@@Bellthorian Not always. I've seen moms tear down the big boys in areas like this. On level ground though, they're outmatched. That's why the females are smart enough to use their braìns and move higher, and the makes are dùmb enough to follow. Moms use these cliffs to knock them back and occasionally off the cliff. Sometimes they go together, sometimes mama watches an overconfident male splatter.

In our species, infanticides are more often committed by females/women. The comparaison with a female urside is irrelevant in terms of behavior, but flattering and empowering for sure. Not saying that there are no great human mothers, there are plenty, Just that the fathers are generally not cannibals( unlike bears.)

I've seen dozens of fights with moms and nakes go up mountains like this. Mamas know they can suddenly launch at the trailing males, and occasionally they'll knock them down the mountain. I recently watched a video on RUclips which show cased a lady hiking with her daughter in Alberta. Unfortunately the two ran into a mother grizzly with two cubs. The human mother and daughter wasn’t hurting the grizzly or cubs. But the mother grizzly tore the human mother and her 11 year old daughter to pieces simply because they were in her vicinity in the wilderness. So? Is the mother bear the epitome of mother hood there too? And often times a mother bear will kill another mother of another terrestrial species and that molecular species babies too in order to feed the bears young. So? Is that too the epitome of mother hood? Or or Is Mother Nature possibly just simply crazy? At times? In this existence? In setting up such a scenario? That way. In this life. Hey🤫it’s just a question.

They're cute, cuddly, and extremely durable. Our cubs use quality manufacturing. Scrapes scuffs, drags, falling out of trees. These bear cubs will last a life time
People who have spent time in the bush understand the ruggedness of animals. They can even poke their eyes in ways we can't. I've seen squirrels fall from trees from 20 feet and get back up. They even seem to fall in such a way as to not break anything

This is quite an awesome video. Many people are complaining that you ended the video early - they don’t know how it works in real life! Sometimes the cub could be lost for hours or 1-2 days even, before reuniting with mom, and surviving by climbing up a tree and staying there. Sometimes, the cub falls victim to the bear further away. Shows how incredibly shallow people are nowadays, expecting all videos to be like the movies or something.

I am impressed that the male bear backed off. He was at least twice her size. Why did he back off? Was it because it was a young male? He could (if he wanted) had killed her. Can anyone that is an expert on bears please tell me?

Sadly it appears that he spotted the cub that had run up the hill at around the 2:28 mark. But it doesn't look like he ate it or carried it off anywhere. Would he have killed it just to kill it? Or maybe we just didn't see the male take the cub away.

That heavily depends. Some bears actually do kill cubs due to predation/hunger.

I am impressed that the male bear backed off. He was at least twice her size. Why did he back off? Was it because it was a young male? He could (if he wanted) had killed her. Can anyone that is an expert on bears please tell me?

The one cub went up and around the back and then down left side. You can see a glimpse of it before it heads down to the cub that fell

Yes I can see the glimpse of the other cub going down the left, but that’s ALSO where the male bear goes so is there any update if it survived? Did any of the people taking the video actually see the second cub again. There should definitely be an update here.
Sadly it appears that he spotted the cub that had run up the hill at around the 2:28 mark. But it doesn't look like he ate it or carried it off anywhere. Would he have killed it just to kill it? Or maybe we just didn't see the male take the cub away.
