"Inert" and "Beaten" are my favorite tracks of the album. I really like the part were you delve into ritualistic territories. This kind of metal is a really good fit for that kind of stuff !
Love the ominous and crushing feel to it l,also I read In a interview you are a big fan of ulcerate particular Everything is fire...a cover would be awsome !!!
Just got into this on Bandcamp. Did NOT know you played an Ormsby! Awesome stuff. Really mind bending and a rewarding way, and still heavy as all hell.
I fuckin love you dude, the latest album is a total masterpiece! I need a hard copy, fav track: Relent, it's just pure chaos and so many emotions, but the whole thing fuckin' rules!
such heavy but catchy riffs your truly expanding and the death metal genre man. how can i get anything close to this TOAN tho, its so tight and articulate.
I ordinarily play in AEADGBE. For the album this is taken from that tuning is raised a semitone (Bb F Bb Eb Ab C F), and for this song the Ab is dropped back down to G. It's to make the interval between the 3rd and 4 string into a major third instead of a fourth, and when played as a barre chord across the 4th 3rd and 2nd strings you form a Maj6 chord. I did it to simplify the main motif of this song, but I've since started writing others in this tuning for similar interval relationship reasons.
It's a first-run Ormsby Goliath. I didn't really like it very much, in the end. Could never get it to play comfortably, so I sold it. I also had to drill into it to modify where the output jack sat (it's normally on the rear of the guitar around where my belly button would be in this video). I do like headless guitars, but they absolutely feel different. I've got a Kiesel Osiris now that I think is probably the best headless thing I've played (or at leas the most perfect for my tastes), I just wish it didn't say Kiesel on it.
@@BrendanSloan how does the playability of a multiscale fretboard compare to your regular fretboard angles? always wondered that with this kind of guitars...
While i'm pretty sure that this song is in 1/2 step down I think (as an exemple) that the track "Beaten" is in a lower tuning, you can tell by the riff at 06:50, the lower note are .. well, very low, lower than what a Bb string would give. and a couple of song in Errata seems do be in Drop D or something. But an official answer from Brendan himself would be the most correct answer :)
@Sadistic Inori / @necrolifts both kind of wrong, I'm afraid! Here's the cliff notes: Errata and Engraved are both A E A D G B E on a 7 string. First and last songs on Grievous are F C F Bb Eb G C (C standard with a low F) and 2/3/4 were written on the guitar I use for Dumbsaint (my Mayones Regius), which is tuned Bb F Bb Eb Ab C F (a semitone up to F standard, with a low Bb). Vektor also tune up to F, I found out later. I did it out of laziness, so that I wouldn't have to tune a six string down to Bb to play in that band when I joined 5 years ago. This song is Bb F Bb Eb G C F. Or if you like think of it as AEAD Gb BE but half a step up. *shrug*
Easiest way to explain is: AEADGBE, then tune the G down to Gb. When I play Grievous stuff live it's like that. My standard tuning is AEADGBE. On the actual album everything is one step higher. Bb F Bb Eb Ab C F (like putting a capo on first fret), and for Were the Ab goes back down to G. Hope that helps.
Grievous is one of the best DM releases of the year. You're a hidden gem, my dude.
DM? XDDD

going to try and learn this from the video. did you happen to write a tab for this version at all?
What guitar is that? Not usually a fan of headless guitars but that one looks slick af

absolutely awesome. standard tuning?
Bb Eb Ab Db Gb Bb Eb I think
@necrolifts he use different tuning actually, depend of the song
