It’s incomprehensible to me that as a couple from the UK we spent our vacation in June in Fort Myers. Places we became familiar with are gone. Places we had “ selfies” are gone. It surreal. We love the pier. We are heartbroken for all the residents there. Our favourite breakfast place was “ Moms” don’t know but obviously gone , but we will be back no matter what state the place is like. We want to spend our tourist £/$ there. God bless

Um, better talk to some Irma survivors. MANY weren’t able to rebuild and the state certainly didn’t help them. Just keep in mind that when you visit those areas you are a tourist and of course you’re going to be treated well everyone wants your money. I’ve lived in Florida many years and know & understand how Florida really works. As a matter of fact, be thankful you obviously weren’t in a hotel during any of the big storms because they make you leave; not even kidding. Cat 3 or above everybody out. Are there genuinely good people where you go? Absolutely. But they still want your money too.

We got slammed and thanks to a coordinated effort to remove red tape the efforts of recovery are clearly being communicated and coordinated as it should be. Best response I have witnessed in 18 full time years here. The Gov. has shown fantastic leadership in getting resources here minus political babbling. God bless Lee County for future recovery. Yes United we stand - it is a start to bring communities together now.
