Can a pick really make you faster?

- It was truly an honor working with Purple Plectrums over the course of five months designing my signature pick. Every little detail on this pick is there for a reason bringing you what might very well be the most stable guitar pick on the market. The concept is simple: more stability = lighter grip = lower tension = more speed. And of course, no compromise! Speed without sacrificing tone, articulation, or dynamics, making this pick suitable for everything from shred to heavy riffs as well as more dynamic lower gain styles of playing.

I bought this a bit over a month ago and it really does make playing easier and smoother. Once in a while I go back and try an old style pick for a few minutes and I can really feel such a big difference and quickly go back to this one.
Thank you for sharing your experience! I'm really glad you are enjoying the pick, Jeff! 🙌
so good it defies the laws of physics.
😏👌
I have one in my hand right now. I love it, especially because I liked the apollo model from purple plec's. Guthrie Govan said that if you want more control over your sound, you wanna have a short nub out of the end of your pick, so that you're hand is as close to the strings as possible. Your model does that very well.
it's also stylish, an absolutely must lol. Looks like quartz, feels like velvet.
Thank you for sharing your experience with the pick! I'm really glad you are enjoying it! 🙏
Do you prefer this pick or the Apollo? I want the blackmore ultra mini but I also want this one and a standard size but with all three it comes out to over $100, and I don't even know what thickness to get the Apollo, so I don't want to spend $100 on some picks I don't like
@@professored7169 $100?!!
I use an English sixpence like Brian May. Sometimes I use a British 5 pence coin... which only costs 5 pence!!!
Man that guitar is so beautiful ❤ it’s mesmerizing.
Thank you! 🎸
Ordered mine today! Can't wait for it to arrive! Thanks for working with Purple Plectrum and making this.
Thank you! I hope you love it. I hope to hear your thoughts once you try it out! 🙌
I will definitely report back here when it arrives and let you know. I have a feeling am going to love it. @@AmarAlhoch
Great video.
That guitar is beautiful man!
Great Video Amar !! I've dropped a lot of hints to my Wife about these Picks and Christmas coming up quick . And I've also left the Ordering Info around the house so hopefully I'll see a few of these Picks soon . I hope you're doing well Amar . Stay safe . 🎸
I hope you will find one of these in your hands as well. I'd love to hear your thoughts if you do. Good to hear from you as always! Stay well! 🙌🙏
How’d it go? You get the pick?
Very cool dude looks sick man 🤘🏻
Thanks man! 🙌🙌
Getting one of these next. Just got my Purple Apollo on Tue based off one of your other vids. Best $40 I've spent on equipment in a long time. Can't wait to try your signature design.
I'm glad you are enjoying the Apollo! That was my go-to previously. I'd love to hear your thoughts if you grab one of these 🙌
I enjoyed learning about the thought that can go into a pick design. Very interesting!
There's more than people realize going into designing a pick!
I've got two of their MidTechs on order and I *cannot* wait to get my hands (well, my right hand, actually) on them!
Awesome! I hope you love them as much as I do!
If you try a felt pick, you might find it has the same qualities..? It can also be sanded to change the profile if desired. They were traditionally used as bass guitar picks decreasing the string noise. Soft silicone picks are another option.
That's one awesome pick! Congratulations on your signature pick! 🙌🙌👏🏼 thanks for sharing!
Thank you Mari! 😊
Thanks Amar for an entire video totally explaining your pic........
No problem 🙂
I love my pick!! Just arrived in the mail. I think it’s clear to say that Kori is a master pick maker
I'm happy you like it! Kori is a master indeed!
just got the confirmation that mine is in transit to the UK I can't wait till i get to try it!
I'd love to hear your thoughts when you get it!! 🙏
Best pick ever!!
I'm happy you like it!!
Just subbed for future lessons from you, sir. Thank you so much.
Welcome aboard! 🙂
Thats so sweet !
Thanks Amar, I'll get a pair of those picks..
Would you make a video talking about your right hand technnic and would be nice to know if you use the economy picking in your solos... cheers 😊
I hope you love them as much as I do. I will consider some technique videos. Good idea. 🎸🙂
Personally I found the opposite where rounder tips are concerned. I use those red Dava picks and they're really pointy and I found they are super accurate and precise. When they wear out they sound sloppy. I've been meaning to order one of those different thicker picks from PP. Thanks for all you amazing melodic shreddiness and inspiration.
Well I agree, sharper tips feel more accurate and precise to me as well. Rounder tips just feel faster. I'd love to hear your thoughts on thicker picks if you end up grabbing one. Thank you for the words! 🙂
Hey there! It's been a while since the Last Time. Hope you're doing alright. That's one of the things i have figured Out the Last years. Thicker picks Just give you more Control and Sound. I used to Play jazz3 picks. Now i am using Dunlop tortex 2 mm. And i think it's worth trying Out your picks. And i Case of losing a door Stopper...? 🤣👋🤘🤘
Hello from Always rainy Germany. I am freezing my Butt of right now. Time for some Coffee and 2 hours of scale practise. By the way, i Just learned almost every Mode. I am almost able to hear some chords and guess the Mode then. Phrygian, Dorian and ionian are my Favorite so far. And locrian Rocks as Well. You propably don't know but "you" are the one who Made me dig really deep into Music theory. Learning 30 minutes everyday helps a Lot. After 6 month you can Talk about it without sounding Like a Wannabe. Thx for that Inspiration. And i have the Axe Fx 2 from a friend to try Out. Fricking love it!
Hey man! Long time indeed! It's good to hear from you! I hope all is well! 🙏
I'd love to hear your thoughts if you do try one of those picks/doorstoppers 😄
And that's so awesome to hear! I'm glad you are progressing on the instrument. The modes are awesome and learning a little theory sure opens up a few doors. I'm happy to have been able to inspire you 🙂🤍
My favorite picks are the ultex jazz III. I’ll have to order one of these.
Those were my favorites before discovering Purple Plectrums 3 years ago 👌
I'd love to hear your thoughts on this one if you grab one!
That’s always been my trouble… loosing control over my pik
I received one just a few days ago. It’s unbelievable what diffrence it makes regarding speed, precision and articulation. I thought it would be a waste of money but now I am converted, when I go back to jazzIII i.e. it feels weird😂
Thank you for sharing your experience. I'm really glad you like it and it's working out for you as intended 🫡
❤
🤍🙏
What’s good homie
Shit looks like a home plate from a baseball field 😂 god damn bro lol
Very true 😄
@@AmarAlhoch lol
So, do you not do any strumming on the guitar? Do you use a more rounded edge of the same pick or a different pick altogether? Thanks.
I actually never do strumming. For standard strumming, I'm sure it's fine. I wouldn't know about other styles like funk however.
Gr8 sir
That pick sounds fantastic. What model of guitar is that?
LSL Staticoy 24 custom from The Vibrato Bar 🎸
Just ordered some. Let’s see how goes. Been curious for a while.
I'm interested in hearing your thougts when it arrives! 🙌🙏
@@AmarAlhoch I’ll let you know. Hope it helps my old hands.
@@AmarAlhoch arrived yesterday, spent about half an hour this morning playing around, first thing I did was hit some Vai songs, I noticed an immediate decrease intention in my right hand, the tone is amazing, and obviously it’s gonna take a little time to get used to, but wow, I’m very impressed, thank you for posting this. I’m gonna order some more lol
I'm so happy to hear that! I'm really glad you are liking the pick. They're so awesome haha my collection is massive after all these years 😆
Howdy, ordering one also but what is your fractal patch I have a n AxeFx3 and I’ve not been happy with the tones
I’m playing through Genelec studio near fields if that makes a difference
Thanks
Thank you! I hope you like it. I use an FM3. I have my presets on my website (link in bio) but I'm not sure if they can be converted to the AXE III
Uma guitarra mais bonita que a outra!!!!!😮😮😮
Is there a new album on the works? If so when will it be available?
5 songs are in the works. I should have more info soon but release will be sometimes between fall and winter 🎸🙂
Would love to try one.. but they are not cheap!!
They are handmade so it does get pricey!
Do you have video about vibrato?
What is that guitar? It's 👌
It's a custom LSL Saticoy from The Vibrato Bar boutique guitar shop 🎸
So I guess I should ask this. I’m finally at the point I think I’m going to pull the trigger and by a purple plectrums pick, how does the texture of the material feel compared to say a ultex pick like a jumbo flow? I know the thickness will contribute to ease of grip but I still have a hard time with the idea of a pick that has no texturing on its surface. I’m so used to scratching up a pick with a razor for grip texture or buying one that has a raised texture on the grip surface that it makes me nervous to buy a more expensive pick that doesn’t have that texture added
It's hard for me to say because I personally don't have any grip issues with any picks. I can say this pick is more stable than other picks I've played, making itove around less between the fingers while playing with a loose grip. So I guess that helps with the stability and grip but I can't be of much more help than that unfortunately. Also the tapering on this one is different than the other models which I found improves stability.
@@AmarAlhoch gotcha. Well I went ahead and ordered a mid tech Ares from purple plectrums. Depending on how I feel about it and the extra thickness I may give your signature pick a shot afterwards. The thickest pick I’ve used to date is a 4.2mm so going to a 6mm is the next step for me. Kind of excited to try it.
I'm sure you'll enjoy it if you liked the 4.2. These are so well done that they don't feel as thick as they look. At least to me :)
i wish i had the money to buy these picks. for now id stick with my jazz iiis
You can try to enter the solo contest on my website if you'd like. There are many prizes including these picks. :)
Please make a video about finger positioning and what principle should we follow everytime . I am really struggling to play 124 i am practicing it for 3 months still can't play
Hang in there! We each have our struggles. What exactly is happening when you try to play 124? 🤔
@@AmarAlhoch its getting tensed up when i play slow its fine first attempt is fine then flying fingers tension thumb pressure etc
Patreon coming soon. I hope to make that a place to answer all questions like this through videos. :)
I use the big stuby by Dunlop...once you use theas u can't go back to normal plecs ...ther is like a kinda gliding sound I can't explain ...it has a nice feel against the strings aswell
I totally get that!!
@AmarAlhoch if u get a chance try out a gretch electromatic they have a very nice tone and good full bodied feel I picked this guitar after I saw D gilmore playing one
If I spot one around, I'll be sure to give a try! 🎸
Received mine today I’m curious if I will need to resharpen it eventually?
I hope you are liking it! It should last quite some time!! 🙌
Are they also good for scaling thin strings? like 09-42? or are they too stiff for these strings?
I use 9-44 with no issue. They are very polished and gentle on the strings.
@@AmarAlhoch thank you
Dude how many guitars do you have ?
Quite a bit but I've been moving them slowly to make room for new gear. There are only 3 that I really use these days. This LsL, my ESP, and my Fender. 🎸🎸🎸
@@AmarAlhoch I just am got Ibanez prestige RG5320 it’s nice !
Is this guitar just custom or is it worn down soo much over the years?
It's a custom guitar but the wood isn't worn. The top is buck eye burl: the higher the grade, the crazier it looks. Same thing with the fretboard. That wood is pale moon ebony. 🎸
@@AmarAlhoch interesting. 🤔. Thanks so much for the reply. 👍🏼
Looks like a little home plate. 😂
😂 lol I said the same shit
@@Cognitoman 🤣
I accidentally masturnated with this puck in my hand and finished in under 30 secondes.
Thas one girthy thikk pick😮
6mm 👌
Sharp tips dont glide, they get hung up
That's why this pick is awesome. Sharp tip without getting hung up 👍
Du kannst ja reden 😀👍😉😀
No.
I would buy it if it wasn't 30£ lol. It's a damn piece of plastic, I'm sorry.
What!😮 that's $58aud.. can't be
God damn !!! Wtf I’d never pay for a pick thats more then 1 dollar
40 bucks for 1 is a little crazy. I know it lasts a long time but still...idk man.
Hey I get that man. I was like you for a while. I decided to go for one of their cheaper models as a start, and it changed my playing. Give it a shot if you can
Hey Amar, I love your videos. I want to buy the vegatrem and install it on my Charvel promod Socal HH HT guitar and I need your help. I want to create a guitar with a tremolo that stays in tune even after changing the tuning (without restringing the guitar or setting it up for that tuning), because I only have that guitar. In the FAQ for Vegatrem it does not say whether this installation can happen, and also I am scared that the guitar will lose its sustain (sth that i don't want to happen because I play lead).
I don't have any issues with sustain when it comes to the Vega Trem. The only way to keep the guitar in tube while changing tunings is using something like a Tremol-no. But I have never used one so I don't know if it's compatible with the Vega block.
