Ronnie O'Sullivan Concedes Frame When He's Only 23 Points Down (2008 UK Championship)

- Ronnie O'Sullivan misses a pot which had he been playing at his best, would have easily potted, and then petulantly concedes. Joe Perry went on to take the remaining two frames to win the match 9-5 and go through to the quarter-finals.

Thanks. BTW Stephen Hendry was also fined once for conceding a frame when he did not need snookers.
Never heard of that, link? There was never a more ruthless winner on a snooker table than Hendry.
he was trying to hurry the game up, so he can go home and watch snooker, rather than play it
I think that, if I were a spectator, I would have been livid at paying the money.
I think I recall watching this live on TV as it happened, or maybe on a replay close to when it did. I would've been 9 at the time, but I don't think I quite understood the whole conceding of matches, so this seemed more bizarre to me than most.
This was funny. Ronnie is such a fanny at times, he wouldn't look out of place in a Panto.
Possibly the funniest match i seen in a while. (not talking about the snooker)!!!
@Bashevani I think when a player deliaberately commits a foul after they have already taken their shot, the penalty is a forfeiture of the frame, no matter how many points are left.
@Sandheaver Alrighty, had no idea. You could just read Ronnie's frustration on his face after missing that pot.
i love that way ronnie
@RobertMOdell Indeed. Some of these professional snooker-players do infact play in 8 and 9 ball tournaments.
open the description and look at the tags, quite strange
anyone know if the games on here that parrot won which Willie lost 38 grand on, and was commentating?
Oh that sounds lovely
It was John parrot vs Ken Doherty 1996
LEGENDARY
Sometimes you just decide you don't want something. Seems normal to me.
@RobertMOdell It's quite difficult actually. Cue ball control in snooker is key.
It's all about the cue action mate
Isn't a player disallowed to concede a frame if he has enough points on the table to at least tie?
I dont think its an actual rulet , just considered poor sportsmanship especially in modern times. It's also not really enforceable you cant make someone play on...that's why they get fined instead
Hear hear!
funny, when you think that he won the WSC 6 months earlier
He’s much more mentally focussed nowadays.
They fine you 200 pounds for throwing a frame like this.
now it's 250 or something
Do you think that bothers Ronnie
yeah O'Sullivan throws away 10,000 pounds for a 147 because the prize was too low, so that's the least of his concerns
I know it's bad but Ronnie did suffer from a lot of mental health issues and I kinda love his querkiness, it was just sad when he was clearly not wanting to compete like here. As for the time he did the 146 was fair game, the 147 prize money rolls over every tournament, so it's not as if he threw the money away, he just felt like the 147 prize should be higher, he even said he wanted to treat the crowd because he'd done so many 147's that seeing him do a somewhat controvertial 146 is probably something a crowd would rather witness.
@@WilliamReginaldLucas I know all that. Its amazing after all these years he still gives his fans reason to hope. I mean just look at his recent performance and how close he got.
There’s something about the uk championship Ronnie doesn’t like he usually gets knocked out in the first or has a attitude problem he made it to the semi final once I think
He’s won the UK Championship SIX times, but around the time of this video, he was clearly struggling badly with his mental health!

@mazzadude wtf are you talking about...
What’s happened to the crowd? Empty seats everywhere
@YouthEnergy I grew up on a snooker table but always played 8 ball on it and didn't know the actual game of snooker. I didn't play 8 ball on a standard billiards table until college and it seemed like a toy table. I was good at cueing and could "clear the table" in 8 ball every so often. Watching these guys though, they are masters at breaking up balls and placing. The level of play is way above that of 8 ball champions. These guys should play 8 and 9 ball tournaments too!
@TheLwebber69 you dont know what your talking about.
ya, i want to know who really win it?
Ronnie won that match
Thug life!
#Rizwan ronnie o sullivan do this
I still maintain he didnt Intend to hit the cue ball while snapping away the cue stick in frustration
i post some glasses for you lol
why not xD
ronnie lost 5-9 to Joe
I see nothing wrong with that! If he wanted to give up already at this stage, it was his right!
Maks Rosebuster lol
You're not allowed to concede before you require snookers to win, because otherwise you could have a situation where a player has told someone he will concede in frame x, that person bets on a concession in that frame, and wins. By limiting it to the snookers required stage, it makes that type of betting fraud whilst not impossible, certainly much trickier to pull off.
Lol this is funny 37 ranking titles 20 triples crowns the greatest of all time and how many has he thrown in the bin still my snooker hero
The greatest under acheiver imo Hendry and davis dominated for like a decade when they won all their triple crown events took Ronnie 3 decades
Ronnie wasn't under pressure, he was just annoyed and upset that he missed such a simple red. He has ADHD and I can empathize with him feeling this way, when you know you can make easy shots and you miss them like that, i've thrown games like that before when there's still 90% of the game to be played, it's easy to do when you have such a short temper. Not that i'm comparing myself to God himself.
Commentator should be ashamed of himself.
Ronnie suffering from all sorts, yet is called petulant.
Well he just died so I'm sure he isn't feeling great
@@revenone1077 Yeah, not talking about NOW IN TIME, ffs
When he's on, he's on. Whe he's not. He won't
commentator xD xD
What xD means?
@@mohammadalmoudab6852 its means :D
And this is why i love the Rocket :D
nah i don't think he couldn't take losing, he was just really disappointed with himself.
Petulence? Ronnie was annoyed and conceded! He never cried!! Steve Davis, shut up
thats willie thorne commentating
LOL
Baby 👶
@TheLwebber69 i would get that fucking pot 8/10, not a difficult red.
Don Lewis you can miss anything no matter how good you are
@hikikomORIGIN It's snooker, him having a strop is more exciting than a frame.
@TheLwebber69 i caught her when she was in the morgue, nice and fresh.
I think he was desperate for a poo and needed to get out of there asap before the shit hit the fan
He has had some mental issues in his career that’s for sure
Still my favourite tho Ronnie
Well said... All sport is corrupt to the core. The fact you can bet on anything and everything these days means it will continue to be hijacked by criminals. John Higgins, although cleared, was right when he said "nobody would notice, it's easy to miss when you want".
Football is the same, most of them know they'll be done in a matter of years, so want to make as much cash as they can while they can.
That's the problem. Football is ridiculous nowadays for betting, you can bet a yellow card in a certain time frame.... I mean a player decides to have a bet on it, cynical foul on 55 minutes and its job done. gambling was their greatest invention.
V 9 A 1
Some say he’s the goat? Pfffft!
"Oh Dear Ronnie's petulance..." what a load of crap... they LOVE it when Ronnie does something like that.... keeps the game entertaining and keeps people like Willie Thorne in his cushy wee commentator job.
He probably was pissed off due to slow play
Ronnie is a fabulous player but he does think that he is invincible. No respect for the game, his opponent and the spectators who pay good money to see an exciting game.
No, he had to pay a £300 fine and an additional £1000 in costs.
Det he’s got over £10 million I don’t think £1300 will do much
he wanted to go to toilet or something
and this is why i hate ronnie o'sullivan
Hate is a strong word.
@porcosdep thats why i watch him
others are too boring to watch
This game looks easy.
A fantastic player but hes a disgrace to the sport acts like a baby throwing his dummy out
