@@Magniboards hmm i've been hearing that the lumia legs are slightly different and that the tactility is more pronounced so I'm confused. Some say its identical and some say its a little different :/
It feels and looks the same to me, I checked it thoroughly before making the video. But I think everyone might have their own opinion about it. So better be safe and get lumias instead :)
@@Magniboards yeah, I already have a pile of halo stems that are leftover from creating holy boalas, and honestly out of all variations I've tried (pretty much tried all the housings that I could think of) it felt like koala bottom housings provided the most pronounced tactility with the halo stems and boba top housing. I really enjoyed the "no pretravel travel, snappy tactility with short travel distance" feel and was curious if there were any stems that could provide more emphasis on the tactility. So the 2 other options I found were lumias and poalas but I wasn't sure if it would be worth it to buy them while I already have so many halo stems :/.
Koalas and kiwis don't differ much with halos or lumias based on my tests recently. Polias have a longer stem, i don't know if you'll like it. It feels more abrupt when bottoming out, but again, not by alot, I like the short travel of lumias and halos as it is.
Question about this. I tried making the switch just now and the boba u4t tops I have seem to be extremely tight and a tolerance issue is causing it to not close down properly on the bottom housing as the legs flare out a bit and the stem is tight on the top housing. Would this be due to a bad batch of boba's? I was using Lumia stems for this. And I even tried using other stems to see if they had the binding issue. All the stems I used had the same issue: Glorious Panda stems, Dragon Fruit stems, Kiwi stems, SP-Star Haze Purple stems.
Hey buddy, I'm not entirely sure. I havent come across this issue apart from having switch films. You can try dragon fruit bottoms or zeal bottoms just to check if you still have issues. One of the biggest issues would be if you tamper with the leaf. This causes the tactility to lessen and for some reason, won't actuate key presses. But that's just about it.
I've tried making a batch, but settled on just using the U4T stem with its top, and it'll have to be solder-only because the leaf in the Kiwi bottom is not secured down (the kiwi top has tabs that keep the leaf pressed down into the bottom). You'll run into the same problem as Zykos when trying to put them in hotswap PCBs, where the leaf spring gets pushed up and disengages the contact, preventing switch actuation.
@@Riktasi that's correct. They are better on a soldered build, but I've managed to conjure up a good batch with proper QC and is mounted on my revered millmaxed f1-8x. You just need to be very careful in putting them onto the hotswap board. I guess mine had very little issues because the reverse millmaxed build has a wider opening compared to other hotswap configs.

@@bigchonkers4835 I cant say whether its wood or aluminum. I would probably say Wood because Aluminum is much more solid in terms of construction for sure. That's why PC sounds better than it. But cant say for sure. For Neoprene sheets, shoppee has them if you're in the PH.
@@Magniboards also do you know if theres any major difference in housings with the kiwi vs t1? kiwi's can be hard to come by lol. Thanks for the info im new to the switch modding world :)

Going to try a shorter pole and see what happens. All I know is that the leaf on the Kiwi bottoms doesn't like it if the actuation isn't deep enough, and long pole stems stop that from completely happening.
I dont have cherry tops with me, but for T1 bottom housing, tactility is close, almost the same, but the sound somewhat differs, a bit clackier compared to the kiwi bottoms. Maybe it's just me though, i tried it on 5 bottoms with different stems and tops just to keep it neutral, but the difference is negligible really when you have keycaps on and typing on multiple keys
bro ALL THIS EDITING and amazing asmr b rolls and this man only has 2k subs. You deserve way better bro also I am trying to get into tactiles but I always hated them compared to regular clicky loud switches but now I hate MX Blues with a passion and am switching to Purple Panda Carrots hopefully thatll be sick. But any recommendations for some cheap linears to get into?
I went the easier route and just put the lumia stems on the kiwi housings and it's by far my favorite switch. It has a nice rich deep sound on my kbd67 lite. Thanks for the video.
Happy to be your 500th sub, I’m currently in the car right now but how do you think these compare to holy pandas? Not sure if you mentioned it in the vid or not, thanks!
Hey Buddy! Yeah thanks for being my 500th sub! I actually forgot to include the holy pandas and only realized it after filming. But holy pandas are quite similar to Glorious Pandas, just very little diffference, if any. I have drop holy pandas, during testing. I'd rank holy pandas around tier 3 for tactility.
I think so, at least that's what people point out. But there's also some research that says C3 has a different mold, even if JWK manufactured it. I can do further tests and update the description later.
@@Magniboards Thanks man, really appreciate the reply! I have gotten the chance to build some soju's for myself and have a few more questions for u if you don't mind :D After i build them they have a distinct clicky sound when pressed however when I put them in a board they sound just fine and almost indentical to yours. Is the clicky sound normal in my case?
@@volvobok6644 Hey buddy! WHat you may be hearing is just the pole hitting the bottom housing. It is quite abrupt since the pole is long and the bottom housing has a shallow bottom. It does produce a clicking sound when you press it down. The hollowness of the board takes care of it and when you spring swap, the typical spring pings of lower weighted springs disappear too. Hope this helps!
Question Have you had trouble with some of the switches not registering due to the lumia stem? I’ve gotten about 20-30 of em that are just not registering no matter what I do. Its frustrating cause i can’t figure out what makes em work in the first place 🤣 Would definitely appreciate some help because I absolutely fell in love with these switches but can’t even fill my whole board with em :(
@@Magniboards that's awesome! thank you so much for replying. I really love the sound of the zykos but don't want to deal with the leaf problems of the zealios and panda top lol
@@Magniboards finally made the switches, and holy shit they really are tactile. However, I feel like they suffer from the leaf moving around quite a lot (gmmk pro hotswap moment) so i'd like to ask if the boba top have any pins in place to prevent the movement of the leaf :)
@@Sharkyzane231 Unfortunately the dont. I never experienced that issue though, Ive made like 5 batches for friends, but they really require meticulous QC lol
Yes, somewhat? I'm not sure if T1 and C3 have the same mold even if they were manufactured both by JWK, but I can do some tests. The feel should be the same as the sound. Even if they aren't the same mold, I think the feel and the sound wont differ as much. Let me test and update the description!
Absolute professional, love the production quality :) I'm also planning to build a tactile mechanical keyboard, not sure which switch should I use instead. Currently among the tactile switches I got from gateron cherry box switch testers, zealios has the best feel for me personally, but it's quite expensive I'm not sure which tactile switches should I get :( any suggestion
Thanks very much! Yeah, Zelios is really tactile. But because of the cost, you can opt to go for cheaper options like Gazzew Boba U4/U4Ts (very tactile, and sounds awesome too), Dark Jades, Glorious Pandas, and others. I ranked them on the video. I also made a costing for your reference!
Did you have any issues with the switches in a hot swap board? I've made a handful with the kiwi bottoms/ lumia stem/ boba top and have some issues with the switches not registering
I haven't tried these myself, but I've tried bykos, issue is the boba top doesn't retain the leaf, so when you push it in to a hot swap the leaf gets pushed up slightly. I've seen people pull on the legs from the back of the pcb when soldering to make sure the leaf sits at the bottom of the housing. Im guessing it's the same with these sojus.
@@unzinn2014 Yeah i've realized the issue so far is that when I just have the legs contact the sockets, the switch works just fine, but when the switch is fully seated that's when the issues occur. I had better luck with zykos and cherry tops (since the boba tops don't have that little prong to keep the leaf in place) but the boba tops just sound so much better.
I really dont recommend them to hotswap boards due to the incompatibility of the top housing. It's quite similar to the issues with Zykos so it's always best to solder them. I do use them on a reversed-millmax board.
Anyone like these better than Bykos? I currently have Bykos and quite doubtful whether I could go with another switch. Edit: I was correct. Bykos are better imo. But still great switches.
Wait I’m confused??? U added kiwi bottoms which are more shallower yet got an even deeper sound than the already deep ass bykos??? Which have “deeper” (as In less shallow) bottom housing??? Whaaaaaat?
Deep or deeper is purely based on my opnion. Based on my testing, Zealbottoms and kiwis are almost the same in depth. There are so many factors affecting sound. Thats why I mentioned you should also do your own tests.
@@fiiroze Yes, the Sojus, but I think the diffirence is really minute to be honest, you cant go wrong with both. Kiwi bottoms were just less of a hassle to use on millmaxed boards and the sound did improve by a bit based on my standards. Plus, no need to sand the legs when using millmax sockets as opposed to Zealpc bottoms.
@@Magniboards yh true, oh yh one last thing this whole soju video just put my “ bykos is the best endgame tactile switch “ in the mud to be dead honest and so I was comparing the two and although the lumia and halo clear/true stems are the same length - are the tactile legs the complete same shape too like a full on 1:1 copy? I know u mentioned it in the bud however I said apparently😂If not which is more tactile?
They look and feel the same to me 🤷 if they are different, you'll barely notice it. bykos is an awesome switch too, not too far from Sojus. But I like the Sojus a bit better, I have tested them both, but it all boils down to preference. 🥂
Hey man, i really love the video as well as the sound of the switches so i tried making a batch myself, but it seems some of the switches do not actuate. Im not sure what the issue is, but whenever i dont use a kiwi top, the same issue occurs. Is this because i got a bad batch? I would really appreciate some help.
It's mostly because the leaf of the switch has been moved. Switches that don't actuate will either seem like a linear or isn't as tactile as switches that work. I've done some troubleshooting for a friend and this has been the case.
It's usually an issue with hotswap boards because the boba tops doesn't hold the leafs in place. But if you did a reverse solder, like what I did with my F1-8x, the sockets are a bit looser compared to kaihl sockets, which can prevent the issues. In your case, if the switch leaves have been moved, the switch itself is already "broken" :( so be extra careful in opening and closing the switches. The best practice I do is connect the board while I put the switches in while on keyboard tester.
@@Magniboards aw what a shame :(. I spent 3+ hrs lubing and filming them and I really loved the sound and feel. I guess I’ll try something else, bu I also want to ask about the boba top. I’m not sure if it’s QC issues but some of my Lumia stems don’t travel smoothly and It causes an inconsistent feel across the board. Do you know any way to fix this / an alternative to the boba top that gives a similar feel? I might try holy bobas using the Lumia stem.
@@stennn8624 I'm not entirely sure. someone also mentioned this to me but Gazzew confirmed there was no issues with Boba tops. I have not come across this issue myself. I've been very high with my QC and the only issues I've had are the misalignment of the leaves. You can try halo stems and check if it solves the issues.
Your filmed U4Ts have a noticeably deeper sound than unfilmed. I haven’t seen this anywhere else; do they actually sound deeper in person? And, if they do, what film did you use?
Let me know what you think of these switches! Also, did you like that B-Roll Sequence? :)

@@Magniboards do you think using the polia stem instead of the lumia stem was similar?
bro ALL THIS EDITING and amazing asmr b rolls and this man only has 2k subs. You deserve way better bro also I am trying to get into tactiles but I always hated them compared to regular clicky loud switches but now I hate MX Blues with a passion and am switching to Purple Panda Carrots hopefully thatll be sick. But any recommendations for some cheap linears to get into?
Is it a mainstream to have a hair on wobble test ? Seeing this on many such tests.
I can also make these switches but with T1 bottoms right? Since they're both from jwk
I think so, at least that's what people point out. But there's also some research that says C3 has a different mold, even if JWK manufactured it. I can do further tests and update the description later.
where can I buy these???
You'll have to make it yourself with a bunch of switches I mentioned in the video!
Hi a question here, do you lube and film the soju's itself? If so what lube and film did you use / recommend?
I do. I don't recommend filming Sojus because the tolerance is already tight. I used 203g0 for them.
Question
Have you had trouble with some of the switches not registering due to the lumia stem? I’ve gotten about 20-30 of em that are just not registering no matter what I do. Its frustrating cause i can’t figure out what makes em work in the first place 🤣
Would definitely appreciate some help because I absolutely fell in love with these switches but can’t even fill my whole board with em
:(
These days, RUclipsrs with relatively few subscribers have the best production quality.
Man, thanks so much for your kind words. Im assuming you're talking about me lol. But sincerely, thanks for checking the channel!
@@Magniboards hope to see more quality content from you, bro. To more subscribers in the future 🥂
@@rahniervillanueva9579 Thanks very much for your support!
Did you try sake switches? You swapped out the boba u4t bottom housing so I'm guessing you preferred the kiwis. Also were these switches scratchy?
Sake's were part of the comparison switches in this video. The switches arent scratchy as long as they are properly lubed.
can the Soju switch be used with a panda top instead of a boba top?
if so, will it result in a higher pitched top out sound?
thank you :)
There's really very little sound difference, if i were to be honest. If you do change it to a panda top, it will essentially become zyoks :)
@@Magniboards that's awesome! thank you so much for replying. I really love the sound of the zykos but don't want to deal with the leaf problems of the zealios and panda top lol
@@Sharkyzane231 goodluck!
How do the switches sound soju cup lubed? :D
What do you think sounds deeper lumia or halo true/clear stem?
I honestly think they sound the same, they look like copies of each other. Pole length, shape, etc.
How they compare to Alps SKCMs?
How would you suggest lubing these?
Same way you would lube other tactiles. Completely up to you if you want to lube the legs or not 🤠
Can i use U4 silent 's top?
So glad i came across this! Was about to make zykos but zeal bottoms suck for millmax, are kiwis compatible with millmax?
Yes they are. Ive used them on normal millmax mounting and reverse. I prefer reverse millmax for everything now.
So it's a holy t1 with a boba top! I feel like the name might be confusing to most, and people might not get that you can sub in any t1 bottom
@@Magniboards thanks for answering my concern 😍
Yeah, no worries! 🥂
what's the drink in the intro?
@@Magniboards Thanks!
Anyone like these better than Bykos? I currently have Bykos and quite doubtful whether I could go with another switch.
Edit: I was correct. Bykos are better imo. But still great switches.
The most tactile switch I've ever used (that was still useable) are blueberry stems in koala housings (or t1)
Nice! I'd have to give that a try!
What is that song that u used during the intro b-roll?? Lowkey kinda slaps :D
What keycaps did u use on the keyboard when you were demontrating the switches?
Wait I’m confused??? U added kiwi bottoms which are more shallower yet got an even deeper sound than the already deep ass bykos??? Which have “deeper” (as In less shallow) bottom housing??? Whaaaaaat?
Deep or deeper is purely based on my opnion. Based on my testing, Zealbottoms and kiwis are almost the same in depth. There are so many factors affecting sound. Thats why I mentioned you should also do your own tests.
@@Magniboards which one of the two housing had the “deeper” sound in ur opinion cuz in the video it was clearly the soju switches by far
no switches were harmed in the making of the video
definitely none! Good to have you here!
@@Magniboards oh i see, do you have any idea how to fix it? Im using a hotswap board
