As a girl just learning to skate, I really liked this, thank you! I hope you continue to bring in more female skateboarders :)
The Seed Man I don't think I need a computer to skate, but it's encouraging to see other people try things too and learn from their mistakes instead of having to hurt myself unnecessarily while trying to learn.
The Seed Man You are an idiot.
The Seed Man just fuck off, dumbass needs a computer to hate
I agree. It is important for girls wanting to skate to see that there are other girls that skate. Luckily youtube is full of channels with awesome female skateboarders, but it is fun too see them in Braille material as well. Good luck learning to skate Rayleen! :-)
The Seed Man Troll is trolling
As someone who just stepped on a skateboard for the first time today, I feel her pain.
It’s been four years whats your progression?
Yeah curious too!
Are you still skating
Aaron is ready to be a dad with all that paranoia about corners
😂😂foreal
I've had that paranoia since age 10 lol

I'd like to see a whole series of her progressing to skate goddess.
Jonah Lee same, honestly.
She never keep practicing, she was such a posser...That's the truth, she doesn't care about skateboarding.
@@laurahellin1596 i dont get u at all, ur a girl like her (i assume) u should atleast be a little more supportive, also she is not a "posser" cuz she doesnt care bout skateboarding.
@@strawberrywigz1658 why should I? Cause she is a girl and I'm too I can't say the truth? She is a posser, and It's no cause she doesn't care about skateboarding.

Ryan, you're everything that's wrong with this world.

I'm a girl, and I've been skating almost daily for more than 10 years, without being able to do any tricks. (I use it as a cruiser.)
It was a real pleasure to watch those tricks with a girl trying it ! Very well done ! Now I feel like trying some !
It seems like they're teaching her tricks before she's even comfortable enough rolling around on the board, I like the idea of riding around for years before doing tricks tbh. Have you tried any yet?
How many times did you fall? I'm just beginning to practice
Stephanie Agbele it’s easy as fuck when I started that shit was easy to cruise but tricks are hard
I wanna start trying tricks but I also don't wanna hurt myself so I wanna wear pads. Will ppl expect me to be really good and then make fun of me?

These comments make me so sad. Shes just a girl hanging out with some friends learning to skateboard and it has to get so freaking disgusting so fast. What a pathetic showing of men this is. How immature and sad are we as a group that we can't just enjoy a video with a female in it without losing our minds and spewing this hateful sexist garbage. I'm so glad that the guys I know and hang out with don't act like this. I'd be dropping those dudes in a heartbeat if they did. And I'm also glad that the dudes at Braille are respecting her and helping her out.
Keep killing it Braille. Keep skating Courtney. Keep learning and getting better. Your channel rocks and it is awesome to see a bunch of pro level skaters helping someone else out. Way too cool for school!
Have you ever heard of fanfiction.net? There you will find millions of stories, each explicitly describing how a girl wants to see their favourite idols engage in sexual activity, with each other or with themselves.
You get the same exact reaction from female commenters on all the male idol channels. There's a reason why girls like to write fan fiction, they actually express their sexuality in words, just look at best selling novel, 50 Shades of Grey.
When women do, nobody talks about it, when men do it, it's sexism, good job with double standards.
Men? Speak for yourself.
Talking about it with fictional characters is quite a bit different than directing it towards an actual person that very well may read the comments
Yoshimitsu882 its not the character...its the principle...
Yoshimitsu882 Nope, not fictional characters, real people. You can find extremely detailed stories of how the ladies want to have their favourite youtubers, idols engage in intense activity with each other and themselves.
If you prefer images, go to tumblr, there you'll see millions of male celebrities in all states of undress and activity with each other.
You think guys leaving a single sentence comment is sexist, try reading entire sexual novels written by women.
I don't know why I expected civility in the comments

I’m a girl who just started skateboarding, but none of my friends have one or are interested so it kinda puts me off to go to a skate park by myself. Especially when it’s overflowing with boys on scooters from my school. I went with my friend once on my rollerblades and some random group of 10 year old boys said some really weird stuff to us so we left.
Gemma Ross sameee no one wants to do them with me ! I have such girly friends so I’m trying to get a few of them into because where I live, no one skates like NOONE !
Same. I just started skateboarding, too. I've got the exact same problem and now my motivation is a little low 'cause skating alone is just not that much fun😞
@@edifatkinson7641 i also started skating recently and i made my friends skate with me, we are all bad it tho lol

What the hell is with all these comments? Braille is about the accessibility to learn skating no matter who you are, your age or skill level. We shouldn't focus on her looks or gender and just on her desire to skate.
MrGreendayzed 👍
Braille should pin this
Paul Foster I agree
This is really true! If she at least tried to act like she had the desire to skate.
nothing is worse than trying to teach someone with an attitude of "I can't do that..."
As a girl trying to learn skate I must say that when you go to the park ALL EYES are on you, and, in my case, that's a lot of pressure 'cause I'm quite shy and also you feel the judgment from dicks...But I must say there's beautiful people too who's glad to have girls wanting to learn it and they help you a lot...thanks to them and to Brailles team
lol
Ratadeclaveguera interesting...
The problem is you're making a bunch of assumptions that everyone is going to be judging you for being there and judging your ability to skate. Honestly how many guys know a girl that skates? I've only met one and she's a lesbian, very much like a dude. It just feels weird to see a girl skating, because it's just not something you see everyday. If little kids can go to the skate park fully decked in pads and helmets with their mom's watching and still have the balls to go out there and learn to do it, anyone can do it, including a girl. Just get out of your own head, you're your own enemy here.
For me and a lot of dudes I skate/have skated with its not about gender. We'll judge you just like we judge other dudes. Unfortunately it usually comes down to "What a poser" or "Damn they shred". Gender just doesnt fucking matter but lord help us if we say anything negative about a female.
So I guess all guys are dicks? Ok watch every one be fine but as soon as a guy says all girls are bitches everyone's panties go flying smh

When I first skated (about two months ago) I felt the exact same frustration as she probably did in the vídeo. It's just because it's a very difficult sport and not easy to like the frustration, falls, feeling down about sucking at it and watching how other people make it look so easy. So don't judge 😁
And I still feel it!
I do!! I had a bad fall a few days ago, so I can't skate until I get better, but I can see the progress :D thanks!
Nooo, this is my third month, I'm starting to ollie
I didn't skate for about a month after my first ugly fall. i don't know how to fall yet
Took me a year to kickflip, though I never really struggled with feeling down about seeing the youtube videos of people being better than me. All that ever did was fire me up, it made me feel like "fuck yes I want to be able to do that, let's go skate and learn how to do that." I never once felt like giving up, even when I bombed a suicide hill that broke my arm so bad the bone almost broke through the skin. I still skated in the cast. I ended up quitting, not by choice, but because I started smoking and my friends around me quit skating as well, so on top of not having the lung stamina anymore, I didn't have any friends to bounce off of and make it fun, it just turned into a grind. One I still loved but hated all the same. I totally get the frustration of not landing a trick, though. That one I understand very, very well. Like I said it took me a year to land a kickflip. Not learn how to do it, but land it. I always had the flip and ankle flick down, it literally took me a year to stop being so fucking afraid of landing on the board. It took me landing heelflips and varial kickflips first before actually getting the kickflip. I got back into skating recently and I'm back where I was back then but without the muscle tone and stamina. Still have the kickflips down, heelflips not so much, still working on the switch kickflips (that's the last trick i was trying to learn when I just stopped doing it) and I've landed maybe 4 or 5 but only stationary, which doesn't really count in my book, but it's the first step towards mastering a trick. I'm just saying I've never felt down about my own skating. Frustrated, yes, but only frustrated because I knew i should be able to land a trick I've landed before, or trying for months to land the same trick only to fail every single time. But I've never been like "I'll never be that good, I suck ass and I will always suck ass." My thing was always just to grind it and become that good, even if it's not possible I never considered how likely it was to happen. all I knew was that I wanted it.
@@josefinaarce8618
i never had problems going up or down something (mainly because there are no flat roads or stuff like that where i live, over here you're ALWAYS either going up or down something).
really didn't start to feel the frustration until i started trying to do tricks that require you to pop, back then there was no easy way to get information on how anything works, the internet was still bare bones so your only source was to either find someone who was already good or just try until you get it right by accident.
here is also a good piece of advice that helped me out a lot without me realizing:
back when i was like eight or nine years old i took judo classes for half a year or so and the first thing they do in judo classes is to teach you how to fall (they literally won't let you do anything else until you got that down) in a safe environment so by the time you start skating you already know how to fall without breaking your everything.
Like if you'd like to see this please!!!
Don't just film her because she is a girl if you only plan to make a video or two with her. Instead find someone who is willing to consistently make videos so that we can see the whole progression of a single person over the course of a year or something like that.
Shit I'd even be willing to watch Lance in an entire playlist of consistent progression. So we can see someone go from a complete newb, to see them become somewhat decent over a years time.
Like if you agree please so it will get seen!
yeah like the lance live skate supports but with a new person the whole way through
Ekbro1 omg this comment is underrated
Wish it was top comment
Need to see this! Ive been thinking about this! There are these 3 little girls on YT called the Pink Helment Posse. They are 6 years old. Im hoping they stick to making videos over the years so that i can watch them progress.
I volunteer as a complete newb! Pick me Aaron. I’m a girl, and I’ve had my skateboard for about a week. Too embarrassed to go to skateparks, but been practicing in my backyard. I am mainly learning how to push properly, and also balance. My progression would be interesting AF, let me tell you. I started with goofy footing, and pushing mongo. I am now skating way better with regular footing, and pushing normal as well. In short, I have come a long way in one week, and with no one, but myself to motivate me to keep skating every day. Videos online motivate me to improve. Even if I don’t completely get everything right, I at least try to improve one thing each time I skate, and that makes the process less daunting.
Reading these comments reminds me why I love the internet so much
yo waddup wiz hows it goin mn
Come on guys, you're trying to teach her something but she doesn't even know how to properly stand on the board.
I know right lol
Gotta start somewhere.
Let's start by learning how to stand on the board then.
ISiupick : Skateboarding isn't for everyone, especially if you have bad balance all together. If you're going to learn how to skate it's better to start at a young age
Bad balance is just lack of balance training, people with medical issues excluded. Just start standing on rocks and logs and stuff until you feel solid. Move on to things that are more unbalanced. Build leg strength as well. Remember Karate Kid training balance one-legged on pillars.
Why in the title did he have to hype up the fact it was a girl like if it was a dude he would have probably said his name. Is it because girls don’t stereotypically skate ? Cuz stereotypes don’t matter, not tryna be rude just wondering
That's a way to target demographic.
Turn...your...foot...
2:08 aaron is sitting like hes getting his school pictures
nah, she has a future! she's even pushing well for a beginner! And besides, here in Brazil we got girls that skate way better than many guys do.
Im a girl and im starting to skateboard. I am 12 and i think that girls shouldn't be hated on when they skate. Some do it for fun. Some boys don't want girls to skateboard because "girls have to stay home and clean". The world has changed and females don't have to stay home all day. They also get to have fun. If there is any girls here, don't be scared to skateboard. Your not the only ones. Don't listen to haters. If someone is rude then just ride away on your board, do your own thing, and don't pay attention to them.
Uhm so I’ve started skating and I use the wrong foot ( I skate goofy) and I feel like it’s easier that way but how should I change it to regular
There isn’t that much of a problem with skating goofy except maybe when it comes to doing tricks. If you want to learn to skate regular, practice just standing on the board regular until you feel like you can start riding that way.
Brooke Walters thanks dude
It's not the wrong foot, probably half of pro skaters skate goofy. Don't try to switch, go with which way feels right, unless you mean you're mongo pushing, then fix that =P
I think Courtney should try improving her riding more before going to an Ollie. I'd love to watch her progression. It's great seeing someone new learning, especially when that person doesn't want to give up.
did she google skater girl starter pack?

NEXT TRICK: kick turn
Keep on spreading the good word Braille!!
but got danm it's scary to watch... so nervous.
She keeps her front foot (toes) forward when riding the skate, no wonder she loses her balance. Tell her Aaron!
Hard thing to teach. Been working with my 6yo niece on that one. Foot re positioning is tricky if you don't trust your balance on the board.
I have coached beginners in skate, and that was usually the first thing we taught them. It's so important for the balance, but yeah its so tricky for them in the beginning. But I would guess that it would be even trickier to skate up a bank with the forward foot in that wierd position (straight forward). The younger the kid the harder it is to do that repositioning of the forward foot though. Your niece is about the sama age that my daughter was when she started to skate and yeah, it was really hard for her in the beginning. Good luck getting the niece to shred man! :-)
When riding ... the skate?
I'm out.
He actually told her that at 6:13. Did you even watch the video before posting your comment?
+magnus soderbom absolutely agree. if they can't reposition their front foot while riding, i even told beginners to have the front foot sideways already while pushing the board, for starters. makes for an awkward push at the beginning, but it's better than riding with a forward foot. i'm not even sure i could ride obstacles like that, really weird to think about it.
also, i would've held her arms, walk aside her and just ride around a little. getting to know how riding feels like and how she has to distribute her weight is more important than jumping straight to turns on a ramp. you need to feel safe and natural on the board, before anything.
Part of why beginners look so unsteady when pushing is because they put their weight on the leg that is pushing. I learned this while trying to learn pushing switch recently. What happens is you stand back on the ground and have to push yourself back onto the board, instead of standing on the board and propelling yourself forward.
she seems really cool i hope we see more of her, also her tattoos are awesome (heart eye emoji) lol
when is arrom kyros ankle not spraigned

Braille is all about getting people into skateboarding. My niece is into it and I suggest this channel to help her out.
This was a good video, the comment section however is total ass. The problem with these sort of videos, people feel pressured about being on camera so are more concerned about not looking stupid than fully concentrating on learning, especially the women and girls as they know they'll be judged more so. Also you have to remember it's a new environment and it's the way people cope in social situations. You can tell she is somewhat nervous and needed to practise rolling round a bunch more, but that doesn't and shouldn't mean some of these comments are justified.
Just realized that she's dating Nigel. LOL 😂😂

You'll more than likely have a bunch of desperate guys rushing to help you as opposed to being sexualized
em I mean so are girls, there's a lot of gross and stupid girls in the world too so fuck your opinion too right? I think she did fine as a beginner skater, one of the reasons she got called a poser was for mall grabbing.
If you really love skating you will do and practice and not care about how other ppl view you. I'm oso a beginner and I do mall grabbing coz I feel comfortable carrying it around.
I have yet to find a negative comment

"Girl learns..." Does girl have a name? XD
Not trying to be weird but what's wrong with the title being "Courtney learns her first skateboard tricks" ? Just seems less awkward
Yay Courtney! Her enthusiasm almost makes me want to learn to skate instead of living vicariously through Braille's shenanigans.
Very cool to see a woman on your channel guys. you were all gentlemen for the entire shoot.
She should first learn the kick flip since that's the first thing you guys always do with a "you build it we skate it". She could guest star for that segment (female stunt double!)
I like this makes me wanna learn a few more tricks
The amount of patience Aaron exercises is truly impressive
Great job Courtney! (sorry if I spelled it wrong) Keep it up!

My thoughts exactly! That pick up was clean!
I'm happy I'm learning!
It's amazing to see how Aaron would teach a fresh skateboarder.. I know we saw alot of that with lance, but now lance actually is getting better and more independent .. so this is awesome ..
I really gotta start skating soon.. Haven't been skating for like .. 15 years.. and even back then I wasn't any good.. I tried to start over last year, but I then i suddenly stopped.. No idea why..
I think it has something to do with me wanting to get a kickflip down before i do anything else.. Kickflip was something i just learned before i stopped 15 years ago.. and in my head, i'm set on doing it again before i can start over completely ..
Is it just me or has arron been wearing the exact same type of skateshoes for like 6 years
i would pay this guy for skate lessons
This channel helps so much
shes a natural! nice job!

LMAOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
I grew up skating with my cousins and siblings, boys and girls, and in the 15+ years I've intermittently skated, rarely have people brought up me being a girl.
Skaters are not usually sexist and are often super supportive of women and children on boards. However, they did often comment on my wack *ss anime boards.
Which animé was it?
This is always fun

Just get a 8.0 cause it's quite in the middle and you could have it for longer. But whatever suits u best

Heck yes! I would like to see her attempt an inward heelflip next!
