The sticker from EM is slightly bigger than when comparing to the Ecto-1 1984 film. I have added a reduced version on my site.... both vinyl and decal options.
The trick to placing a sticker is to only pull the backing off partly, align the still backed part correctly, smooth the sticky part on, then remove the rest of the backing and smooth that on.
Yeah, I agree with Paul, I think if you use a similar technique that you used with the carpet mod you did. I believe the sticker can be positioned and attached in a similar fashion. I have the utmost confidence that you'll be able to perform this operation without a problem. You must have confidence in yourself and your abilities my friend, I'm looking forward to your next ecto-1 video. You can do this! 😆
Thanks Wayne for the videos. I have never done a subscription model before and after watching some of the Ecto-1 videos I decided to subscribe and give it a try. I used your link so I hope you get the acknowledgement you deserve for the amazing amount of time and positivity you include in your videos. I am considering the Enterprise-D but want to see how I enjoy Ecto-1 first. Thanks again.
For stickergate; also for vinyl stickers you can use soapy water, de-grease the surface, then spray some soapy water on there and you can slide the sticker into place. When it’s in the right place/position you squishy the water from under you sticker and it’s solid as a house on there.
As a fair number of posters have commented, you can use a bit of soapy water to help position vinyl stickers. I know that this is how Lego now recommend placement of their stickers and it does make precise positioning a lot easier. Having said all that, it will still look like a sticker just due to the thickness, which is a pity on something this expensive.
That's how I put the huge 24 inch Star decal on the hood of my real Jeep (not the toy one). I was able to slide it around and then I squeegeed the water out and it's been riding pretty for 6 months now! But, you know as well as i do, the internet loses their minds when something doesn't go their way! LOL
I don't know if it's because I've applied more than my fare share of stickers on lego bricks but I can't imagine this is gonna be much more different than that. What I would probably do is trace an outline of the door panel on which it will go, then cut out reference sections to attach to the door itself with tape or something and apply the sticker using an xacto knife (not sure I'm explaining this very well). The soapy water trick works too.
I'm loving this build I wish I could afford to build this myself. But I can't wait to see if they can do a mod for the strobes that are supposed to be on the grill.
Hi Wayne, great job so far! It's annoying, although I realise it's sometimes necessary to apply really fragile bits to these kits but then when you know that so much more manhandling needs to be done, which could threaten their survival! The Bismark is a good example, fit all the really fragile superstructure radar stuff etc and then you spend so much time with the thing turned over, yikes! The sticker: A modelling trick or tip is to scan them on to your computer before you do anything! That way you will always have a copy to play with should the unthinkable happen! These can then be reproduced very easily as a decal on special decal film paper. This would work very well on this particular sticker and may actually look better too! The advantage of a decal is that it is thinner and so much easier to position on the model. Great video by the way! Regards JH ;-)
If you look at the decal in the film, look at where the quarterpanel is, you can see the sticker given is larger than what was in the film. I don’t have a huge problem with the sticker in terms of quality, but it is definitely larger than what is movie accurate.
Good Video cannot wait to get to those issues. I am stuck back at issue 8 still ( being shipped currently). Glad the shipments are starting to pick up again and Back issues i had to put on hold till they got back in stock are finally in!! Same problem with the Delorean i had to put issue 37 on hold till it got in stock but im near the Dreaded issue 48 now and all my modz i ordered for the upcoming bulkhead i havent heard an update on since Feb so i am kinda worried there
@@skhou got my cap from the last shipment issue 7 and parts pck 14... i havent had to get a second Binder for the Ecto1. On the Delorean no cap , ive had no problem getting my binders, in fact i am getting a 4th binder on my next delivery. I think the biggest issue i had was the Licsence Plates but i finally got both of them and a extra one in my last delivery. Im also working on the Nissan GTR build, and surprising i ordered that when it was sold out and i havent had any delivery issues whatsoever on it since i started it

Guess ill also add yes i got mad on some phone calls but i did apologize for some arguments on the phone ive hadcwith them. They cant help what the company does as a whole but in the end it is kinda bad business practices
Still waiting for my issue of 21 to arrive with the replacement hood hinge cannot wait to start getting started with all of the other bits looks like the gremlins played you a visit last night lol
Received the wrong trim piece in stage 77. The one that came with mine is the left trim piece not the right, uuugghhh! Now I have to call Eagle Moss and wait for a new one to be sent out.
Yeah on the ecto1 that first issue of the hood and vents and license plate where does that ghostbusters logo sticker goes on does it go on the drivers side door and the other one goes on the passenger side door is that where the sticker goes on
Having now completed these stages, I have noticed some light bleed from the headlights at each side of the bumper. Just wondering if I should paint the backs of the headlight bulbs rather rhan use insulating tape.
That's one cool looking car. By the way there's a Knight Rider car partwork coming out in Japan early next month from Deagostini Japan. I wonder if we'll see in the UK? According to the site it says its releasing 1st June. I'm tempted to pick up the first issue on Amazon Japan when released. It appears to be weekly.
Just reviewing these videos as I should be getting these fairly soon. What Stage did those cross braces behind the headlight assembly come in? I've not seen them in anything that I've gotten so far.
@@WorldofWayneUK Got a reply from the Facebook Group, they come in Stage 69 with the BIG white frame piece. I almost threw them out, those boxes were slated for the recycle bin.
Yeah I wish I kept the plastic on my windshield I already scratched it by putting it upside down on my screwdriver set I could call Eaglemoss up but that was my fault nothing to do with them it’s not too noticeable
Might be a daft question, but how do you open up the hood no it’s attached to the front lights? As you can no longer reach the catch, how does it work? Sorry, I don’t recall seeing anything about it in previous videos or the magazine. Cheers
While I'm initially disappointed that the logo is a separate sticker, I bet folks wanting to mod this to the GB 2 or Afterlife versions of the car are happy to not have to remove the stock no-ghost logo.
i think the sticker looks great i don't see what the complaining is about , cause this way you can have the logo on it just the way you want it , with out having the factory make a mistake when its painted on and then your stuck with it
Just wondering if anyone can help, my bonnet won’t lock into place, it opens & closes ok but it won’t lock so when I turn the car upside down the bonnet flies open :-(
Is that almost all the front end done accept the windscreen wipers? Loving the build as all ways. Stay safe all. P.S i will what till part 80 to say my peace but i will do so respectfully. To all potential younger viewers watching and reading with a over 14year old present.
Hey Wayne, do you know how long eagle moss keeps their models on the site? I want the ECTO-1 Eleanor Mustang and the Nissan GTR but can only get one right now.

When I worked in the sign business we used transfer tape to help put vinyl into position, then soapy water and a squeegee to put it down.

easy way to make sure it's in the right place is to apply some soapy water that way you have some play to get it where you want it then squeegee it.

Yep. It would be a tough toss up between the Delorean or Ecto-1 though
