Real Hiphop is all one. Back in the day Ice Cube was so much on the East coast, You felt like he was from here. East Coast rappers like Chuck D (Public Enemy) did his first solo album.
Slick Rick's "Children's Story" is STILL absolutely my #1, favorite Hip Hop song. With no chorus, Rick tell an entire story so vividly you can invision it. Then, in the end, hits listeners with a timeless message. Pac is permanentely on my 5 top rappers list, and one reason for that is because Brenda's Gotta Baby model's Rick's Children's Story.
Slick Rick is one of the most underrated rappers of all time. He was the first one that it heard using adlibs and skits. Fat Boys might’ve used skits but I only vaguely remember. Lol
KRS ONE got mad hits. Sound of tha police is just timeless. Can't stop, wont stop is one of my all time favorites, but Stop Frontin with Kid Capri is my jam. The groove of instrumental, the lyrics, just fenomenal all together...
Crazy I just told the homie today that Redman got that talking as someone else or quoting someone while rapping from Slick Rick. They do good impressions while rapping.
Cube was on his way to being the goat before he dumbed down his lyrics in the late ‘90s. His first few albums are legendary, I still don’t know wtf happened. Maybe it’s because he wanted to focus on movies, but man…
I love the deep respect that mature seasoned rappers have with eachother. It makes my heart feel so much joy! These young rappers today need to learn these humble ways. Redman is a legend in his own rite.
He named a good handful of Legends right here. Respect for him droppin' some dope names. "The Green Eyed Bandit can't stand it" Mr. Erick Sermon himself from EPMD. PMD a dope MC too. I prolly woulda thrown in Guru of Gang Starr (R.I.P), Too $hort, Rappin-4-Tay, CL Smooth, Buckshot da BDI Emcee, Kool G. Rap, Spice 1, Lord Finesse, Edo G from Boston & a few other Katz. Yo Redman from Jersey right!? I think 🤔 I remember he's a Jersey Kat.
He's talking about where his style came from. The rappers that had great influence on him and made him who he is today. Not, the names of all the dope rappers he knows
@@kigegamlin4720 L M F A O. Bruhhh. You think I don't know that!? Im familiar with Redman & I understood what he meant from the jump. Obviously you misunderstood my comment. I KNOW he wasn't droppin' names just to drop names. MY POINT was that IN ADDITION TO the names that he ALREADY dropped, for me personally? I would have added the names I mentioned as MY influences. Redman has been in the Game a long ass time so I'm fully aware that if he were to drop all the names he grew up listening to? Especially every last one of them? He would start naming 100+ artists & emcees. All I was saying is that "IF IT WERE ME", I would have added more influences because THAT'S WHO I grew up listening to. You misunderstood my point my guy. In your context, I would have given Redman WAY more credit for his knowledge of Hip Hop but I wasn't saying that.
@@joshuadiaz2330 seems i have misunderstood you. Your intentions went right over my head bruv. Cuz you see your comment was misleading you know? You never said anything bout if I were the one naming all the Emcees who had an influence on finding my style of rapping then I would have mentioned all these rappers , y'know? It was quite easy to get mislead and I didn't know you rap so I thought you misunderstood the video thinking it was about which rappers had an influence on his life as a whole. Cuz, you know a lot of artists not just rappers have an immense influence on their viewers and listeners and obviously rap being so charismatically astounding, and ,profound, and also, verbally and mentally genius is proned to influence many people all around the globe. And, also obviously a rapper's style of rapping comes from picking up a bit from a lotta different rappers the numbers could easily reach up to 50 or something but he is talking about the only notable few who are the most present in his style y'know I'm sayin? Where I'm getting at is if you rap then show me a video of you rapping with your own unique style and I can tell which rappers are present in your style and even if all the above mentioned rappers you named have influenced your style in some way I doubt I can hear all of 'em in you but I'm sure I will hear a certain few which dominates all the others in your style. It's literally verbally and physically impossible to mimic 14 different people in one speech. To me it seemed like you just wanted to show or flaunt your knowledge of rap it showed all over your comment ( to me it seemed like it ) but if I'm wrong then let me say this i don't mean to offend you in any way, shape or form I'm just being honest. Hope you can take it and i know our ego tells us to not let take shit from others especially if it's coming from a stranger but, trust me it's just an honest brother i don't hold no malicious intent towards you and intact, you could be just as honest with me then I'll be so glad cuz you know we're not even from the same country brother if you can then please do take my comment offensively and if you find my English a little or very shortcoming of me then sorry I was not able communicate my thoughts to you properly. Cuz you see where I'm from my people can't even speak the National language right let alone write it and English is I guess in a way our third language
@@kigegamlin4720 I See. Well I guess when I submitted my comment, I was hoping it wasn't necessary for it to be dissected or decoded like it was a long lost ancient language. I guess when I said what I said, I felt it was relatively blunt & straight forward. From my perspective it was clear, concise & straight to the point. However, if you're saying English is basically you're third language, then I completely understand. No harm no Foul brotha. Peace & Blessings. ✌️🕊️

Redman will always be my favorite rapper on the East Coast...I was only nigga on the ES with that red cassette Dare is A Dark side in my h62d which was all Crips...I went thru hell cause of the color of the cassette lol...I still played it and didn't give a fuecc!
50% of west Coast influence. Someone got offended when I said why don't East Coast rappers rhyme to other beats than traditional East Coast beats. I wonder what west coast beats might open other doors. Did anyone catch this vibe?
I’m around the same age as Red & im from the DMV & he’s from Newark so there is albeit small common ground & Cube is to people my age (52) the top of the mountain when you talk about west coast specifically LA hip hop….he was not only the 1st (ok Ice T was 1st) LA rapper to get genuine love & respect on the east coast he did it with a Jheri curl 😳
