Thank you very much for this lesson, its important to back to the basis sometimes. If you can do lesson about written expression and oral expression too that's be very good. I have my first interview for job where they seek a worker that know english and i know you thanks your video about the most popular questions in intervew. I'm very excited and stressed.. Best wishes
Thanks for your comment and best of luck for your interview! I can understand that you would be stressed but simply do your best and try to enjoy the experience. Whatever the result, an experience like that could help you for other difficult situations in English in the future. All the best, Chris.
Hi Samson, thanks for your comment. I've actually been working on another video just like this one with a man from London and I posted it today: ruclips.net/video/q1ZJVKe56oc/видео.html Cheers, Chris.
Hello Chris. in the sentence 'I have the bigger bedroom" (j'ai la plus grande chambre = j'ai la chambre la plus grande" why use the comparative instead of the superlative? Cheers
Hi Cecile, good question. I would personally say, 'the biggest bedroom' as you suggested but I think Donna here could use either as she is comparing two bedrooms so the comparative also works. If it was a three bedroom apartment then the superlative would be the only correct answer.
If I understand correctly, if there are two things, we use the comparative and more than two things, we use the superlative. Thanks for your very clear explanation, because I thought I had to review the rule 💇♀. I am relieved. your videos are great. I regularly make themes and versions of your stories and when I make a mistake I like to understand it and do not start another lesson until I have understood my mistake. Thank you for your help. Cheers
Yes, you have understood correctly. What a dedicated learner you are with your system. I wish my students at school were as applied in their learning as you are!
Thanks you very much. as I'm retired, I have all the time in the world to learn and I love it. Every Saturday I meet friends in a café for English conversation over a drink. We have a good time and laugh a lot. Cheers
Hi Cécile. No 'guys' is certainly not essential in this conversation but it is a very common way of talking about friends with English speakers. It's best translated with 'les gars/les copains' depending on the sentence. Examples: I'm going to the pub with the guys. Would you guys like to come around to my house for a barbecue? etc It's definitely a casual/slang term and something that I used to say all the time (with friends/family/work colleagues etc) before I started teaching in France 16 years ago.....then I tried to stop saying it with my classes as it's not 'correct' English but it is good to know!
Thank you Chris. I also noted that in this case “guys” comes between you and the verb. and especially not to use it if I am speaking with a president or a king. Just with my close friends and family.
I'll make a note of it in my theme. Thanks so much for your valuable advice. May I ask you a question : to say the number of people in a family should we say "there are five of us in my family or we are five in my family"? Cheers
@@cecilegoupil7371 This is another great example of interchangeable phrases. Both are 100% correct. For me personally I'd probably say the first one but the second is also perfect.

Hello Chris: What does "Guys" mean in the second sentence? Why guys? Is it essential to say it? cheers. Cécile

Hello Chris. Instead of saying " my flat is probably about 25mns WALK from... can we say "my flat is probably 25mns ON FOOT from..."
Absolutely Cécile. That's a perfect replacement. Me personally I'd probably use 'walk', but 'on foot' is also correct. Cheers.
