I have to thank Jacob at American Tin for being so dismissive after I spent time filling out all the design request info on their website and uploading pictures...I did get thrown one tiny bone, a suggestion to convert the grid. I need 2x4 tiles instead of 2x2, so I ordered some tin color samples and PVC samples from another website and was shocked that visually you cannot tell the difference at all. The PVC is much easier to work with (can cut with scissors), the design choices and colors are endless, the price difference is negligible, and I'm confident I can do this whole project myself especially since I don't need to convert the grid. Big mistake to let people figure this out lol.
Just curious about installing the PVC. I tried this before and the contact glue was challenging to use and nearly took me out! Plus, I had to strip the ceiling of all popcorn before installation. Did you have a similar experience?
Visually, you often cannot tell the difference between many quality materials vs cheaper alternatives. I looked into PVC initial as well, but there was almost no cost savings. I couldn't imagine spending that much knowing I just covered my ceiling in plastic. Oh and if you can operate scissors, I would hope you can operate the tin ships 🙄
That trim next to wall or I guess ceiling is ugly and I think ruins the rest of the ceiling. Is there a reason you could not put some sort of design on that instead of just a flat piece?
Hi, yes, you can. We have two types of Filler panels. The one in the video is F1 (a hammered pattern), but our F2 design is more decorative. You can see it here: www.americantinceilings.com/f2/
What if you have an hvac return ?
Ceiling obstructions are cut easily with Aviation tin snips. Like these - www.americantinceilings.com/tin-snips/

honestly when you see a job done with the bumpy filler around the edges it does look good
Hate the filler piece other then that looks good
