Counselling session was conducted by the SSE/C&W/NGC and among the staff regarding wheel defect and use of tyre defect gauge
Hollow Tyre: Over time, tyres can wear in a way that creates a hollow groove, eventually leading to the formation of a false flange.Repercussions:A hollow tyre with a false flange can cause severe problems such as splitting open points while traveling in a trailing direction.It may also experience sudden lifts and drops near the nose of crossings, which can destabilize the train and compromise passenger safety.Both these conditions highlight the importance of regular maintenance and vigilant monitoring to ensure the safe and efficient operation of rail services.
