    I can't wait for Roland to buy your idea so I can get one of these kits myself! :) Excellent work, sir. I wish I were as handy as you.

      Ha! That would be nice, however, as this idea is un-patented and has been in the public domain for more than a year, anyone can copy it. No problem with me. I actually looked into patenting it and it wasn't worth it.

    Loving your video series on building your footdrum. I'm somewhat obsessed with the Farmer FootDrum and doing custom mods. You have some truly great ideas.

    Exciting to watch your journey with this! I'm a keyboard player working on the same thing. It's amazing the big music manufacturers haven't come out with anything. Still. I mean bits and pieces. I've worked with various piezo elements and have built multiple footboards (midi) to come up with something good. My drum interface is the Alesis Trigger io. Going into Ableton Live. Dude you'd love the possibilities Ableton provides. Managing sample libraries, building nuanced custom drum kits, switching up your drum kits and tweaking them on the fly. Ableton is really designed for stage use. Also I came up with a different response to the "cross-talk" issue. I found sometimes I actually wanted the kick and snare to hit at the same time. With a fast drum pattern it's easier to play. I found a way to control whether the midi kick hits on its own, or if it hits together with the snare. I call this phenomenon "sympathetic resonance" and used it to my advantage. I should make a video of my multiple prototypes LOL but I want to complete my build before showing it to the world. Currently in the valley between prototypes, as you were for a couple years. At the moment just using a stomp box on the left, and a hihat on the right. Neat actually.. DW makes a low-boy. Visually it looks cool under the piano. Inspired by this guy. ruclips.net/video/0k2dGhF6yVk/видео.html. Also i'm playing with velocity levels triggering different sounds. So if I'm playing the midi hi-hat and hit it extra hard, it triggers the crash. Stomp box can also be used as a midi trigger. But I'm sure you're aware. ANyways keep exploring and sharing your discoveries! Seems to add a lot to your live gig sound.

    Congratulations on completing your journey, have thoroughly enjoyed seeing you get the win at the end! I'm just starting my own journey into Foot Drums, I'm a lot lazier than you, I just want to get straight to a working solution, but im sure i'll end up having a saga of my own, thanks for the inspiration!

    Very well done, all your ingenuity, there's one thing that I find complicated is the batter having to stay very close to roland kd7, I prefer to leave it further away, but I can't leave it because he makes a double or triple beat, he chimes, it must be because of the rubber, I have to leave mine very close, I tried to put a foam in the beater to see if it would not make the re-raise, when you find a solution let us know.

      Hi Paulo, mine does the same thing, but my drum sound module has a feature called "wait time". I can adjust the wait time so that if my beater bounces, it will ignore the second hit if it's within the wait time.

      It's a good thing mine doesn't have that, it's really simple, here in Brazil you don't have these facilities to find a module easily, except for the full battery, mine is something simpler, the only way is to leave something very close a finger away or very far so that when you hit it even with your foot supported, it stops close.

    This is great! I think i will try to build a cheaper verson in the future. The layout looks nice. I would probably add a switch to the heel of the cymbal to change it into a ride. Or use it as a mute. Thanks for the inspiration!

    • @HighRoadMusicTutorials
      @HighRoadMusicTutorials  3 года назад

      Glad you like it! That's not a bad idea with the switch. I'd considered something similar off to the side, like a generic boss on/off switch or something. However, the next video will show a slightly more refined version with a few extra triggers. Stay tuned :-)
