Hi Jerry ,,I once lived in guasti in the late 60,s I hate to think of it being torn down as there is still a lot of history there the beautiful old rock winery building still could be restored ,,I know a lot about guasti village and there,s a cemetery there it's hard to find now as it,s been so long ago ,,there were still some grape vineyards when I was there and they were good ,,my heart just breaks to find out that what is left of the village is going to be destroyed ,,I am thinking of writing a complete book about guasti village and at least there will be a bit of it,s history around for people to learn about,,thank,s for all of your videos ,I sure enjoy them ,,,good bye old guasti village ,,love you and miss you
Back in the 70's my friend Pete and I used to ride our bikes down to Guasti, we lived near Vineyard and Fourth. back then the road used to loop around the end of the Runway of Ontario Airport used to watch the planes land and takeoff we were both Aviation nerds, (I joined the Air Force after High School) In the 80's there used to be a Restaurant sorry forgot the name of it but they used to serve giant pancakes that covered the plate. I just hope they do something historical and not put up a bunch of warehouses like the rest of the IE. I have been watching Fontana's rural areas turn into warehouse districts.
My uncle worked in guasti back in the 70s he said he used to go to that grocery store and get beers and drink them by the lake because the owners of the guasti mansion would let the people who worked in the area hang out by the lake (which was their private property at the time) after work
Hello Jerry .. yes it is disappointing and very sad. Our Grandfather worked and stayed in those bungalows back in the mid 40’s 50’s as a laborer from Mexico named Antonio Gonzalez. This was our start of our family ending up in Upland and we’ve been in upland since that time when our Grandfather was able to bring his family to California and purchased his first home on campus just past 13th then later purchased a home in which we still own near Downtown upland. Atleast we got the chance to do some wine tasting and visit the old mansion back I believe 15 years ago. Thanks for sharing.
For anyone curious what happened to the restaurant there, it was actually called Guast Restaurant - I was fortunate enough to visit there once with my brother and sister and it was great food and massive sized pancackes (which they were famously known for) After Guasti area was closed, the restaurant relocated to Chino Off Central Ave. between Schafer and Chino Ave maitaining it's original name. However, with the Pandemic and strict rules on dining, Guasti Restaurant could not sustain and closed as a result of the pandemic, so RIP great restaurant :(
So sad I loved visiting relatives back then it was a beautiful little community I actually went to that little store and I got the opportunity to eat at the restaurant 😕if I was a millionaire I wold bring guasti back 😕
My uncle owned the store in the corner, we would visit my uncle and aunt and our cousins almost every weekend. I loved that spooky old town. We kids had the run of the place back in the seventies. One time we had a game of hide and go seek using the whole town! It breaks my heart to see that almost all the history has been erased.
Im a UPS driver in Ontario and I remember delivering to the post office and the few furniture warehouses that were still there in thecearly 2000's. The restaurant that was there also had a wine brunch that was super fancy. There was a really good breakfast spot there also where a bunch of us drivers would meet there on friday mornings.
I've been there , many times , went to high school with the owners daughters. Air plane watching was cool, saw the Concorde land but you had to be aware of the llrumors
I hate the Ontario planning department I use to live on state and in between grove and bon view we felt force to sell out property because everyone had left the neighborhood and supposeably Ontario was going to expand the airport well it’s been about 15 yrs or so and nothing has happen !!!!!😡😡😡😡😡😡 Ontario planning department does not know how it hurt us family members people that lived there to move out money is always priority to City but never worrying about there communities some of the old neighbors were upset too because they left behind good memories just like me .
I hope you’re being fascetious. Affordable housing is exactly what should be done. Why any group thought Ontario needed another shopping center is beyond me.

That is sad. Guasti looked like a neat little community. Thank you for not throwing the city under the bus on this one. 🙂
That store in Guasti CA my Aunt and Uncle owned it that's so nice ur telling the story I loved being in Guasti when I was young

GREED!! No respect for history. Thanks for another excellent and informative video Jerry.

That outline of the body was crazy
I randomly was thinking about this place, many good memories here eating those huge pancakes as a kid. So sad nothing good last 😭

Hello Jerry, can you tell me if that BBQ place on Euclid, Bank building will ever open or is this another Gusti. Thank you love your videos.
I was married at the mansion in 1990 a wunnerful place well managed and really really clean
I used to live in one of those bungalows
My grandparents house was in Guasti
Oh yeah, they filmed an episode of the Bionic Woman there!
I really didn't like that basement that was scary that was a beautiful store and living house wow my Aunt and Uncle had it nice
I've been there , many times , went to high school with the owners daughters. Air plane watching was cool, saw the Concorde land but you had to be aware of the llrumors
Such memories growing up. What a waste destroying the history. Save the mansion.
It's good to see that the church is still surviving.
I swear if I hit the jackpot any time soon I will restore a lot of its historical value rebuilt the bungalows and make them in to air bnbs
I heard about this place from the hot Cheetos movie
Save Guasti
Jerry who owned it befor it was bought?
First
So sad to see this area demolished 🥲 so much history gone. Thanks for the update!!!!

Meant , yorona (crying lady)
So sad, hopefully another developer buys it soon and does something great 🤞🏻🙏🏻
Sad. All of this in the name of “progress”
Maybe someone will ruin it with “affordable” housing
The bungalows would have been perfect had they been renovated instead of allowed to decay.
