  • Trail Review: Sunrise Park Trails.
I happend on this trail system while looking at one of the biketrail apps. It looked like a small, easy set of trails in the middle of a neighborhood in north Peoria. Theres an actual neighborhood park that you have to go through to get to the trailhead. From the road and the park parking lot, the hills, where the trails are, don't look like much. I'ts not til you start getting up onto the hill side that you realize how extensive the little trail system really is. I was surprised at how much of a challenge some of the trails were. Especially, on the east side of the hills. I was also pleasently surprised at how fun the trails were on the west side. There was a lot of foot traffic, but everyone I encountered was friendly and polite.
I had to do a lot of 'Hike a Bike' on the east side of the Sunrise Loop. I think that side was more of a hiking rather than biking section. The Suguaro Family Loop was a little more bike friendly. Over all, I enjoyed the ride and will likely return to check out some of the other trails I saw.

Glad you found the other section at the end to make it worth it. Just a little north of where you were you should try Paloma Park. There are plans to link it up with Pyramid Peak to make a competitive track like White Tanks and Estrella.

Thank you for the tip and the comment. So, is Pyramid peak going to become a developed preserve? That would be cool to link it up with other trail systems.

Just got back from Paloma. What a great little trail system. Did Granite, Keefer, and part of Compass Rose. Gonna have to go back and do more exploring. Thanks for the tip. I gave you a shout out in the video footage.

There are some fun, semi-single track sections farther up the slopes, and there are a couple on the northwest side, a little further down the slopes. We want to do some more exploring there and see if we can’t map out some decent routes.
A little trail carving here and the could fix some of the really loose, off camber stuff.
