That conclusion is not what I wanted to hear but what I needed to hear.
What phone should I get as my next phone here in Europe? but I need it before September

hmm. not sure if the timing will be suitable but i think we'll be seeing more SD8+G1 devices hit the market eventually. Samsung has their event on Aug 10 which will be their flip/fold devices. if camera performance isn't as crucial and performance is more important, realme already has the GT2 master explorer edition with SD8+G1 (which hopefully will see a global release soon), and OnePlus is set to launch their 10T with that chip too. Though for realme and OnePlus, i doubt their camera performance will be as good as vivo or samsung though. There are some rumours that vivo will be launching an X80 Pro+ with the new chip too, but it's suggested it will be in like October? So might be a bit tough actually 😅

It charges in 32 min not 40 i

if your x80 pro manages to charge in 32 mins then great for you i guess. Mine takes just over 40 mins to get to 100% from an empty battery (after the phone turns off by itself). maybe that could explain the longer charge time for me. gsmarena's tests took 39 mins after all.

Great review, the phone looks good with the various features you shared, even the cameras look really great at night. (until I saw the price shown near the end of the video).

🤣🤣🤣 yeah. personally i feel like if the chipset was better, and they polished their software up a bit more, it might have been more palatable at that price since the rest of the hardware is pretty much top of the line. Plus even has some extra stuff like the DAC, and that ultrasonic fingerprint sensor. Now that qualcomm has switched back to TSMC, their next flagship phone should fare better.

@@axhng we shall see, I guess. I feel their hardware is continuing to be the "jam it all flagship" which I honestly prefer, as compared to the other BBK companies like Oppo and OnePlus, though understandably they're all going in different directions to make themselves stand out more from each other.

    • @axhng

@@MebiManga yeah. I kinda feel like they're always being very careful about not stepping on each other's toes (between all the BBK companies), which sometimes feels like they're not trying their hardest to make the best phone they can. but i guess it makes sense for them business wise to split things up this way.
I think if vivo could implement a variant of colorOS like what OnePlus or realme is doing now for their global phones, it would be a great combination with their hardware.
FunTouchOS while usable still doesn't feel as polished as ColorOS. Maybe most of their efforts for software is on OriginOS in the chinese market instead. :/

@@axhng yeah that might be the case, they're having a skin with widgets like Iphone right, the RnD is probably focusing on that one atm

@@MebiManga yeah. it's kinda unique looking at least. but well, maybe using funtouchOS is a way for BBK to differentiate vivo from OPPO. 😂

Thanks for the review. What are your thoughts on the previous X70 Pro+ compared to this and if it’s still worth a consideration? Would you know if the fingerprint sensor is the same?

    • @axhng
      @axhng  2 года назад +3

I've not tried the X70 Pro+ but if i recall, it was using an optical fingerprint sensor, not the ultrasonic one. Though one thing to note here is maybe that ultrasonic sensors are a bit more fussy when it comes to glass screen protectors from my experience with samsung devices. they work great with those thinner film/hydrogel type though.
I think they're probably camera wise based on reviews I've seen, and SD888 to SD8G1 isn't really an upgrade since most manufacturers had to throttle and limit the SD8G1 hard too to control the heat. So for regular usage and less demanding games, i don't think it will be a huge upgrade.
So if the X70 Pro+ can be found at a much cheaper price, and you really can't wait for newer phones (maybe an X80 Pro+ with SD8+G1), then I think it might be a better buy than the X80 Pro actually. That said, the X70 Pro+ had very limited availability though, so might be hard to find global units with full google support out of the box. :/ Most I've seen are Chinese units that requires sideloading google stuff. But well, i'll still recommend waiting if possible. 😂 Sd8+g1 is a nice upgrade over Sd8g1 and sd888 in terms of performance, thermals, and power efficiency imo.

@@Sleepymeinsg I have the X70 Pro+ for 5 months, The digital reader is optical and works great, The Snapdragon 888 Plus is excellent and I have no problems with heating, but as the friend said, it is better to wait for an X80Pro+ or successor, remembered we the X70 Pro+ has no global version, was only marketed in China and India, China with OriginOs and India with FantouchOs, so I know the FantouchOs works better with Google services and has more languages, it would be an almost global version, the version I have is with OriginOs had to uninstall various apps and install google apps, the device has Google services, but nothing comes installed, after installation everything working
