I left Japan just 3 weeks ago and I am suffering from withdrawals so bad! I've never visited Kobe, but I'll have to add it to my list of places I still need to visit now.
When would be the ideal time to visit Kobe?

I know what you mean... I'm just now getting out and exploring Kobe as well. The best time of year to visit would greatly depend on what you were doing. For something like this, I'd say you'd be safe all throughout the spring, summer and fall. There's the rainy season in late spring, so that might not be ideal. Summer is going to be hot too, but it was noticeably cooler up high on the mountain.
