Easily one of the most dominant tournaments by an individual wrestler in recent history
To get a tech fall in the championship match for the national title is rare and dominant!
Tf for Zain wasn’t rare but you are correct
Zain and Taylor were two really good ones
People forget how dominant Zain was
who?
@@jwin814 if you aren’t a wrestling fan piss off out of here
nobody forgot the zain train
@@jwin814 Jared who?
No they don’t
Mayes, gets takedown. Zain, and I took that personally.
Coaching putting Mayes down in the 3rd was an… interesting decision. He gets the first takedown and was already giving up over a minute of RT without getting close to getting out, neutral seems like the obvious choice.
I’m sure MIZ wanted a Reversal
It was his only real chance to still win. I respected it because they were playing to win.
I agree. Even the legendary Brent Metcalf said he wouldn't choose down against Retherford lol
So happy to see y’all posting the 2017-2018 tournaments
2014 - 2020/21 was best era of wrestling
He was something special. He lived, wrestled and won like a champion 🏆
7:53 first turn
9:18 third turn
Mayes chosing to go down in the 3rd period was beyond stupid.
It sure was lol
Probably Cael's easiest coaching job ever. A rock could have coached Zain to this championship
🤣
Or.. Cael's coaching is what made Zain the beast he is so the matches were easy.
Benton pa is where Zain wrestled in high school and they have a dominant wrestling program till this day but I'm sure cael had a lot of influence on zain
@@pjp9840 wrestling live with David Taylor in the PSU wrestling room must’ve had something to do with that too.
I love tech Fall
That was a good year for Missouri
8:48 imagine a train whistle in the background 😂😂😂 (Zain Train is dangerous)
Lavion Mayes was a great tiger. I wonder what he is doing now.
He's an electrical engineer!
@@jamescavanaugh9770 Good for him. Glad to hear he took advantage of the college degree. Winner on the mat and winner in life.
@@jamescavanaugh9770 Good for him! That's great.
Zain just honey badgered him
I would lose my shit if I was coaching Mayes ! He didn’t even attempt to move his arm off of his back when zain released it before the bow and arrow
Your coaching wouldn’t have mattered!
Agreed, ref should’ve also gave him his nearfall as soon as he let go of the arm. What a joke.
3:17 what’s going on here? Isn’t this out of bounds? Both wrestlers have a limb out of bounds and Mayes isn’t being actively pinned… so confused
I forgot about this match. I remember watching this and thinking Mizzou recruited the 40 year old janitor for the team just because he had we todd strength.
He still made the ncaa finals have some respect
@@keyboard2758 meaningless.
@@lawsonransom8318 ok ncaa champion
@@keyboard2758 again, meaningless
@@lawsonransom8318 your words begin and end in the worthless filth that you occupy
Bravo....I pick 1st...Zain! Now....who can cook?
Taking down Zain...bad idea.
The king of the eyepoke
Who? Nobody was poking eyes on this match.
❄
The ref is pretty lame in this. Keeps breaking up anything Zain gets going. Ref is terrible.
That was a pretty sweet move by Zain at about the 2 minute mark of the first period. What's that called? I'd call it an an outside single, but it has a duckunder element to it as well.
