Just to clarify the water didn’t get in the engine because it was too deep it was because I sent it too fast and the water came up in the engine bay. If you drive like a normal person that amount of water will never do anything to your engine.
Whoa! Sorry to watch the death of your Jeep, man. I was on that road with my Willys this past weekend. That puddle was deepest right where you were headed, on the right side. Like the other guys, I kept left. Further down it was in some ways worse. Thicker mud, deeper ruts. The ground was still pretty frozen under the water so that saved you from sinking deeper too. What a shame. Fix 'er if ya can. TJ's are still going for over 5K right now at their cheapest on Autotrader.
I was actually thinking of messaging you soon to see if I could join you guys one weekend. I've only been "off roading" on that road. Everyone seems to keep trails around here a secret, other than Gan. Forest.
Good luck with whichever option you choose, bro.
Jay.
Man, your attitude is great. Sometimes shit happens, but you can't get it get you down. This is why i watch everyone of your videos. reminds me of when the back window broke. You kept cool and didn't let it ruin your day. I love the TJ content, so I'm looking forward to the next video where we find out the fate of Big Bird. I think it would be easiest to find a replacement 4.0, but wouldn't mind following your journey on an engine swap to an LS or a diesel
Thanks man!
This girls a keeper.,.
Love this man! I just bought a TJ and never sent it as hard as you do when I owned them in the past. Sorry about your troubles, but you’re finding their weak spots.
Thanks man lol
Hello sir. Former LEO here. Couldn't help but notice you blew through that stop sign. Lol! Good content. Just started watching the video. Sorry for your loss. LOLOLOLOL!!
You killed it when you "bumped" it, if you pulled the plugs and turned it over to blow the water out you would have drove home. You can't compress water.
Live and learn I guess, I’ve gotten water in the intake before so I wasn’t sure how much was in there when we tried to start it the first time
This is 100% accurate, bumping it like that is what sent the rod
I've been watching your channel for a while man I dig it bro keep on the good work
Thanks bro
Yo Big Bird is a trooper. Looking forward to seeing it back on the road in no time.
It will be back soon!
So sorry to see that engine it looks like the engine block is damaged maybe get a short block
That was the pan, block is fine. But I found an entire engine to swap in so it won’t be that bad
Cool I like good news
Yo bro I might from Florida I got a YJ yo man keep you keep your TJ yo your whole channel revolves around your TJ it ain't going to be the same without the Old yeller so my opinion go get you a $$500 engine and keep on sending it Jeeps are made to send it and beat them up me and my friends say keep your TJ we all subscribe to you
Found another 4.0 already haha it’s going in this week
My friend blew his motor up,he replaced it for 350 then updated it. Like new wires and things and he still drives. One thing good about jeep tj. They are good and cheap to replace a motor
Man! When it stops.. it hurts. Love the jeep as you had been building it up so far, hope just the engine change cost you less than replace the owl thing. mine I think is already been changed engine... cheers!!!!
Baskets that’s awesome
Damn!!!! 😵 It looks like Wolverine ripped right through your Oil pan.
Right lol 😂
Well, dang, at least you found an engine already.
Girlfriend say, "I need a bath", Engine says, "Hold my beer"
😂 lmao
you need to do a disassemble vid of that engine
Ya I would be interested to see inside myself lol
It's only an engine man, NEXT! I'd recommend the 505 performance stage 2 package on the next one, slings those 35s minty with 4.11s no matter how deep the muskeg and still can rock highway speed easy n pull hills without havin to gear down...4th engine on my YJ, has a semi built 98 TJ 4L in it
That’s it man!
NOOOOOO BIG BIRD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! She is MVP, she must love forever!
The Interco Trxus MT is good tire! I rarely see people with them. The Interco M-16 is another that's a good tire and I hardly ever see on trails.
Ya I’m yet to see someone else that has them
yeah here is a good lesson for everyone. you go slow and steady through a water hole. you do not full send through a lake that is never a good idea. additionally when you hydro an engine your first move is to pull the spark plugs out so the liquid can escape before attempting to crank the engine over. the engine may have been salvageable but then dragging the jeep down the trail to try and bump start it caused the connecting rods to snap and tear up your oil pan (notice there is no oil trail leading down to where the jeep came to rest. the oil is all under the jeep after it stopped from the bump start attempt)
You are correct. Learn from my mistakes lol however I knew that I had some water in the intake and I’ve had that happen tons of times and it always starts so I guess I made a misjudgement this time around. Either way I gotta learn from what happen and keep going, this time with a snorkel lol
Another repair, another good video incoming !
You hurt Big Bird. Wow. Well, I guess I now have something you do have. A running TJ. And it was only 5 days ago I said not to forget Big Bird. Get her back on the trail. 👍
She’ll be back soon!!
Crazy Canucks!!! I gave your girlfriend a thumbs up for being a good sport.
I personally wouldn't give up on Big Bird.. I'd drop the pan and see what happened exactly, if you can't save the engine with new parts bottom up, then a new engine like 4.7 stroker dropping in. You also know more aboug Big Bird, whats been done to it, and its issues, then another TJ you'll get.
Raglan 4 the Win.
Rode there 20 years ago every weekend. Fun times.
I've hit a puddle so hard I gave the car behind me a wash he said it was like driving through a waterfall lol
Hope you get it or something going as I'm looking forward to doing some crawling with you this summer
Found an engine so it will be back soon!
I seen a four door bronco lifted up nice.
at the end of the video you could see that your check engine light was on, you might wanna check that
Check engine light is for the fuel sending unit. Mice chewed through the wires so that’s why I have no fuel gauge anymore lol but I get the joke lol
Engine swaps are easy I’ve done some Jeep ones. I helped friends out swapping motors on jeeps. You might find the same motor cheap then freshen it up just low mileage motor hope you can find me
Mike
Check adventure jeep in Newcastle. He's got some engines for TJ for 500. Hes on Kijiji.
Don't let the dream die. Keep going hard buddy
That’s the guy that I’m getting it from actually funny enough lol
@@SmokinMonkeyOG good work buddy, glad to see your having fun even when things go sideways 🍻 cheers bro
Just curious do you think if you had a snorkel she would’ve made it no problems?
I honestly think if I was going through at that speed and splashing so much water up I doubt it would’ve helped much. If you take it easy then would work well
Bro that view right before you sent it had me hyped I thought you had it 100% lol
If I drove it calm and slow I’d be fine but that doesn’t make for a good video lol I’ve taken that Jeep through much deeper water than that. Like it was coming over the hood, but I was going slow
I'd let her go. From the troubles you mentioned, either you, that trail, or that jeep has got some soul searching to do do....(and the trail ain't gonna change), so that leaves just you and the jeep. Since you seem like a bad-ass, I'd get a vehicle that can match your style. Good luck!
Thanks man!
well damn! that's one hell of send.
if you need help with the swap link me bro, sounds like fun
Haha thanks bro
How far were you from home? Sorry about your luck...good content
Just over an hour away
Never hit water going that fast ,
But sure did send it 🎉
Lesson learned lol
I wish you luck mickey
Thanks man!
Signs for a new jeep bro
I’ve got the gladiator but I’m still building that so I’m gonna throw an engine in this thing and keep sending it since that’s the cheapest option
Should have pulled the plugs before you cranked it 🤷♂️ you hydro locked it by cranking with the plugs in 🤦♂️but none of that matters when you blast a hole in the engine 🤷♂️
Ya live and learn right lol 😂 expensive lessons
Ouch!
One more thing. I know you're in Canadiastan, I'm an American. Technically, you are, too. What are these meters you speak of? Lmao!!!
Took my trek through there lol she deep
Ya I agree it’s deep this time of year. It’s not the dept that got me. It’s the going way too fast and splashing a ton of water into the intake
Where in Canada do you live?
Ontario
Noooooooo! 😳 damn that was cool but…. 🤦♂️ ya f*cked her good bud 🤷♂️ I hope you re-build 🤘🤘
BIG BIRD COME BACK!
She’ll be back soon enough
under water basket weaving
Lol 😂
Damn sent it so hard. Where is this bro?
Boundary road/Ragland
First thing you should have done was pull the plugs
That’s what we did
But looked liked you tried to bump start first? Or did u pull the plugs before u tried to pull start?
I did try to start it once before pulling the plugs but I didn’t see any oil or anything on the ground till after we pulled the plugs and then bump started it a bunch of times. That’s what did it in
When you get your new motor installed, get a snorkel for future water events.
Was thinking the same thing
You just also have to think about tying all your breather lines into whatever filter box your snorkel comes with. Otherwise your diffs, trans, etc will get still get mudwater in them. I forget if you have manual or auto.
All the lines have been extended and routed safely but that’s a good tip!
It's most likely cheaper to get a new engine instead of trying to rebuild that one.
I agree, I found one already lol
You should get a snorkel, that would be awesome.
Been thinking of doing that
whoops
oh man...... that's all I can say,
Homeboy was beating the fuck out of that TJ.
You need a snorkel mate with the way you drive.
I know lol I gotta get one
@@SmokinMonkeyOG Just rebuild the 4.0
you can always get the head & intake ported out to make some more power
add a snorkel and you will have a bullet proof Jeep once again.
I found a motor with a lot lower mileage so I’m gonna throw that in and maybe tear this one down
I vote new motor in the old girl!
That’s the plan
😢 Next time pull the spark plugs and roll the engine over. And you We'll be able to drive it home. I don't know who talked to you into clutch dumping it hydro locked in third Gear but you see the outcome.
To be honest I thought the starter got fried. I’ve been in much deeper water than that and have gotten out with the engine barely gurgling to life but it always just seems to keep going. Live and learn I guess, just can’t go that fast. I’ve been in much deeper stuff with this Jeep since then and no issues
@@SmokinMonkeyOG Yes all learning experience just can be expensive l o l
That’s for sure lol
I heard LS,,,,I can get U a 4 litre too....xoxo Live & Learn Bro,,,I'm old.
Found a 4.0 already. I’ll be getting it in soon
Cliffy's got you Bro,,,Next time we meet in person I'll buy,,,,
WHY would you bomb through it without testing it first. Practice wheeling with restraint. It flooded because you hammered down through a puddle that you could have crawled through in 2wd. Gotta learn the hard way i guess...expensive lesson.
You’re not wrong but driving like an asshole is too much fun sometimes lol
Build a new 4L not an LS. You can get 350hp or more out of one
Ya I think that’s the plan
Uhm oops. Too much speed. I’ll, enjoy the new series titled rebuilding and engine in a public parking garage. Did you hit something in the puddle? How’d the oil pan get destroyed.
Engine was locked and after we pulled the plugs we tried to bump start it and that sent the rods through the pan lol
@@SmokinMonkeyOG gotcha. I watched the bueno start but didn’t realize that’s what caused it. Awesome you found a new motor a,read.
You take the plugs out after you tried to pull start you've destroyed it
I’ve gotten water in the intake tons of times and it always just sputters back to life and keeps on going. Didn’t know how much water was in there so we tried to start it like every other time and we didn’t get as lucky as the other times lol
Time for a ls swap.....lol
That would be awesome but the budget doesn’t agree with me lol
I've got an 02 Tj with zero rust and 110,000 on it.....thought about a ls swap if the motor ever goes.
Replace the engine and go
That’s my plan, already found one
Need parts I have tons pm me
I actually found an engine already but I appreciate the offer!
ooops,,,,,
ya cant mess with water id sell yours and buy a new one probubly easier then engine swap
I had mine for sale for 8 months before and not one offer. And that was with everything working. I don’t feel like going though parting it out so I guess it’s gonna be a swap for me. Already found a motor
@@SmokinMonkeyOG if you got the time then for sure what you putting …tdi diesels are good aswell as v8 ls but I like the 4.0 engine really you can ride limiter on it all day
Getting another 4.0 for now since it’s the cheapest route
Send it ?? What kind of stupid slang is that we used it in the military for artillery fire but never going thru a mud hole get a landcruiser and u won’t have that problem again
That sounds lit fam!
So easily preventable. Waste of a good motor.
Just under 300,000 on it with a tick in the head for the past 100,000. Such a shame my great grandkids grandkids would’ve been driving this thing around if it wasn’t for me
@@SmokinMonkeyOG Listen to her
Replace the engine
Already found one lol
