remix of aria math ever to be made
Finally, a SM64 cover of this song that gets it completely right. Your work is awesome dude
You say that there's like 10 covers of this song in this soundfont
Thank you to RUclips for bringing me to something that hits me with some different level of nostalgia I've never experienced, and thank you TABBY for making it.
I love how much this recontextualizes the Mario 64 soundfont.

As someone who grew up with Mario 64 DS and Minecraft, this really hits a certain spot that i can't quite describe
fits way to well lol
Best rendition of the best song
Thank you so much ❤
This gives me chills. Is what I'm feeling the nostalgia of something that never was?

Just came across your channel.
Incredible work, nice to see the Mario 64 instruments being used so well!

A very best of both worlds approach. Loved the album before and loving how this one is coming along. Thanks for all your incredible work! :D

YAAY Aria Math is one of my favorites!
MindField font in the "Aria Math" text
I need the entire Minecraft Volume Beta with the SM64 soundfont, especially Moog City 2, Intro and Alpha.

I'm really curious to hear The End (the best Minecraft song)
No, the best is Moog City 2.

FUCK YESSS THANK YOUUUUUUU
Now to make it truly official, someone's gotta slow and reverb it, just like they did the original.
FINALLY A GOOD ONEE
which sm64 soundfont do you use? i wanted to mess around with it but i'm not sure where to find a good one
I'm pretty sure it's musical-artifacts.com/artifacts/551
The one I'm using does have a lot of duplicate instruments which is a mild annoyance at worst but it's got everything there
Steelpan 😅
What tool(s) do you use?
Logic Pro X, Sforzando for loading soundfonts, various free plugins for mixing, most notably Valhalla Supermassive reverb
@@TABBYMUSIC Ah, thanks! I wanna do stuff that are like this, using different soundfonts like Kirby 64.
any chance you could give us your midi? great cover btw
Could you get this running on real hardware?
100 coments
