The beginning of the video shows Roodner Court. It used to have a really bad reputation, so bad that you didn’t even want to drive past there never mind driving into the complex ( unless you lived there). But they remodeled the buildings and got rid of the trouble making families and now it looks like it does on this video. It’s always a few people that make it a living hell for others. And what a difference once they are gone. Norwalk is a decent town, but it’s starting to change more now, because a lot of people are moving here from NYC, and I can see many changes already.
My neighbor lived on Knapp st. In the 40's & eary 50's Roodner Ct was a farm and Apple Orchid. My father kept his horse there. Walked to Columbus School from k-5 along Lexington Ave. I moved from Norwalk in 1992 lived there for 50 years.
Wow, just came across this video. I moved to the Court in 1953. 16-3D. In those days through 1970's, we had so much more play space. It's all paved for parking now. I wouldn't trade growing up there for anything...we learned a lot of life's lessons there. Wonderful families grew up there and we all became 1 big RC family. Thanks for making this video of my hometown ❤️
It's changed so much. All the green grass is gone. The chain linked fences, the flag pole, gardens out front of the buildings, big heavy green doors, hedges and the basketball court, stonewall. But it's still Roodner Court. My humble beginnings. Thank you for the ride.
Hard to comment on this. It’s just a decent enough place to live. Looks well maintained. Actually find neighborhoods like this can be very livable. Can play stick ball in the street and hide and go seek back in the day during the summer.
Nice video, NG. My Italian great grandmother lived on Laura Street and they had a gas station on Lexington Ave years ago in the 60's. Lots of memories for me in this video. Thanks for posting.
