I have three H1-B's. I drove mine around Southern California for five years. It has Denco pipes, 34 MM Mikunis and I hand ported it. I could keep up with my buddy's six cylinder Honda til about 120 MPH, then the cubic inches took over, big time!
My father owns a 69, 2 70s a 71 and a 72 back in New Zealand🇳🇿 when I lived back their in the 90s I had a 78 Bonnie and going from my 78 Triumph to one of his H1s was beautiful I found the Kwakas so smooth and of course more powerful… He still owns them to this day he’s had them near 40yrs and rides them regularly… Thanks for the uploads🙏🏾🙏🏾 they bring back great memories…. My favourite one to ride was his blue 71 triple I can’t explain why It just seemed to fit me better than the other 4 and better than my Bonnie…

I 'ad me a '75 one of thesers and it 'ad great front brakes, Mate. You gotta get yer spanners out and bleed the old coffee out the bleedin' brake circuit and Bob's yer uncle, innit?. And if yer foulin' plugs like a git, you gotta adjust yer oil injection pump. You know you're riding it right when you pull the front wheel up in the first 3 gears.
Thanks for ridding it the way it's supposed to be ridden. I bought a blue one when the ship I was on(Kitty Hawk) pulled in to Yokosuka Japan back in the seventies.
Did a deal when I was 19 ended up with an H1B, double discs, alloy rims, 19" wheels front and rear (same as TT bike) and nickle plated frame, hell it was fast for the time, but never handled bad or fluffed plugs. Great video really caught the character of these bikes...load of old gits on bikes lol.
I bought this exact bike new from a Southern California dealer for about $750- it was quiet, smooth, and powerful. Not as crazy as my brother's earlier H1 (the original blue one), which was a dog until 4,000 then you could literally be pulled off the seat. It was my second bike, the first being a slightly used R5 in orange/white (dumb luck to buy such a great bike with no experience). I ran the 500 for about 5 years with one memorable speed wobble at night down a long curve on a grade at about 100, and a few 12.5 quarter miles at Irwindale's public night- one of the original drag tracks up near the San Gabriels, and a totally blinded pass of a semi-trailer one night in a heavy rain returning from the North- I just couldn't stand drowning back behind it anymore. I added a tooth to the drive sprocket for the trip, and it would run 75-80 easy on the road.
Ha cool , they are a bit more expensive now compared to then ! Great to hear people Memories about these classics , thanks for you comment , appreciate it :)

We had a blue one three roads down from where I lived in the early 70s. You wouldn't believe how much smoke it made when it cold started in the morning on his way to work. Possibly something to do with the old spark plugs or how he had the auto-lube set - but for whatever reason that bike had a serious smoking habit first thing. I knew his younger brother and he told me he was a speed demon on it and had been caught travelling through a neighbouring village at 80mph. 😂😂
Ha awesome ,They do smoke a lot , when we go out and there’s a few of us on them it must look like a steam train is coming down the road.. and if your at the back you get covered in 2stroke 😂
The blue one and it's predecessor, the white one's (1969-1971) motors were tuned differently- NO low end torque at all, but a rocket ship at 6,000. The power came on so strong, like an afterburner. I was sliding back on the seat and scared me badly! I think Kawasaki did some adjustments after those years- too much smoke and too many fatalities! I bought the 1972 orange new- loved it, and survived.
Love it !. I own a 1971 build (72 model) H2 750. I can see the difference; as the H2 has much more "oomph !!!" smoother; bigger bike. All good !!!. Please test a Yamaha RD 350 air cooled . Would LOVE to see that !!!!!

Hello, I always kept the steering damper at " Full Loose ". Always. Traded the rear shocks for Konis with dual rate springs. for this model. It cured the intermittent speed wobble. Had throttle intensity was increased and shifts made quick the front wheel should be lifting at 70+ m.p.h. while shifting into third gear. The 1971 models had the more high-tech ignition. I kept mine for thirty-two years. In 1971 I paid $ 1134.37 for the quickest of all, cheapest motorcycle available. They were the first bikes to achieve the nomenclature " Superbike ". Ha wow thanks , some great information and insight into what to do with these bikes , wow that was a long time to own the bike , what made you sell it after all those years ?
@@ProjectMoto Hello, I was moving to do long term camping, thus losing my garage. Found a fellow that was really interested in the bike. After about a year, I purchased a miniature motocross bike. A " Genuine Flywing " that was made in China. It had a 110 c.c. copy of a Honda S-90 engine. I rode it all over the wagon roads in the area of central Arizona that I was camped in. It was a good bike and impressed me by lasting so long. " Hey! "
These bikes are still dangerously fast. Mine ran in the low 13's at the dragstrip w/ just 50 miles on it. The acceleration was in the supercar category of the day. The handling was dangerous also, it had a bit of a front fork wobble at 130 mph.
Yeah they still don’t go to bad even today and back in the day they were a game changer , handling and brakes stand out even more dangerous when you ride them today but that’s just because things have moved on so much now
You should let him ride the tuned 750 and you can both ride to the Chinese Chippy together. Get your cash ready. Love every single vlog, keep up the absolutely fantastic work! Thanks for everything.
Great video! Do love the 2 strokes. Any x7’s or RD400’s in Paul’s garage? They were before my time so the best I managed was an NS125 with a Stan Stevens pipe…… I had 100 on the clock going downhill on the A12 at Hatfield Peverel….. nobody ever believes me (but it was during the the 1987 October storm 😃, with the wind behind me) Maybe a stroker would go well somewhere mild in the next month or so 😃
Ha a good bit of wind behind always helps a little bike.. I did my test on a ns125 :) .. actually I do know someone who has an RD400, I’m sure he’ll let me do a video n it :) and yeah about 3 weeks time I would love to take a 2 stroke somewhere milder the here 😉
I had a 500 from the last year. It was 44 lbs heavier with 8 hp less than the earlier ones, but still went. I never had problems with fouling spark plugs. Is the oil injection set right? It had no power below 4000 rpms but came on quickly. Not enough gas and it bogged. and too much and it stood up straight. I found a sweet stop for me. I would lay over the tank, rev up the engine and when the tach hit 4000 I would release the clutch so it would fully engage by 6000 rpms. The rear tire would spin for about 10 feet and the front end would come up about 6 inches and you are off and flying. The brakes seemed fine to me (compared to contemporaries) and the handling was adequate.
Ha That’s great , yeah funny how every bike you ride you have to learn how to ride it and get the best out of it, when you get on different bikes for the fist time there a lot you have to work out , I think the brakes and handling were ok for back then, it’s just what you get used to now that really highlights them, great bikes though and very interesting to ride
Yeah they are great… because unfortunately some people want to save the environment and they don’t want Smokey old 2 stroke engines about… these people obviously hate having fun !
Again superb video! Wow what a lovely bike, letting you out on it, Paul must really like and trust you 😜 as I mentioned on your previous video on the H2, I had an H1 in the seventies, such iconic bike even back in the day, so I know exactly where Paul is coming from! Unbelievably before my H1 I had an RD250 also great watch, I put 350 barrels, heads and pistons on as it was a straight swap (nobody could work out why my 250 was so quick) 🤣 So again thank you so so much for my trip down memory lane.......the sound, everything. I survived one of those diabolical things. Same color too. It would wheelie in every gear with just a throttle twist. It spent a summer trying to kill me.
Another mint Vlog lad's, and Paul's bikes are feckin class. The weather ain't too shabby either, when was this recorded? Wish we had sun in Northern Ireland.
It's a disc brake in front. The disc must be overheated/ glazed up from a dragging caliper. I wonder how many forks were bent and twisted from doing wheelies
You think those brakes are bad. My Kawasaki S2 350 had twin leading shoes on the FRONT. Put racing shoes in once. First time I braked with them, my pillion ended up in my lap. If you didn’t keep braking hard they glazed up. 😊

As is often shouted in unison upon the streets of Kyoto, Japan: " Hey! "

" Hey! "
I never had any issues with plugs on mine- one road trip into Canada was 5,000 miles, and it never missed a beat.
Thanks, appreciate it, glad you are enjoying the videos.. ha il let Paul take the cash… he’s got more money then me :)
Great bike, great vid. Love the banter, subscribed👍
Thanks , plenty more video like it on the channel, glad you enjoyed it, appreciate it :)
Lovely Disc... thats a f**kin cool bike! Emotional...😉
Thanks brother ,It’s such a cool looking bike .. remember when I was 6’2 and 18 stone .. I’m just getting smaller mate with age 😂😂
Great video! Do love the 2 strokes.
Any x7’s or RD400’s in Paul’s garage? They were before my time so the best I managed was an NS125 with a Stan Stevens pipe…… I had 100 on the clock going downhill on the A12 at Hatfield Peverel….. nobody ever believes me (but it was during the the 1987 October storm 😃, with the wind behind me)
Maybe a stroker would go well somewhere mild in the next month or so 😃
Ha a good bit of wind behind always helps a little bike.. I did my test on a ns125 :) .. actually I do know someone who has an RD400, I’m sure he’ll let me do a video n it :) and yeah about 3 weeks time I would love to take a 2 stroke somewhere milder the here 😉
Excellent vlog! ...love to see the tuned 750 H2!
Thanks , Im looking forward to riding it.. it’s such a cool looking bike too :)
Cool video. Let’s see the tuned 750.
Thanks … here’s the tuned 750 video ruclips.net/video/9GX1gtx6iLg/видео.htmlsi=LJBnVFwIi5vKeD_q
Love the 2 stroke street bikes! Wonder why they stopped making them?
Yeah they are great… because unfortunately some people want to save the environment and they don’t want Smokey old 2 stroke engines about… these people obviously hate having fun !
Love to see the 750
Thanks.. cause I’d love to ride it … here’s one of Paul’s other 750’s we did a video on
ruclips.net/video/V-CfBA-XwYg/видео.html
Again superb video! Wow what a lovely bike, letting you out on it, Paul must really like and trust you 😜 as I mentioned on your previous video on the H2, I had an H1 in the seventies, such iconic bike even back in the day, so I know exactly where Paul is coming from! Unbelievably before my H1 I had an RD250 also great watch, I put 350 barrels, heads and pistons on as it was a straight swap (nobody could work out why my 250 was so quick) 🤣
So again thank you so so much for my trip down memory lane.......the sound, everything.
Will defo pop in from Norwich one day very soon, thanks again and keep up the great work!
I don’t know about trusting me on it.. he probably felt more pressured to let me ride it 😂😂 was always good tuning your bike back in the day :) yeah if there’s one thing Paul likes talking about is classic H1’s and H2’s he knows his stuff.. thanks and Happy New Year
Happy, Great & Prosperous New year to you. Simply love your ProjectMoto work.......so interesting and brilliantly put together, stunning!👍
Again thank you, will definitely pop in for a full English and hopefully pick up a T Shirt on my way through Chelmsford very soon.
@@Steve-uf8pk thanks, really appreciate it , see you at the shop :)
Lots of fun to watch! Can't wait until I can drive my S2 triple again, where is the spring?
Thanks, glad you enjoyed it, yeah I’m looking forward for the better weather to come, roll on spring!
Take care of that S2. It is more important now than you might think.
Take care of that S2. It is more important now than you might think.
@@davidmacphee3549 Yes, I will. They are getting rare, and my bike still has the original paint, seat and the most parts (in good nick). Cant be many in that state now.
Iam currently building a h1 500. Stock ish looking. Looking forward to starting it next year
Awesome , they are a very cool and interesting bike to ride, also a great thing to do building it and getting it back on the the road
@@ProjectMoto exsactly. Die hards need to keep those old bike a live. They definately have cool / street value i think contrary to a modern plastic bike.
Plus, Its from a time where the world was not so restricted. Cigaret es and 2 strokes and dont giving a flying, need to remember that 😁😉
@@htothejay yeah definitely mate , they were from a very special time , still so cool today :)
Brilliant, get the tuned one out 👌
Ha Thanks.. I think he’s bringing it in in the next few weeks… we’ve had a long, long… long winter!! Roll on the good weather
Get that 750 in we really need to see it 🎉
Thanks… I’m looking forward to riding it, it looks so cool as well :)
I survived one of those diabolical things. Same color too. It would wheelie in every gear with just a throttle twist. It spent a summer trying to kill me.
Ha you survived one 😂😂yeah they like to try and kill you every time you go out .. they are certainly interesting to ride
I had a red one here in the US. I loved that bike and regret ever selling it.
Nice , but back then you didn’t think about it changing your bikes .. I have a few I regret selling for sure.. well tbh nearly all of them 😂
Would LOVE to see the tuned 750….❤
Thanks, yeah the tuned 750 is so nice , can’t wait to ride it :)
A very fine Bike❤
Thanks :)
Another mint Vlog lad's, and Paul's bikes are feckin class. The weather ain't too shabby either, when was this recorded? Wish we had sun in Northern Ireland.
Thanks, the wether has not been too bad really.. was filmed a little while ago but it’s been ok up until this last week… now it’s cold and wet :(
It's a disc brake in front. The disc must be overheated/ glazed up from a dragging caliper. I wonder how many forks were bent and twisted from doing wheelies
Tuned 750 ride is a must please fanks very much? 😁👌🏻👍🏻
Looking forward to riding it, it’s such a cool looking bike too :)
You think those brakes are bad. My Kawasaki S2 350 had twin leading shoes on the FRONT. Put racing shoes in once. First time I braked with them, my pillion ended up in my lap. If you didn’t keep braking hard they glazed up. 😊
Ha wow , Yeah brakes we’re definitely different back then , we are spoiled today with how good they are now
124 if thrown from a plane 😂 harsh. I like it. Looks mint. Jade looks pretty mint too! 🔥
Yeah maybe a little bit harsh 😂😂 yeah looks good .. the bike and Jade 😂
Very nice
Thanks, awesome bike :)
On the first kick nice bike
Yeah , pretty cool for a 50 yeah old bike 😎
I always started mine with a slap of my hand. I hardly ever used my foot.
First try every time, then I would put my other glove on just to show off, in case anybody noticed. LOL
We’d always free the clutch plates up with half a dozen kicks, 99.9% of the time they’d all fire up first kick…
Does he have an early H1 with the front drum brake?
Yeah he has an early H1a with the drum brake.. he’s actually got a H1 a,b,d and f !!
@@ProjectMoto I hope you can ride them all :)
@@Freimopp777 so do I :)
Brilliant as ever guys😂👍
Thanks, glad you enjoyed it :)
Let him ride the seven fiddy Paul ffs! Good to see Jade again, ooooooooooft!
Thanks , the tuned one is so nice .. and always good to see Jade :)
❤❤❤ Its beautiful 🥰 80s bike Love it
Yeah what a gorgeous bike 😎
Hi great movie very nice ride ;)
Thanks, glad you enjoyed it :)
I OWNED ONE 1972 I was racing with The Porsches in haiways in germany ❤
Ha awesome , they were quick bikes back then, they are still great to ride today
Disappointed H1b down on power or needs hotter plugs barely noticed power band plus giving it large in 2nd that shuda been nearly vertical. Brakes ? Try the early drum version
Ha, Yeah it does wheelie, you know this is my mates 50 year old bike.. and it’s edited to what I can actually show here on RUclips … but sorry you was disappointed with the video .. but I have loads more videos if your looking for more disappointment :)
@@ProjectMoto lol cheers get Ur point 😂 mine was a 25 mpg but all things 2 up bolt upright indicated into 3 figures loved it on the old TT 100's .Mates kettle just had the top end on me 😕
LOL, we had Jet Helmets in the 70's 😄
Yes........
Yes 😎🔥💪 :)
If in doubt!! Get the tuned 750 out 😉 oh yer boy….
The 750 looks so cool as well.. can’t wait to ride it :)
こんにちは😊
渋いH1Bですね!オイルのいい匂いがしそうです❤
yeah that's one of the best bits of the Bike :) ..こんにちは..はい、油のにおいがします..それは最高の部分の1つです
750 too please
Thanks … the tuned 750 is so nice :)
Tuned 750 please🙏
Ha that sounds like me to Paul everyday 😂 can’t wait to ride it
Two grown men talking a load of bollocks about sausages. good grief!
But you got away with it because everybody loves Kawasakis, especially the old 2 strokes.
Good video!
Thanks.. tbh most watch our chats rather then the bikes 😂😂 but as long as people like the videos and for whatever reason people like them then that’s good with me :)
Get the h2 out next
I think he is bringing it in tomorrow… maybe I can get a ride :)
Let him ride the tuned 750 👍😉
Thanks .. can’t wait to ride it , the 760 looks so cool as well :)
Excuse Sirs, while I thank you for posting a emotional video about a such myth like Kawasaki 500 me,coming from a modest school teaching English Language , have some problems to fully understand your pronunciation so, just you for my curiosity and in the hope to do not offend anyone, would like to know in which country the video was filmed. Thanks for your attention and please, accept my congrats for the job you made. It gave me moving emotions involving my youth. Thanks again for your attention.
Thanks , and glad you enjoyed the video.. don’t worry you are not the first with problems understanding us … the country is England .. we are English ! Obviously accents are different all over the country .. we are in Essex , we are from east London and Essex
That Kawasaki howl is epic 😁👍👍👍👍👍
Yeah it’s awesome when your riding them … such an awesome sound 😎
One of the first things I will buy when I win the lottery.
Mate there’s a long list of bikes I would have if I won the lottery.. most of them 2 stroke :)
Ride the 750!
Thanks, really looking forward to riding it, I’m the tuned one looks so cool too 😎
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
😎😎😎
😂let him on the 750 😊
Thanks, the tuned one is so nice 👌
Cool bike , but with all due respect I can’t understand much of what the man is saying , and compared to a modern bike it’s a moped 😂 I had a Ducati Diavel and it would smoke it and the 750 H1 as well as the Z1
Ha don’t worry your not the first and I have trouble understanding myself 😂 oh yeah for sure , compared to modern bikes they are terrible.. but it’s a feeling 😎
Let him ride the 750.
Thanks mate .. the tuned one looks so cool as well :)
@@ProjectMoto only started riding in 2009 so don't recall the Kawasakis from that era but they look so special, Cheers projectmoto.
YOU CANNOT BUILD A BIKE THAT HAS TREMENDOUS ACCELERATION & SPEED ON DRUM BRAKES AND NOT HAVE IT HANDLE IN TURNS , ITS OUTRIGHT SUICIDE !!! ANY OF THE BIKE MANUFACTURERS NEED TO UNDERSTAND THIS CLEARLY IN 2023 !!!
Yeah but back then it was just how it was, I think manufacturers know that now and modern bikes are so much better but riding something like this now is quite an experience and very special :)
Double disc on the front and it will be just fine. I rode like a maniac as a pup on drums and lived to tell about it.
@@PaulShaw-ex7ri CAN YOU IMAGINE AN H2 500 cc / 900 cc TRIPLES ON DRUM BRAKES ???? EARLY TECHNOLOGY, KAWI , YAMI , SUZI , THEY ALL KNEW BY 73 IT WAS TIME FOR DISC BRAKES TO STOP THESE POCKET ROCKETS 🚀!!!!
The 50 year old electrics are better than your modern Italian pish electrics,
Better then modern Ducatis.. I don’t know about that but the lights do still work I guess 😂
Let him ride the 750
Thanks, Yeah looking forward to riding it, the tuned looks so cool as well :)
Paintwork is not original! Decals on the tank are not in the correct place...
Ok.. I don’t know much about them.. bit early for me :)
Tuned 750 😂😂😂😂.
Thanks . Can’t wait :)
Purchased a new one in 2/72, absolutely worse bike I've owned.
Brill but too long.
Oh thanks .. We all like different kind of videos .. hard to choose what to keep in and leave out
Jesus. English and bad teeth. Great vid on the 500.
Where was Jesus ?? Thanks
ha my little 200 rd yamaha was faster and handled better than this death trap!
I guess it depends on who’s ridding the bikes when racing about … but yeah the handlings not the best 😂
I want to buy one
They are such a cool looking classic bike.. the engine, the sound , the smell of the 2 stroke.. awesome :)
ace
Thanks :)
Me like!
Thanks :)
@@ProjectMoto me had one back in the 1970's wish I still had it!
