Hi sir. I just received the Emlid rs3 and got a question because i didnt know that i needed a sim card and i dont want to get it or use WiFi. Does this not work with lora antenna. Im trying to do tower mapping. Just started and i knew i should of bought the DJI D-rtk2 base station which doesn't require none of the sim cards nor Internet and just work fine with my mavic 3 enterprise drone.

Hi Sir, I would like to know if it is possible to work with both base and rover with sim cards in them without depending on Emlid Caster and NTRIP?

For RTK the rover unit needs to consume some correction input to achieve high-accuracy results.
If the correction stream is sent via LoRa from the base to the rover, SIM cards are not required for either device.
Our teams often work in remote locations where there is no access to 3G or 4G services. In these cases they rely on the correction stream sent using LoRa.
If you are using an NTRIP correction source such as AusCORS or HxGN SmartNet, then you need a SIM card in the rover. No base stations are required for this method as corrections are being received from external sources via the Internet.
If you want to broadcast corrections using Emlid's Caster service, you will need a network connection for both the base and rover. A network connection via an internal SIM card would be the easiest way to achieve this.

Sir, i have a query. Where should a sim be put on a rover or on a base only? Would it also be proper to put sim card each on a rover and a base?

Hi Rolando, If you would like to use Emlid Caster to broadcast a correction from your base to your rover, then Yes, you will need to insert a SIM card into both your base and your rover. However, if you are connecting your rover to another NTRIP corrections source, such as HxGN Smartnet or AusCORS (AusCORS is available in Australia only) then you will only need to insert a SIM card into your rover. If you are using LoRa radio to broadcast corrections from base to rover, then the SIM cards are not required.
