    McDonald's in Japan is honestly way better than anywhere else in the world. The staff take pride in their work, following procedures properly so you end up with freshly made burgers not dripping with grease like you get in the UK. Probably because unlike the West, Japanese people dont want to eat fried food that is swimming in grease.

    • @ambustus1

      I agree. I can't tell you how many times I've gone to a burger fast food place after getting off work and the burger and fries are cold and old here in the USA. I think it's a cultural thing cause Americans think they are to damn privilege. Don't care. It's disgusting.

      Couldn’t agree more! Whenever we travel to a new country, we can’t help but wonder how McDonald’s will compare. It’s always fascinating to see the differences! 👀
      In Japan, though, it was a completely different experience. Everything was incredibly tasty: fresh, light, and not overly greasy. It didn’t even feel like fast food! Plus, the bright and playful packaging made it all the more appealing 😍👍🏼

    I don't usually buy from McDonald's, but from Mos Burgers. I like it better because at Mos Burgers I feel the ingredients such as vegetables are more fresh, and the interior is cozier. Many Japanese people say they prefer Mos Burgers. I didn't know even McDonald's in Japan is better than in UK.

    Poor Grimace, he has been forgotten after not being used in the US or UK for so long.
    Back in the 70s, 80s and 1990s, Grimace was part of the McDonald's mascots like Ronald McDonald and Hamburgler. But since the late 90s, the US and UK have stopped featuring them in commercials or packaging, so not surprising the younger people don't know them.

      Yakiniku means grilled beef.

      @@isamuominae I worked for McDonald's for 20 years, 1976-1996. The International McDonalds didn't have Grimace because they characters for kids and to have them ask their parents to bring them to McDonalds. All the characters are available for International use, but the US uses them more often, while all International McDonalds are International Franchises in those Countries. The US has 20% owned by McDonalds the other 80% are Franchised, but tend to follow the Corporate stores for promotions.

    I went to Japan recently and ate at Mcdonald's often and I think the taste is different for the big mac, fries, and filet of fish. I like the taste in the US better than Japan. But the service is better in Japan compared to the US. The Shaka spice is pretty good as well.

      You know what, I also love American pizzas. I know Italian is kinda the best. Today, you can find Italian-styled ones easily in Japan. That't ok.
      But Amerivan pizza chain stores came to Japan earlier. So for the Japanse like me, a pizza reminds me of the American pizza, like Shakey's stuff. They are served cold and too salty. But that's what I want. Just like , my body desperately want the real junk food. Ha!

    I thought MacDonald's menu was the same all over the world, but the Japanese menu is different?
    How does the taste of MacDonald's in Japan compare to the rest of the world? Japan is a country that is very strict about the taste of its food, so I am sure you will like it!

    • @JayandKarolina
      @JayandKarolina  Месяц назад +3

      We literally every time we change countries we are curious how different McDonald's will taste 😂 And really often the flavours are beyond comparison! Very similar tasting simple burgers but the fries are sometimes a big disappointment.
      In Japan, on the other hand, everything was really delicious - fresh (it didn't taste like fast food), non-greasy and packed in colourful packaging!!!

    I haven't tried to use the English translated menu at McDonald's Japan. I think they did wrong translation because you don't know what is Sankaku. Sankaku is a triangle in Japanese. Also, the delivery man had to tell which drinking straw you have to use. You guys gor wrong one each. Jay had to pick the drinking straw with spoon. Perhpas you didni't realize it was spoon. You could spoon up your float with the spoon straw. Perhaps, Japanese think you would know it because that drinking straw don't get in the other drink's lid. Maybe that's Japanese service. Sorry.

    • @JayandKarolina
      @JayandKarolina  Месяц назад +1

      We find the translation to be pretty good but sometimes it fails - thanks for letting us know! :) Regarding the straws, it’s actually funny to realise it now that we used the wrong ones because at that time we had no idea. Thanks for sharing!

    One thing I noticed is that you're shooting other customers sitting nearby. I'm not sure about foreigners, but many Japanese don't want to appear in somebody else's RUclips video for quite a length of time and their faces be shown all around the world without notice or permission while they are unaware. I think you'd better adjust your camera angles to avoid that.
