That's impressive. I basically have the same A/C on my van. I didn't think I could run it with a Honda 2000. I need to find someone who owns one so I can test. Thanks for this info.
I had a smaller window unit that I used in the past until I realized I could use the big roof top AC. Some AC units may need more watts to start the compressor but my factory AC does fine. The new Hondas are rated even more power at 2200 watts Thanks!
I think some AC models must pull too many amps when the compressor kicks in and will stall out the EU2000. Maybe this model AC has a bigger capacitor for the initial surge.
Keith, do You think leaving Your extension cord in a coil as was the case from Your Generator to Your Trailer electrical hook up causes a magnetic field. When I was in Auto Mechanics school many years ago we taught that it would on DC current. To prove that it did We would wind some coils of wire around a Screwdriver shaft and the touch the positive and negative terminals of a battery and it would magnetize the Screwdriver where we could pick up another metal object. Enjoy Your video's.
Magnetic fields can be generated with AC or DC voltage but pretty sure there's nothing to be concerned about in this case. We had similar lab experiments years ago in electronic class. Did you become an Auto Mechanic as a profession? Thanks!
@@geenote I went to work in the Auto Parts Business right after graduation from High School. Then I went to Auto Mechanics School. When I got out of Auto Mechanics School a New Car dealer wanted Me to be His Parts Mgr. Later on started My own Auto parts Business and covered 12 Midwestern States for 46 Years. Most sales were to New Car Dealers or Industry. Loved every minute of it.
Impressive, and how long were you able to run it for? The AC unit? Did it do any damage to your generator or air conditioning unit? I was seriously just about to list my EU 2000i to buy a 3000 to run my same RV AC unit that you have.
I run it for an hour of two at a time and shut it down. I don't need it at night and don't hang out in the camper much during the day. I was using a smaller window AC set up until I realized the generator would run the bigger roof AC. No damage to anything. A 3000 would be nice so you can run multiple things but it's big and heavy. Thanks!
Yes that was the setting I left it on in the video - high cool with the fan on high and the thermostat cranked up. I used to use a small window AC until I realized the generator would run the rooftop AC.
I think most AC units this size will overload the Honda. I make sure all electrical items are off and generator is running with "eco" mode off when first turning the AC on. After the AC starts, I can turn the Honda "eco" mode on. I also crank the thermostat on the AC all the way up so the compressor doesn't cycle on/off while in "eco" mode.
Yes. I camp in the mountains where it is cool at night so I have never ran it 8 hours continuous - only a few hours to get things cooled down before night. The generator will run around 8 hours at low rpm in "eco throttle" mode which is where I set it after start up.
So going to try this for cruising the coast this October in Bay Saint Louis Ms.
Thanks, I sure hope this makes my decision easier.
Go ahead and get the newer Honda 2200i model with blue tooth you won't be disappointed. Bigger is always better.
Hard to beat a Honda. New one is even more power.

Been doing this for years with my Honda EU 2000. My trailer has a 30amp plug. I use a 30amp dog bone that runs into a 115 volt plug.

Nice. I like the old muscle cars.
Good to know, thanks.
You bet! Thanks!

Sweet, thanks Keith I’m gonna hang onto my 2000 and give it a try. Cheers
That’s awesome did you ever try to put it on hi cooling with the hi fan setting?

My ac kicks out the Honda immediately

how long does it last on a fool tank?
Around 8 hours.
@@geenote ty so much bro wow
