About this wonderful music: I now listen AGAIN, and hear that this theme from 18:10 comes back at 23:38, "have mercy upon us", so it stands on the text machine above the orchestra. Miserere, I think. Well, I cannot agree more, and in this very moment I want to be a Christian instead of the sort of agnostiker I am. Can music take us up to heaven? I dont know, and Im still an agnostiker, but this music helps me at least to recognice what a wonderful thing it is to live on earth. Thank you.
Im lucky to catch the words of the conductor, before the encore, he says it´s not the composer, it´s the Capella, in this case it is a lot of Capellas, AND SO, a lot of variations, of this theme. But the Capella he wants is the Vienna Capella, the Vienna Version. At 39:36, but if you want to listen to him, try 38:03!
One of the best Italian compose, G. B. Pergolesi! Often I think that he can succeed overcome the fear of death, although composer died at the age 25. How did he overcome the fear of "mors toremenda"? The great composer, writer, painter, all kind of great artists can become an eternal existence, when they are composing, writing, or painting, engaging in creative acts. Thus, they give the meaning to their life, otherwise human being can not find a meaning of life.
Wonderful music, and wonderful performance! Pergolesi died at the age of 26, astonishing when you listen to this mature music. I wonder if Bach had the chance to listen to Pergolesi? Avrotros Klassiek, I want to thank you for your music clannel on RUclips!

Einfach bewundernswert!
Yes, I agree with all that you say. But i´ve never heard it before, all what I´ve listend to is Stabat Mater. Are you acquainted to this work? I´m curios because I wonder why it isn´t played more often. In the music handbooks they talk about the Operas and Staba Mater, but I havent seen anything about this Mass.
This Mass is really a newly discovered hidden treasure among many masterpieces composed by Pergolesi. I hope this work will be more often performed and more highly estimated.
I attended this concert and I was simply overblown by it. What a Joy. And is Francesca Boncompagnie not a sweet angel? She will perform the Stabat Mater together with Marta Fumagalli in Januari in the Netherlands at different places. Looking forward to IT!
Lucky you! And Im simply owerblown sitting here at home in Västerbotten, Sweden, far from everything. So bless internet and the wild nature, at the same time. Ive been at Concertgebouw 2017, and since then I always listen to Avrotros Klassiek.

This is a spectacular performance. The encore was nice, The conductor justified it because it was from Vienna. I did not like this. Why are the Italians deferential to Vienna? Vienna owes everything to Italian music. It should be be the other way around. This is the problem. Mozart of Vienna fame wrote that all Italian composers are "charlatans." Was the conductor trying to suggest indirectly that Vienna owes a deep debt to Italy (which is true)? Leo Depuydt
I'll dare to to point out the 800 lbs. gorilla in the room: The performances and performers (soloists, choir, orchestra, and conductor Giulio Prandi) were all spectacular, but the Mass in D. Major, was a 2nd rate Mass. If Pergolesi is to be judged by his Stabat Mater (and he is and ought to be), the Mass, in my opinion, falls very short of the mark, and that's too bad. I hope to hear a lot more of the Coro e Orchestra Ghislieri Chamber Singers, but I'd like them to select pieces that match their grandiose & beautiful abilities. Thanks all the same.
Love the confidence projected by Francesca

Yes, Bach adapted Pergolesi's Stabat Mater with a German text. Not this one but the one performed by Gli Angeli. It's BWV 1083.

There are many great momens in this Mass, try 18:10, it ends at 19;58, have you heard anything more beautiful? No, no and no.
I have to wonder if Mozart was familiar with Pergolesi's music as there are sections which certainly seem as if they could have influenced Wolfgang.
When listening to baroque Bach should be allowed only scarcely so one doesn't miss master works like this one.
