Note that there's no need to overkill to cause an explosion: it's only that the whole attack (all weapons together) have to do at least 3 damage. So if a ship has a single hull left and you plink it with one damage, the plink isn't enough to cause an explosion.
Me and a friend started to get into this last year and managed a few slow games tto get the rules down, do you feel these will be quicker or slower than last edition to get your head around? Presuming we retained no knowledge of last edition and we're looking with fresh eyes?
The big difference with Launch Assets vs. BFG is that BFG launch was broadly faster than the ships of their fleets, the DFC 2.0 launch assets are slower than most ships!
Im VERY glad they got rid/vastly simplified the whole Orbit nonsense.
It says, that Bombers move in any direction. So, you CAN avoid micro meteors and debris fields. There is just no turning during their movement.

That’s the justification for ships like the Baleares, right? Fast carriers still matter?
