Thank you kindly for posting this fine video. I think Tommy Emmanuel would say "good job", too. Your version of this is really good, and most people don't realize just how hard it really is to play that well. Loved it.
im a million miles from tommy and when recording i do go into mechanical mode but what i did get from it was a sense of achievment and hope to get better
Maybe it's different from how Tommy would do it; but the love for the song, the instrument, and the craft is every bit as obvious. Tommy would be proud and cheering you on (as am I). :-)
hi Dicky, if you email me I will send a tab which will help. go to www.burst-videobase.com and send me an email at my google account and thanks for the kind words
there is a tommy workshop doing A.G. and l learnt some really good 'chet' moves - keep up the fishing - playing guitar in the sunshine on a boat out in the gulf sounds inspirational!! - regards david
Love this one! I just used the 3 step drop at a recent christmas show on my 12 string. Great sound, but constantly tuning it. Anyway keep up this great music. Colin
@thelittlepicker hi, its a 414CE with a set of 12's (i think) with the de-tuning to C# they need to be heavy - i enjoyed your vids too, thanks to tommy bringing us all together - the worlds a better place since he arrived
Glasgow in January, part of Celtic connections - in 2015 I met him officially during the afternoon - I'm lucky enough to have had a few chats with him - great person, player and motivator
sidneyandherbie Yeah he is cool and probably the best acoustic guitarist in history. Also lucky to be so vital for so long. Hope he will come to Prague next year....
Hey great playing am thinking about getting this guitar, just wondered what the action is like on it my Yamaha is very high am looking at playing something a little easier?
sidneyandherbie I only recently discovered Tommy Emmanuel. He is incredible! You did an outstanding job and I enjoyed it very much! I saved it on my phone. I think Tommy would be very proud of you indeed! I believe you play it as well as the man himself. You have greatly inspired me. I’m going to make it my mission to learn to play the song like that as well! Only another guitar player can understand the complexity of the song and what it takes to learn something like that. Thank you for your beautiful playing and your hard work! 😎👍
@@jeffwickermusic134 hi jeff if you need any help just email me guitarvids100@gmail.com i have tabs for the song and somewhere i did a really slow version showing the moves - there is also a great chet atkins ending which isnt on this video - i have met tommy many times and he is such a nice guy - we are so lucky he is tours often
Hi, what an awesome job. The sound is amazing. Would it be possible to get the tab? Also, how do you get that sound. That is the most delightful sound. Fits that song perfectly. I have a Taylor 314ce and would love to know how to achieve a sound like that. Thanks!
+Musettelover thanks for the kind comm. I'm using an old Peavey Pro-Fex mark I - a bit of room reverb all mixed together thro Cubase. the source was a combination of mic and direct.
Hello David...yes I do have my channel locked down pretty good...but I have subscribed you and added you as a contact so I guess it 's open now. thanks very much and appreciate your comments!
Beautiful.....too bad most people don't have a clue how much effort it takes to play like this....anyone that has ever picked up a guitar though, does.
@pretty9reenpark4 20 minutes to record a reasonable version - 3 years on and off to learn some of tommys tricks - 40 years of playing of which the last 8 have concentrated on acoustic techniques etc
You said I could ask about chord-shapes, so I'm asking! I find that the tab doesn't really explain fully what's going on in various areas, so here's the question: I don't have the music with me at present, but if you know the words, you have "Amazing Grace, how sweet the sound/ That saved a wretch like meeeeeee" What's the chord shape that starts a descending bass run here, at the start of "meeeeee"? Thanks. Aidan
@shanethedrummer1 hi shane, hope the people out thre see your site and playing - im mic'ing, di'ing thro a profex and mixing together for the final - cheers
+bob the wood guy - I uses to be able see messages no bother but google have complicated things - email me atguitarvids100@gmail.com don't worry about the geek thing - they are a nightmare at times
Hello ..I really love this cover of this great hymn...you did an awesome job on it ! I was wondering if you would accept my video response to it ..if not that's okay ...thanks and wishing you all the best from Canada !!
tell me honestly for what you need tabs for that, the tone couldn't be any clearer to hear/understand, the audio recording (almost) any better and the camera captures any position, and you DO HAVE ears, right?? also without the above mentioned qualities writing tabs for this kind of cover is absolutely useless, as it is quiet flexible how you can play it... i hope you learn about music first, before you just start playing notes my dear friend!
9 thumbs down? You have no idea what it took this man to learn thus great piece! His dexterity muscle memory and theory are excellent!
ha! thanks Wally, Im pleased 9 people watched it -
Baritonish...love it, brought chills to my arms....
That was not just Amazing Grace. That was amazing in itself, wow, thank you.
youve brought something new refreshing and tasteful to this classic piece.nice job . well done .a pleasure to listen to.
Incredible touch, incredible soul. Thanks for sharing it to the world sir, God Bless.
It may have taken 3-years...but 3-years well spent. VERY VERY nice.

Absolutely lovely! I'll try to learn it from your playing.
Nicely done! You did Tommy proud! Thanks for the inspiration.
Maybe it's different from how Tommy would do it; but the love for the song, the instrument, and the craft is every bit as obvious. Tommy would be proud and cheering you on (as am I). :-)
I like this my friend outstanding job.......
Best one yet wished i coulda play like you. Thats how to do this song. Awesome. Thanks. I play a 12 string i pick n strum this.

Truth to be told, I very much prefer your style of this song. It's much better than TE's version. Please keep up the great work!
The Taylor is pure and soulful (I play a 714ce), but it couldn't take the scrubbing and banging Tommy puts on that Maton.
beautiful played .
Superb job David,
there is a tommy workshop doing A.G. and l learnt some really good 'chet' moves - keep up the fishing - playing guitar in the sunshine on a boat out in the gulf sounds inspirational!! - regards david

WOW!
Been listening to this on and off for a few years. Great version.
What's the reverb, it's fabulous.
+Musettelover thanks for the kind comm. I'm using an old Peavey Pro-Fex mark I - a bit of room reverb all mixed together thro Cubase. the source was a combination of mic and direct.

this guy is killer cool
This is a fantastic job! You play with a lot of soul and emotion. Where did you find the tabs? Or did you learn it by ear?
Nice job
Nice technique, sir.
This is great, very well played! I have a taylor 414ce myself. Can I ask you how you did the recording? It sounds beautiful :)
standard - just down 3 steps to C# - keeping in tune is a bit of a nightmare!
Beautiful interpretation!
Have you transcript this song? Have you the tab?
Thank
So beautiful, it brings tears into my eyes! Did you figure it out by ear and how many years do play fingerstyle guitar? Greetings from Greece.
hi Antonis, thankyou - if you email guitarvids100@gmail.com I will send you the tabs etc
epic!
Very nice ! Enjoy !!!
thanks Dominique - hope you enjoy my tommy emmanuel videos from Glasgow royal concert hall 23 January 2017
sidneyandherbie could I have a tab of your version ? (Sorry, I've a bad english...)
yes, please email guitarvids100@gmail.com
Can you do take it on the run a tribute to Gary richrath
this guy is killer kool
hi and thanks, a long time since anyone called me cool lol
Very beautiful. What gauge strings are you using? And how far down are you tuned?
just spotted this - probably 12s and down 3 steps so the strings are very slack and hard to keep in tune
@pretty9reenpark4 20 minutes to record a reasonable version - 3 years on and off to learn some of tommys tricks - 40 years of playing of which the last 8 have concentrated on acoustic techniques etc
Спасибо!!!!!!! музыкант классный💞

Michael Myers hi Michael, its a sunny morning in the UK and your nice comment just made it better - thanks
Is this on standard tuning?
Which tuning are you using?
I'm not a computer geek, I don't know what a RUclips message is or how to get it,
+bob the wood guy - I uses to be able see messages no bother but google have complicated things - email me atguitarvids100@gmail.com don't worry about the geek thing - they are a nightmare at times

Hello ..I really love this cover of this great hymn...you did an awesome job on it !
I was wondering if you would accept my video response to it ..if not that's okay ...thanks and wishing you all the best from Canada !!
It was a tribute, and not many people could play it like Tommy, so why don't you say something nice instead?
too much delay for me
ok it's beatiful song,,,but it's very different from tommys. this is a normal arrangement in fingherstyle
tell me honestly for what you need tabs for that, the tone couldn't be any clearer to hear/understand, the audio recording (almost) any better and the camera captures any position, and you DO HAVE ears, right??
