Huge shoutout to our intern Mike Crisol aka Dr. Brick!
We at Humanbeatbox.com provide the greatest learning and entertainment resource for all things beatbox. Today, we talk about the art of mic technique and explore various ways to hold a mic.
There are so many talented newcomers who blow their elimination showcase rounds because they don't know how to hold a mic. Here are a few techniques:
1) Standard grip
Wrap your fingers tightly all around the mic and place the mic right under the nose. This cupping grip creates a small space for the sound to enter so all the plosive sounds can be heard. However, humming noises are hard to hear!
2) 1-Up Method
Like before, we cup the mic but put the index finger up on the side of the nose. This helps humming go through. You can place your other hand over to add effectiveness, but can muddy the overall sound.
3) Cupping
Hold the mic with the ring and pinky fingers while the rest of your fingers cup the nose and mouth. This is great for nasal sounds, but is also weaker due to the distance between the mouth and the mic.
4) Nasal Grip
Hold the shaft of the mic like a trumpet and place the mic right under your nose. This old school technique was popularized by Rahzel and creates minimal feedback!

HUMAN BEATBOX i have a question..which type of hold should i use for the earthquake liproll and sub bass
Subham Dey Good question! Standard grip but reposition the mic so it's over the lip roll. Watch Gene or Napom for reference.

Which technique is best for btk patterns
I ALWAYS SEE U AT SXB
and what about the reeps mic hold if you know what im talking about :)
Vagues ET Reeps in his battle days did the full grip. Other U.K. Bbxrs use variations of the full grip, where the pinky and ring finger may not be cupping the mic.
If you are referring to when Reeps uses the "bigger" mic, possibly the shure sm7b, it's a $400 mic; some 3x pricier than a shure sm58, you don't need mic technique. That beast will capture whatever is in front of it.
Intro music?
