    You have the same torque wrench I do. You never lose them and they are always with you. Lol

    Thanks for the video. Really excited to see your YXZ content. Seems like it might be even better with this new 6 speed. Oil change didn't seem too bad, but yeah, that damn Gorilla putting on the factory filters makes it hell the first go-round!

      It would have been as easy as an RMAX transmission fluid change had the oil filter only been hand tight.

      Right on. Yeah, the first oil filter change is always "Human vs Gorilla" glad you one. Can't wait for more videos! This will most likely be our second machine, my wife just doesn't know it yet lol!@@MassiveOverkill

      DO IT!! Let your wife know that the ride in the YXZ is much more comfortable and stable for when you're doing wild stuff!

    Thank you for making this video. My wife and I are going to look at the 24 YXZ xtr this Saturday at my local dealer.I have a question can the complete service be done from underneath or do you still have to repeat the procedure you showed for both filter removal and fill? I’m 57 and mechanically inclined I have owned Yamaha snowmobiles and dirt bikes my whole life, all are gone now but my wife would like to get and ride with our other couple friends who ride can am x3. My fear with this unit seems like everything is tricky like access to the secondary air filter. Your thoughts. Thank you again Mike.

      Hey Mike, I've done all the break-in services for my '24, I just haven't posted all the videos yet. Servicing the YXZ is an absolute breeze compared to the RMAX. The ONLY reason why this first service was a PITA is because Hercules installed the oil filter. If it were installed hand tight, I would not have had to go through the headache of using an oil filter wrench and at most maybe used a rubber grippy thing you use to open lids off glass containers. I've already pulled the foam filter to look at it, but haven't looked at removing the plated paper one. It seems like it wouldn't be too bad since the wheel well opening is generous. I'll try and do a video on it though. The only other maintenance item that may be tricky is lubricating the front and rear driveshaft splines. Front and rear gearboxes look like they'll have to be dismounted (but not removed) to provide enough clearance to remove the shafts. I've heard of guys using a grease needle but I plan on replacing the stock Polyurea grease with Tinkseal so I can extend servicing these to say 3K miles instead of every 600.

    Have an idea how about a K&N oil filter

    Just noticed that the title of the video is a 1000r but it looks like you have paddle shifters which makes it the 1000 SS version which is a automatic transmission vs the manual r model, is there a difference in trans fluid from a base r model to the SS

      I have the YXZ 1000R SS XTR. Both the 3 speed manual and Sport Shift are still YXZ 1000Rs. The SS designates Sport Shift and XTR is a trim package.
      I purposely left the title as 'YXZ 1000R' for search algorithms and the transmission fluid and filter service applies to both the 3 pedal and the Sport Shift models, and yes they both use the same fluid

    Did you look at the transmission screen?
    Where is it located?

    • @MassiveOverkill
      @MassiveOverkill  8 месяцев назад +1

      No I didn't I believe the old transmission screen is still in the original place but I don't feel the need to check it with the new spin-on oil filter as it's redundant.

      @@MassiveOverkill yeah makes sense. But since im doing the 1st services i figured it be worth checking.
      i found a diagram, but it isnt clear on which side. Driver or passenger. Do you happen to know?

      It's more front/rear and is on the rear of the housing. You can see at ruclips.net/video/hMw4e-mqiLo/видео.htmlsi=TocXmn4SnJL5YTld&t=562 there's a black plug on the right side.

      My filter looked EXACTLY like yours after removal, mangled. I tried everything you tried and no luck. I didn't have the yamaha tool (I have ordered it since) but was too far into it to give up. I used a band clamp around the filter with the adjustment screw angled at the top. I used a pair of channel locks, the top jaw on the screw and the bottom jaw on the filter. There was just enough room to get it loose. I was thanking God when it finally loosened up. You are correct, they find the strongest person alive to tighted the filters. So unnecessary. Atleast I have the proper tool for next time. I'm loving my 2024 so far!
