  • In recent years, the restaurant industry has been navigating through a storm of challenges, each wave more tumultuous than the last. Picture this: vibrant dining rooms once filled with laughter and the clinking of glasses now stand eerily quiet, shadows of their former selves. The pandemic was a wrecking ball, swinging with relentless force, shuttering doors and dimming neon signs across the globe. As the world ground to a halt, so did the lifeblood of countless eateries, leaving restaurateurs grappling with empty tables and silent kitchens.
Yet, COVID-19 was just the beginning. Supply chain disruptions turned sourcing ingredients into a high-stakes scavenger hunt. Prices soared, and the simple act of buying meat, vegetables, and even basic cooking oil became a daily battle against inflated costs and scarce availability. Add to this the labor shortage, an exodus of workers leaving behind a gaping void in an industry built on human touch and service. Restaurants have found themselves in a tug-of-war for talent, offering unprecedented wages and benefits just to keep their doors open.
The result? A seismic shift in the landscape of dining. Beloved chains, once cornerstones of comfort and convenience, are now facing the unthinkable: the need to close stores to stay afloat. It's a dramatic reshuffling, an industry on the brink, fighting to adapt, survive, and maybe, just maybe, thrive once more. As we dive into the stories of these ten restaurant chains, it’s clear that the battle for survival is far from over, and the casualties are mounting. Without further ado, let's check out this list!

There is psychology at play, that no one mentions. In the 90s, Jason's deli had a huge baked potato for 5$. Now all the food is priced way over what is reasonable to pay. I remember those good times. No, that's largely excuses.
Honey how many of these people realistically get 40 hours a week furthermore even when they paid the lower wages most of these people were not getting 40 hours a week most people across the spectrum of restaurant no matter if it's sit down or fast food or fast casual dining for pretty much the past 14 or 15 years it's been known that the majority of the workforce in those places is going to get somewhere between 13 and 16 hours a week no more than 20 hours a week someone's it might have a slight bit of authority such as a shift manager otherwise known as the third manager might get 25 to 28 hours a week but regardless of your rank there are our caps.
So everyone's been spoon fed the bullshit propaganda about the proverbial $15 an hour or nowadays in California the proverbial $20 the problem with this is nobody bothers to do any math particularly analytical Mass simply because if you did it would shatter your illusions that you may already have.
As far as wholesale goes well yeah there's been a bit of a price hike on wholesale side however I can say that it's not as bad as some make it out to be.
Take an Italian restaurant for instance I'm in they're not going to use any more hamburger and a lasagna than they absolutely have to and you know what is the size of commercial baking pan 18 to what maybe 21 in how many pieces of lasagna can you get out of that pans it by the way they're going to sell to your ass for 12 to $13 slice and then of course the pasta itself is fucking dirt cheap I mean even if I went to make this lasagna at home paying retail for the hamburger the cheese the noodles and the sauce I could do that lasagna for literally under $35 and then if I was able to turn around and sell it to your ass for literally 11-13 a slice I mean come on you still made well over $180 off of one fucking pan of lasagna and then they're going to whine and cry they can't afford to pay the waiters more money?
And unfortunately most of the public doesn't bother to do any of those mathematical figures there again go figure out what it costs you on retail side buying it out of the store for yourself and my news don't go get the most expensive of everything go down to the cheap store you know you can get a 5 lb roll of burger for like $16 you can get the lasagna noodles for maybe a little over a dollar if it were spaghetti I know that you can get those for 99 cents now I'm in central Ohio so the price is will there and then of course go get yourself a couple of cans of hunts sauce don't go buy the expensive shit because if you think the restaurants are using the expensive supposed good stuff then I'm afraid you have rocks in your head they do not use that stuff a lot of the times will buy from suppliers one of which is called I supply another of which is called presto foods they are not using name brand sauces they are using cheap shit that they may or may not decide to season up

So that makes another curious question how can you have it both ways?
First they want to bitch piss in mines at the labor costs have gone up a lot then they turn around and want to dump on the would-be workers by saying that there's a shortage of this workers well if there's a shortage of this workers the technically that means that your labor costs have actually decreased and or they have not actually budged.
So you can't say that labor costs are exuberately high when you're not even running quarter of the staff that you would have ran 15 years ago.

Well what the dairy Queen in franchise holders aren't telling you much like all the other restaurants simply they are in mountains of death so they're blaming staff shortages but they're also trying to blame wages for all other problems the reality of it is most of the root of their problem comes from the fact that they borrowed themselves into a hole.
Of course I can also say that dairy Queen has always been on the pricey side it's only really been recently that I've noticed that their prices have become more in line with other fast food restaurants.
The town I grew up in we have one dairy Queen and then there's a small town adjacent to it that here in the past 20 years got a dairy Queen but I can say that the whole time I was growing up I only had dairy Queen maybe three times because it was too expensive we had an independent dairy aisle in my town that's actually what the business is called and then there was also a couple other small independent dairy bars around town and they redeem to be far better and actually cheaper than dairy Queen.
Now recently my wife and I have taken some trips to town that's pretty far out we've done it just to go on a drive and we've hit up the dairy Queen in that town and believe it or not their prices aren't bad and we've hit up another dairy Queen past 2 years it is a more busier area and I will say that overall their prices seems to have come back down to Earth but I also fear that it's probably too little too late for them.

Well supposed pandemic you could argue is it okay maybe perhaps it did exacerbate a few things, you could even argue that maybe it's sped up a few things.
But I argue we were on this trajectory anyway, go look up a RUclips channel called mashed, and look at some of the videos that they had that dates back to 2019-18 17 and clear back to 16 and a lot of those videos they are talking about some of the known restaurant chains and of course back then they were wanting to blame the millennials for not going to those restaurants.
Of course than aware that the shuttering of most of these businesses in 2020 certainly did not help of course that cost money.
But I wonder once they reopened everybody flooded this place all the sudden Applebee's had more customers than they knew what to do with in the past 10 years.
And that's just one example even Red lobster had a resurgence in business, of course like everything the regrand opening will die down after 5:00 but this is it you went from not doing very good business to completely shutting the business down and then you went to reopen where there was a flood of business since then the levels dropped off but question did it drop below what it was in 2019 before all this shit got started or did it drop down to the levels of their worst year out of the past 10 years and yet it seems to be getting even worse but quite frankly I will say most of this really just is based on the income deficiency across the population meaning 2020 has become a false marker in time.
There is a contributing factor of what happened in 2020 I'm not denying but what I'm saying is that everything is now being blamed on 2020 when I know for a fact that a lot of these businesses was struggling prior to 2020 and they were most likely going to go under anyway I'm not saying that 2020 should be permitted because they were going to go under anything no we were wrong to do 2020 the way it was done.
But I am saying there is a situation to where a lot of things the car industry restaurants retail was all basically failing prior to the year 2020 and yet because of what happened in 2020 everybody is using it as an out even though there was massive problems before any of that shit occurred.
So it's what I call a false marker time basically that's what 2008 2008 was nothing more than an announcement by the government that there was a problem but the real crash particularly in real estate happened at least 4 years before you could argue it happened back in 2000 to 2001 but the bottom line is it happened way before the announcement was made basically that's all the 2020 West the virus was used to cover up for a lot of problems particularly in retail but businesses at Large.
